I couldn't believe in my eyes. She became one of my obsessions as a teenager and was her who made me fell in love for the Cinema World. ❤ Love Maggie

Voldemort didn’t expect that Draco would succeed in getting rid of Dumbledore. He gave Draco the task as punishment for Lucius Malfoys failures. The diary Horcrux was destroyed in Lucius’ plot to open the Chamber of Secrets, then he failed to retrieve the prophecy in the Department of Mysteries.
Voldemort was furious so decided to punish the Malfoys by giving Draco a job that he, Voldemort, thought the boy couldn’t do & then told the Malfoys that he would k!ll the boy when he failed.
Believing that Draco would not succeed Voldemort told Snape of the plan with the understanding that Snape would do it once Draco failed. That’s why Snape told Draco’s mother, Narcissa, that he was aware of her situation & agreed to make the Unbreakable Vow.
Every reactor I’ve seen is confused about the Horcruxes. Young Tom Riddle had already made one Horcrux, the ring he was wearing, when he asked Slughorn about them. He needed to know if it was safe to create another Horcrux so he asked Slughorn if it was possible to split the SOUL seven times, which means he was planning to create six Horcruxes while the 7th piece of his tattered soul remained inside his body.
It was the part of the soul in his body that fled the Potter’s ruined house after his body was destroyed in the failed attack on baby Harry. It hid in the forests of Albania where Quirrell encountered it & bought it back to Britain. It was that piece of Voldemort’s soul that was used when Peter Pettigrew resurrected him in Goblet of Fire.

Good point: in the books, Harry DID rarionalize the Felix Felicitis, and the remainder helped his friends survive when the Death eaters came to Hogwarts and there was some dueling.
Half blood Prince: Snape was a half blood (his father was a muggle) and his mother's maiden name was Prince. Why the movie couldn't take 2 seconds to explain that ..
Don't forget, right near the beginning Dumbledore told Harry that there was no spell that could bring back the dead 😢

The actress who plays Draco's mother was originally cast as Bellatrix but had to turn it down because she got pregnant. She passed from cancer just a few years ago. Many reaction people, like you, mention how much they like Maggie Smith as Professor McGonagall. @@kathydouglas6892 There was still so much missing, some critical parts. It doesn't make sense because if they were doing it in two parts, they should have kept in the critical parts they skipped and left out the extras that were not in the story. If LOTR respected its audience enough to make a long film, this franchise could have shown equal respect to the story and the characters. And I think Order of the Phoenix was just as long or about the same length as Deathly Hallows.

I really felt like that was one of the weaker performances unfortunately. In the book, 11-year-old Riddle was very clearly already a psychopath who terrorized the other children in the orphanage. In the movie, it came across more like he was a misunderstood loner who was using dark magic to stand up to his bullies. In the book, he WAS the bully. None of his behavior was sympathetic or understandable. And he even behaved aggressively toward Dumbledore until he realized Dumbledore was offering to teach him how to become more powerful.

Dumbledore’s hand was injured destroying the horcrux in the ring not in the fight with Voldemort - which is why you don’t remember him hurting it. Also, it’s not clear in the film but Slughorn didn’t tell Tom Riddle how to make a horcrux, he already knew and had already made one. He just wanted to find out if it was possible to make more than one and Slughorn didn’t actually confirm that. So it wasn’t really his fault that Voldemort went ahead and made more horcruxes.

In the books there are more memories which gives Harry information about what most of the horcruxes look like. In the films it appears Harry would be lucky to find them. Ginny and Harry's relationship is built up better in the books and Slughorn's class is all wrong: Katie Bell is not in Harry's year (she's a year older), Romilla Vane is a year younger, Crabb And Goyle are too stupid to make the grade to attend this class and also Lavender Brown is 'a stupid bimbo' not in the class.

Also, at this point of the book, Ron is angry with Hermione because he learned that she kissed Krum during 4th year. It's not like Hermione made any clear move on him before Lavender did. Then she's jealous and attacks him physically (in the book, the birds attack him, he's bleeding). If the roles were reversed, everybody would crucified him for that.

    To answer your question about what happened to Dobby;
In the Harry Potter books Harry finds out that after he freed him Dobby actually got a paying job working at the Hogwarts' kitchen. In fact, in the Goblet of Fire it was Dobby and not Neville that gave Harry the Gillyweed to eat for the second trial of the Tri Wizards Tournament. And in Order of the Phoenix again it was Dobby and not Neville that told Harry about the Room of Requirement. They never put these facts facts in any of the movies. Not only were the makers of the film limited with time but because CGI is so expensive they had to prioritize on what they could use it on. For example the Tri Wizards Tournament had to come first before a kitchen full of house elves because the tournament was the main plot point of Goblet of Fire. So dragons and merepeople trump house elves.

Even when the book came out I found it pretty obvious who the Half Blood Prince was - I mean...
Who do we know is good at potions (the youngest potiion master in centuries) and whos classroom was this for the last 16 years?
It also fts with the spell inventing.
I am so pleased you are not all against Snape (yet). Sid it before Book Snape is so much nastier - you'd probably fallen down the rabbit hole of disliking him more then you do film Snape. It was mentioned in Goblet, that Snape was a death eater, but Dumbledore made sure he was cleared of all charges.

He never drank while being at work but he did go in already drunk. Also in the beginning of this movie Draco tells his friends that he might jump off the astronomy tower, then later in the movie you can see him standing against the rail of the astronomy tower looking down. The reason Professor Snape called himself The Half Blood Prince is because his mother who was a witch had the maiden name of "Prince". He loved his mother and was proud of her. But his muggle father was very abusive. Snape hated his father so much that he liked referring to himself as the Half Blood Prince rather than the name of his father's last name of "Snape" during his years as a student in Hogwarts.
The ironic thing about Harry is he always had a hard time learning potions from Professor Snape. But the moment Harry found Snape's old text book with all of Snape's hand written notes and didn't realized that it had belonged to Snape Harry suddenly began to excel in potions.

In the book, James did not exactly "bully" Snape, but instead they are just arch enemies who hex and curse each other at first sight. The biggest reason that James seemed to bully Snape is that he often wins when fighting Snape because of his 3 friends. Or rather, 2 actual friends.

Wish I could have given you a hug, it's good to let your emotions out.
The same actress plays Mrs Weasley from the start. The only one who got recast was Dumbledore in the 3rd one because the previous actor passed away.
Hermione excelled in Potions until this film because Slughorn taught from the textbook. Snape created better ways of doing potions (as we learn from his book in this film) so he never actually used the textbooks in any of his lessons. Go back to previous films and you will see he always writes the instructions on his blackboard.
Really bugs me the way they did everything with Harry and Ginny in this film. Book Ginny and film Ginny and COMPLETELY different. The films make her look so awkward.
Also, most people don't see it but Dumbledore knew to look in that cave because you see a postcard with it in Tom Riddle's room that first day he met him at the orphanage.
Unfortunately nothing can bring them back from the killing curse (Avada Kadavra) That's what makes Harry so special. When Voldemort used the curse on him, his mother's sacrifice put a protection on him and it rebounded onto Voldemort. Harry is the only one to have ever survived that curse.

To be clear, in the memory written in the book, James Potter, Sirius, Lupin, and Wormtail insulted Snape. Then Lily Evans, (now Lily Potter) saw James, and told him to leave Snape alone. Snape wanted to keep his personality, and said he can handle it on his own, calling Lily a "mudblood". This abruptly stopped their friendly relationship. As explained by Sirius in the book, Lily started going out with James only in 7th year when he became less cocky.

The Half-Blood Prince title is never addressed in the movies, so this is not a spoiler but rather an omission from the book. At some point the trio discovers an old yearbook showing a woman named Eileen Prince, who later is discovered to be Snape's witch mother, and he had an extremely abusive Muggle father from whom the name Snape comes from, via memories Harry sees via the Occlumency lessons in Order of the Phoenix. Hence...Half-Blood Prince. He was casting off his father's name as a student, much like Voldemort did.

Voldemort's past is indeed tragic, mainly from his mother's side of the story. Poor thing, abused and bullied all her life by her father and brother. Abandoned by the man she loved just because he found out she was a witch. She'd lost the will to live by the time her son was born. And Tom Riddle Senior never even bothered to come looking for the boy, one of the main reasons Voldemort came to despise Muggles.

With that I leave a quote from the books that brings me some comfort: “After all, to the well-organized mind, death is but the next great adventure.” -Albus Dumbledore

  • @calipidgious
    @calipidgious Před 6 měsíci +1

The entire relationship between Snape and Harry's father is far more complex than the movies ever show. They definitely hated each other and Snape gave as good as he got, making it a habit to do everything he could to try to get James, Sirius and Lupin expelled. It's also very important to remember that Snape and his friends, from Slytherin, all became Death Eaters so they were NOT nice people, not even when at Hogwarts as students. That said, it wasn't ok for Harry's Dad to bully Snape but the vast majority of the context is missing. You will see more as you finish up the series but even then, it's a very one-sided look which many fans feel was made to make Snape more likable for the movies. This is a HUGE fan debate and often a topic that creates a lot of controversy.

I'm in the camp where this is my least favorite because it is the least accurate. I highly recommend reading the series after you watch it.
I am a teacher, and as such, I am not a Snape fan. He is a terrible teacher and a bully. You see his favoritism and bitterness a lot more in the books. Example: Hermione is initially described as having slightly buck teeth. In book four, someone splashes a potion that causes Goyle's (I think) nose and Hermione's front teeth to grow painfully large. Snape helps Goyle but ignores Hermione. When he is called out on it, Snape looks at Hermione's teeth (which have grown past her chin by now) and says, "I see no difference." Hermione rushes out of the class sobbing while Harry and Ron scream at him. He takes points away from Gryffindor for their outburst.

Fun fact i wait to post again to give you time to read my little novels and ask anything. In this post i wanted to address draco malfoy. Youve mentioned him being misunderstood many many times lol and youre right. Even more so from just the movies cause all they have time to show u is that his dad is also an ass hat. First let me explain what dracos childhood was like. A pure blooded wizard boy, born to one of the riches and well known pure blooded lines, listed in the The Sacred 28, an official hitorical record of the pure blooded lines still alive. An only child, given anything he ever wanted or needed, all while being raised to believe he is the closest thing to wizard royalty there is, being from such an old family with ALL of them pure bloods. When 11yro draco gets to hogwarts hes expecting treatment like how he was told all his life he deserved simply for his blood status, he also believing hes above the others. But, his foil in harry potter, A half blood wizard, raised by muggles was getting all the love, fame and attention. In dracos eyes thats just BS. In dracos eyes all harry had ever done was not die when he was supposed to. So what? Harry, meanwhile, and all he is and what he stands for threatens dracos perseption on life. Like blood status not really meaning anything. So he falls back on the methods he learns from his family, his dad and his aunt bellatrix lestrange (his moms sister btw) who are actively telling him the right path is the one voldemort is paving. Draco though, he doesnt admit to himself, doesnt want to. Hes scared and he doesnt hate harry, yea he doesnt rly like him and as a child he threatend his world view but as a young man hes being forced to realize that it was a good thing...he, draco, has been on the side of evil this whole time. The actor playing draco does a fantactic job showing this shift in draco as he has an internal battle with himself. Try to remember hes harrys age. 16/17 yrs old. Draco while still kinda a pric, he is also a victim. Hes a victim to generational trauma, to a manipulative father who is also the same type of victim. You see he also starts to fear voldemort, showing also that when it comes way way down to it, he cares more for his family than anything else, even his beliefs. Now let me talk a little about this generational trauma. This is actually what younge witches and wizards are taught in history of magic class. Ill use an easy example for you, The Salem Witch Trials. In the world of harry potter, this is also a real thing that happened. Humans began to fear witch craft, so much so they hunted them, targetting their families and trying to wipe them all out. This forced real witches and wizards to go into hiding, these crimes against the magical poppulation are ultimately what inspires the international statute of secrecy. Making knowingly using magic in view of the non magical poppulation an international crime that will be enforced regardless of where you are. The abuse the wizards were subjected to is why pure blood wizards stopped allowing their children to have relationships with muggles. Telling then how muggles are brutal and violent and nasty. These teachings and beliefs, down the generations is what makes the Malfoy family so famusly racest. To be clear, im not defending their behavior in any way. This is just a basic summary of where it came from. I hope i helped you understand draco, and his family a little better. Take care sunny!

Dumbledore was 115 when he died.
Snape wasn't completely innocent. Both Snape and James took every opportunity they had to jinx each other for a few years. James was a jerk for sure but he grew out of it. Snape and his future Death Eater friends were doing some nasty bullying of their own. Especially when it came to muggleborn students. It's bad to bully others as a kid but it's significantly worse to bully kids when you're an adult in a position of authority like Snape did.
That part of the book had me in tears abd then they hit us with Dumbledore's funeral too. I almost threw the book across the room when Dumbledore went falling off of that tower...and I *never* mistreat books. I don't even fold the corners of the pages to keep my place.

And in the books, Dumbledore had spent months-- even years-- tracking down everyone still alive who had ever known Tom Riddle, trying to piece together exactly what Tom had done. I think Dumbledore knew well before book 6 that Riddke had made at least one Horcrux, but needed to know how many and what they likely were. He had collected memories ranging from an Auror (dark wizard catcher) to a House Elf and all sorts of other people who had encountered Tom Riddle in the past. And he needed to make sure Harry knew that information as well.

The book in this part is much better... Half blood Prince should have been a two part movie covering Tom riddles Muggle history as well ... Which reasons why he is repulsive towards love

@@YoSunnyP They cut a lot out of the movie, including more on Voldemort's back story and Dumbledore's funeral. Also Ginny actually has a personality in the books. I would recommend reading/listening to the books after you've finished the movies. If you don't have time for that there is a good CZcams channel that goes through the differences between the books and the movies. I think he's called MovieFlame and I would really recommend him!

nah i don’t like comments like this. we didn’t expect ANYTHING when we watched the movies back then and it gave us the raw authentic experience.
