The meter is the red ring around the rune I believe. I've noticed the more you kill the more it fills up until it's full and the level ends!

So Beelz, I know you are kind of a secret hound like I am, and this game actually has some "secret" stuff in the rooms. Like there was a door at the 25:38 mark that you missed once you cleared the room. It looks like its part of the actual background, but it is interactable once the room is clear. Keep your eye out for stuff like those doors and stairs. And there is also NPC's and just little surprises once you clear a room too, so don't immediately just collect your prize and hop in the portal. For example at the 1:01:08 mark off to the left side of the room are two little NPC statue men that you missed. It's worth taking a lap around the room once you clear it and just searching a little closer and you will encounter lots of little stuff the developers have implemented.
Did you notice that you got the 3 specials back at the end of the first run and one of them reduced your health by 40 down to 10 which is why you got absolutely gibbed in that run?

The way that this game plays reminds me of those early 2000's flash games. It definitely feels like a revamp of an earlier genre of platform shooters, but with the roguelike elements added in.
It rlly feels like the old versions of the game "my friend Pedro" you know
it plays like the flash game "thing thing 4". iykyk. that game was so fuckin sick lmao.

As it was already pointed out: You see a red ring around the exit rune filling up for every enemy you kill (so thats your meter that shows how much more you need to kill). Second: You need to take your time after you cleared a room, because you missed out on either people or items to interact with (and even if its just a head or a brick: take it with you, especially when you missing range attacks). There is also no reason not to activate a rite before a run. And as a last thing: The lightning sword you collected only seems to have a cooldown, not a fixed charge. When you activate it the lightning also seems to hit everything above you, so mash that thing!
This has Control's baboon combat of throwing rocks and office equipments at people energy all over. And I am all for it.
Beelz is like the opposite of most people where he plays terrible off camera but as soon as he hits record he becomes a God at the game he's playing

pierce was the right call. there's a build coming together. I was just playing nobody saves the world (I just started it) and been playing the ranger form a lot as she has pierce on her default.
I think you'd love it. only thing is that there is no mouse, you play with full KB or controller, you only aim the way you are facing, but you can lock in your direction so you can face one way and shoot the other (which is important for forms like the horse that has to face backwards to kick) you have around 15 forms you can freely change between (when unlocked) but also you can put any abilities on any form when you unlock this.
Once you have the ability to make your own builds, this becomes a big part of the game as you devise strats for taking on dungeons and how to beat the modifiers that are stacked against you. Putting the right moves on the right form can make for extremely OP builds as well.
Gameplay-wise, that looks ridiculously fun to run through! Another slash-n'-dash rogue, this time carrying the Lovecraftian theme to it!
So, we've had dating sims, turn-based RPGs, and now slash-n'-dash! What's next, a Lovecraft-themed rhythm game?
Looking forward to more, because this one seems extra hard to conquer!

I actually think there is a rhythm game 'slightly' themed after it? I mean, it's called The Metronomicon, and from what I've seen its got some Lovecraft inspired stuff, so hey! lol

The soul meter near your health heavily reminds me of hollow knights soul meter, and the map also is similar to slay the spire or curse of the dead gods. All three of those games are great so this game seems like it would be pretty cool.

Was it just me or did anyone else notice that there was a Save slot 1 & 3 but no 2. The 1 in the middle was just called Save Slot? Not that it matters, it's still a very cool game but I just thought I'd mention in case the devs were watching. This is probably 1 of the reasons I have no friends............ You were right about that lightning sword. There’s a bar above it and I’m guessing it does not allow you to use it when it’s red but only when it green so it not the durability of it but the recharge of the weapon in the lightning swords case.

Noticed that the health pickup rooms not only give you 10 health back but also increase your max health.
I've read and explained that part poorly. Its deliberately a max HP booster room, so because it expands your bar by 10, it pulls your cap as well. So if you had 40/50 life and got a room you'd go to 50/60. Still missing 10 life, so technically a better heal than I originally thought.

Can you rebind the controls? I've been getting used to putting my dodge roll on one of my mouse buttons, and it helps a lot. I'm not that experienced with KB+M, so having an ability or two and my dodge on the mouse really help out. Reminds me I need to start playing Dead cells again with my new KB+M set up. I'm sure I'll be way better at it now I've levelled up from controller.
Pretty cool game if not for the fact there is no clown nor hybrid in it.

you got your three items back from the time thing on the same round you died which is why you had only 10 health and died really fast in there
you can rig this game as much as you want, the intro admitted it's a rigged game so you have nothing to hide.
p.s: the small text around the exit portal of each room moves whenever you kill an enemy, when it becomes a full circle you're done with the room
