  • One thing that will make living in our off grid camper more bearable is a bathhouse. We are going to start it soon and I can’t wait to finally take a standing shower again!

Gonna be a really nice structure to have. Curious to see what you guys decide to do and how it turns out. Just curious, will it be a flush or compost toilet?

@@TheBackwoodsHermit We’re starting out with a composting toilet and then much much later will aim for installing a flush toilet. We need to work out septic details, but will have it plumbed for a flush toilet to give us more options.

@@miscellaneousme Nice. Not having to worry about septic will make things much easier. Graywater can easily be drained anywhere, but when mixing in toilet waste it complicates things. If you're interested in building a cheap one, there's a video in my Preparing for SHTF playlist titled Building Your Off-Grid Compost Toilet. Been using it daily for 9 months now. I remember Doug and Stacy's channel had a couple good compost toilet videos as well.

@@TheBackwoodsHermit Actually, we’ve been using a composting toilet for the last several years now. We took the camper toilet out when we first moved in and we have a toilet similar to yours. The reason we’d install a flush toilet down the road is for when we get old and crochety and the composting toilet becomes too heavy for us, or if we eventually use the bathhouse as a guesthouse for family to visit.
I have a composting toilet video coming soon in which I show three different families’ set ups to show people different options to have for when they go off grid! ☺️

@@miscellaneousme Oh nice. I'll check out the video for sure when you get it out. Love learning about how other people problem solve around these things.

@@miscellaneousme Quickly learned that you don't let it get too full. It makes very good compost. The best of luck with your bath house.
