What world are we living in where true random is better than balanced blitz, the mode exclusively meant to fix randomness lol

@@colinwichman1084Balanced Blitz is objectively broken. They failed to implement it correctly. That's the core issue.
I think Kyle mis-spoke meaning to say balanced blitz he said true random, and meaning to say true random he said balance blitz??? It would be good to get a clarification though. It's an important point for strategy either way.

@@PioDoria No, true random is actually much better than balanced blitz when it comes to cap rolls. Just last game, a guy in my game rolled a 1000 cap and only lost 800 troops. Then I rolled a 600 cap and lost 1500 troops. Differences this big should basically be impossible.

I have been playing these settings for the best part of a year, keeps me in GM every season as I don’t get to play too often. Here comes Pete & Kylted to upskill everyone on these meta settings 😂
54:21 Why no cap run? You had 343 troops, the 3 capitals only had 40 troops on them combined, and all of them could be reached easily enough (London through Scandinavia).
Nevermind, you start realizing a couple of minutes after that turn.
I am here for the same reason haha, Why no cap run, but while gaming we might not notice some possibilities
as early as 47:43 i was looking at it. put some troops on your spain cap and run it into london then run both your other caps into greens caps.
I've played these settings before and they are super fun against noobs. If 3 or more good players are in it they stalemate and become worse than the meta settings because the cards are fixed
I feel this situation and the meta settings 3 way stalemates should not happen. If one play starts focusing on another, setting up card blocks attacking troops etc, then the other player should join in, else they risk becoming the one targeted when the active player gets mad at them for being passive and the previously attacked player jumps at an opportunity not to get third. This does not seem to happen though. Maybe players take attacks too personally, or are too focused on 1st to damage an advantageous position.

It felt like you were still playing a prog game - like at 59:00, why not just ignore the London cap and sweep through the top center and then around? The only reason to hit a cap in fixed is if it's the only way in. Otherwise it's basically just a +2 bonus when you're making 30-40 per round, it doesn't even matter.
It's far more efficient to just boil the ocean around their caps, get them to

I played a game like this yesterday, it took way too long and I had Kilted luck (also my luck). Lost more troops than I killed. Got teamed on in the early game, and when I needed a trade had no trade on 4 into a dude trade on 5 then another dude trade on 4.
Was my first thought it will lead to loooong games. Only one way to find out :) thanks for sharing
@@benjaminnturner it was an interesting game, in my game at least when I got to the three player end game I kept getting back stabbed when trying to work with one person to get the third out of the game. They also kept back stabbing each other. I eventually lost patientce tried to roll a cap to break the stalemate and got terrible dice and wound up taking third.

This is def a hint for the final map/match for the tournament
anyone else sitting there yelling at kylted that "ITS A CAP GAME RUN THE CAPS!!!". he had 240+ troops on his caps where the enemies only had less then 60 combined lol. oh man, i see he finally saw it but just said " but i don't have too" lol. rather kill them completely.
I was trying to get a feel for the settings, and was enjoying them. Plus in TR technically nothing is 100% Lol

enjoyed the fight for 3rd between green and red - a battle for the ages.
There was very little diplomacy in this game. Red wouldn't ally you and green didn't help you at all. Not sure I like to watch these settings; they don't seem as much fun, maybe more fun to play though. I could see it being more fun with six players, but how many games do you play where no one bots out? As always, you made the game incredibly fun to watch. These are exciting settings due to the diplomacy / strategy needed. Early on getting a Higher bonus and stacking on it will be the meta also eg Russia, Orient, Eastern Europe.
True random is fun to watch, but infuriating to play.
Perfect new meta settings, minus the fact that it's not the Arkeanos Map. Lol. I'll die on this hill.
True random balanced :D that 11-3 dice roll to try break your bonus and lost all his Troops :D is interesting settings because it also can not motivate players to try be greedy or break bonuses because of losses like that!

I think the true random is gonna lead to a lot of quits, but I have enjoyed the diplomacy of Europe Advanced Capitals so I look forward to more.
The blizzards have introduced a ton of skill expression but that makes it harder for the newbies to learn.
Halfway through this and realize that green fd himself hard positional wise bit teaming with you earlier. You were pinned in the middle. He had a way hetter chance territorial wise to have the advantage in the threeway, but after you took the spain cap and teamed, you were no longer in the middle. He was teamed with red, and red was being loyal to the point where red wouldn't team with you.
Definitely keen to try some new settings. Was kinda hoping it was guna be prog world dom 😂. I watched Leech play this map with no fog and allies but progressive, its bit different. The uncertainty of TR is an interesting element. Crazy rolls could win or lose games. No honey pots fixed caps, lets try it 😎

Im happy this one is fixed. I was getting bored or prog. Posturing during first round of trades and then going for kills (largely depending or order or card luck). Too formulaic.
I don't know Kilted, i like new things. I like with neutral bots settings. I like the aliances on. But... FIxed +caps? That may take hours
The thing is, classic fixed can take hours... Fixed caps here kind of sets the game in a similar way, but with the ability to steal half the map and snowball. I think it will stalemate less than classic fixed. Time will tell!
@@Kylted the true random might save it. Plus it is good to have a Meta with true random, I think it was you that said it , true random is like "god intedted it to be". The more I watch your video, the more it sells me :D

I enjoyed my games on them so far, I think Pete said he only had a few games last 2 hours, and most were about an hour. But I am curious if sharing these settings will make them tougher

When you said attack red they did thumbs down and say attack purple. So maybe they just wanted a true 3 player game without bot material?
love the neutral bots! sick of people just checking out for a higher position, makes knocking the bot off far easier if you want to/you don't lose your bonus every turn because your neighbour got bored
The last 15-20 minutes of this game could have been an easy cap run. West africa stack takes the orient cap, south italy cap stack takes the greece cap, north italy cap stack takes the london cap, ez gg

Interesting to watch. I'll definitely check Pete's stuff on these settings. Personally I like Prog, neutral bot, fog, w/ alliances. The alliance chat makes a huge difference in avoiding stalemates (If people know how to use them.)

I think I wanted to play the settings out completely for fun for my first time and also TR dice does have the potential to ruin things that are very certain lol

So I like the setting with people who bot out immediately get flagged and last place. I think it makes it so you can finally ignore them without punishing those players that remain who typically get killed next. But why not keep balanced blitz? I do like neutral bots because again it makes the bot less influential. One player doesn’t get hammered by the bot while another player on the edge snowballs to a victory.

I love it when Pete and him degrade players for not doing something that they didn’t do either. For instance at 36 min. U hit one territory/bonus. Then berated green for only hitting one as well. Then said there’s no reason for him to only hit one bonus. Dude you had both by 40+ troops and you didn’t either!

Hey to be honest these settings are very fun. It’s all about how other people play rather than there being one particular way. Even with fog. I have hundreds of games on these settings. True random is the only way to make fixed caps worth playing.
@@JigtheGoblin ah, maybe with fixed caps. Dice have always hated me, so I never play true random. Even balanced blitz hates me, but there’s only so much impact it can have! 😄

fixed caps will never be viable as meta settings since there is no good way to recover from noob slams and no guaranteed strat to just get a high placement. true random makes the cap rolls a bit more realistic, but do you actually need realistic rolls? where is the harm in assuming you lose between even and double cap troops?

Ehhh...I don't know if these setting will take off. No fog, fixed, bonus taking...seems like they're just going to stalemate. Look at this game full of bots...still took an hour fifteen. These are patience settings.

Sorry to say that, but the moment you realized that you had a cap run, you should have gone for it. The last 20 to 25 minutes were just a waste of time and pointless, and more importantly, disrespectful to your opponents. When you have a win, you win, you don't toy with your prey, that's not sportsmanship, it's a poor show.
