- In today's tutorial we will be checking out how to use the RBD lab addon. After that we will be using this add on to create an interesting motion graphic!

This is some powerful magic! So it generates "rubble pieces" in a cube volume, then makes a "common" operation with your object, saving all individual pieces as a separate mesh, also noting which face came from your object and which from cube's "rubble pieces" to discern inner and outer faces and apply corresponding materials. Nice. And it can do more...

Thanks for always going through the whole process even up to exporting. I know you have done it a billion times lol but it helps. I don't play around with blender as much as I would like and it forget everything

Explode visualization is a technique not primarily to simulate an explosion effect but to visualize a complex object in its parts. It’s a common technique in technical modeling and it has confused me for quite some time but it doesn’t have anything to do with actual explosions

I have tested it out! Its soo easy to work with this addon and so powerful. I always had an issue with cell fracture addon because when I play the animation it just explodes. But now the biggest problem is fixed with the help of this addon! :D

What do you mean at 3:13 "You don't get to do this with the Cell Fracture addon"? Fracturing along the Annotation drawing? Of course... that's what the Point Source > Annotation Pencil button is for in the Cell Fracture tool...

The concern about cell fracture and even this addon is that most the brocken pieces are about the same size which is unrealistic unless you do a lkt of twiking
Do you think you could show us how to make electricity? I've been trying to find a good tutorial but I haven't been able to find anything good. This is a great tutorial btw!

@@TheDucky3D you can use particals with trails, or use premaid custom shapes (or/and key shapes) or textures and animate time sequence. Or use follow curves with array, displase and also noise modify on graph edit.
Yeah and go experiment with constant, bizer and liner types of animation, as deferent handles as in/out
Or make it all through shaders and geo nodes

Did I miss a way to keyframe the explode like say if I wanted to animate a solid cracked to exploded view back to solid. I am still very new to blender just did not see a keyframe button.

I've been thinking about getting a new laptop for a while now. I had never heard of the concept D, but it looks pretty rad. Gonna research more, but it seems like a good contender. I have used Mac for like 10 years now, but it may be time to branch out.
is it possible to make object filled with liquid and when other object hit the first one, it will fracture with liquid to simulate for example broken vine bottle?

you *can* use annotation as guides in the native fracture addon, you juat have to switch the fracturing method to "annotation". iirc blender guru had a video on destruction. this does make it much more user-friendly, tho

I have one question. I have tried changing the explode amount and giving it key frames but nothing happens when I hit play. Is there a reason for this?
so theres one thing i cant get my grip aorund, i want to use this but to have it animate from the start and tehn to the explosion, but keyframing the explosing level doesnt seem to work with the keyframe, it seems like its either on or off, what am i missing out with htis?
I have been looking at tutorials on this for hours and I am trying to figure out why my uv gets jacked up as soon as I fracture. It wraps each individual piece and I want the whole structure to be wrapped. any advice??????

I don't see any rotation to the exploded pieces. If it does, I didn't see it by 10:49 when I stopped. Please let me know if the pieces rotate from the explosion. Otherwise, it's incomplete. Thanks.

I have a question, is possible to keep the same texture/textures from original model on the fractured one?! I mean for example, if i want to fracture a human model which had several textures on it, is it possible to keep this original textures on the fractured copy of this model, that it wont be just a one color statue...?

Yes, of course you can, just have the materials placed on the object before you fracture it, when you do the fracture, it will keep the same material.

Changing your default interpolation seems an odd way of doing it compared to just changing the specific keys
RBD installed fine and shows up in blender. My issue if that the "Fracture" button doesnt appear. Output Collection is the only text that is shown in that section. :(

Any suggestions on how to make my video rendering faster? Both my hp and MacBook take forever to render an image or video and it seems to only render 1 second once’s it’s done when it should be maybe 5+/-

You need to use GPU instead of CPU if you have one, reduce samples and activate denoising
@@AlexisRivera3D Thank you for your reply! I think I checked that already and I don’t have it. My MacBook rendered fairly quickly yesterday, so without GPU, I wonder if it’s the amount of objects, materials/layers that slow down in the rendering?

When you change the seed of Perlin/Simplex/... noise, the result changes to something completely different. When you change the value for the fourth dimension, the result changes slowly without big jumps.

Other than speed, what is different with the add-on? Cell Fracture uses an annotation which I believe is the grease pencil, you can have inner and outer materials.. I guess I am missing the difference other than speed and I don't know how much of that is the laptop you are demonstrating.
For example.. CG Cookie gave us this back in Blender 2.64, was how I learned to use the Cell Fracture add-on actually.

Just use the cell fracture, all he’s done is take it and made a fancy interface and made some presets and what not,he didn’t program a new algorithm from scratch, you can use that annotation thing in cell fracture, it’s just called grease pencil
