Nicholas Flamel is the only real life person mentioned in the Harry Potter stories. He was an alchemist who lived during the Middle Ages. Legend has it that he was the only one who discovered how to create the sorcerer's stone because he became very rich practically overnight. His home still stands in Paris and has become a restaurant. I actually had lunch there on my last trip to Paris. Because of the popularity of the Harry Potter books and movies, the restaurant has a Harry Potter menu for children.
Actually, he was a scribe and manuscript seller... he was only credited with being an alchemist almost two centuries after his death.

@@garybassin1651 the legend of him being an alchemist didn't first appear until almost 200 years after his death. It picked up steam and he was actually mentioned as being an alchemist in several works, including ones by Isaac Newton, and Victor Hugo.
Technically Merlin existed too, though the stories of Merlin are based off of 2 different men, but they were both very real. Pretty much everyone but King Arthur himself are proven historical figures from the Arthurian legends.

Voldy didnt let Harry live. he wanted to kill Harry and asked that Lily step aside and let Harry be killed. She said no. So she picked him up to protect him, turned around and took the killing shot so that Harry didnt die. Voldy still tried to kill him but he couldn't.

I tried to watch these when I was younger and just couldn’t get into them. But now, as an adult, I absolutely love them. This is my favourite series to binge a couple times a year. They’re 100% comfort movies for me.

The scar is like wound from the spell. A curse is a spell that is used for attacking basically, and that type of scar that Harry has is caused by the attack spell "curse" that Voldemort used.
And they cleverly worked it into the Hogwarts Legacy video game: the Avada Kedavra wand motion is a zig-zag. So Harry’s scar isn’t a lightning bolt, it’s the curse’s wand movement seared into his forehead.

Mostly jokes but it's also due to her behavior. she can behave properly and be cool but she behaves like a bossy know it all. I mean you can know your stuff but there is also a good way to behave and she doesn't. She's like that in the books too btw. Also for the movies, the gave her Ron's lines. In the book, Ron being the only only one of the trio to grow up in a wizarding house, knew stuff about the wizarding world and the wizard culture etc that Harry and Hermione didn't know, so fans of the book also get mad when they see her saying Ron's lines and essentially turning Ron to comedic relief in the films

At hogwarts, the school is divided into 4 separate houses/tribes. Griffindor hufflepuff Ravenclaw and Slytheren. . Each house has different traits. And the sorting hat puts you in that house depending on the strongest traits that you yourself possess. Griffindor is said to be the house of the brave the champions. They are headstrong and believe in doing what's right. Hufflepuff It's known for being steadfast loyal friendship to the end. Ravenclaw is the house that is clever, cunning They are the knowledge seekers. Slitherin It's a bit misunderstood because more dark wizards come from slithering than any other house. Slitherin Is known for being ambitious, forceful, resourcefull and quite power. Ful, but they are not necessarily evil. And they can be real d**** too....
Welcome to The Wizarding World rabbit hole that is Harry Potter. The best thing about the Sorcerer's/Philosopher's Stone, to me is that the chambers following the third floor corridor containing Fluffy each play to the strengths of Harry, Ron and Hermione.
The Devil's Snare chamber caters to Hermione's knowledge of spells
The room with the winged keys caters to Harry's skill with quidditch.
And the chess room caters to Ron's knowledge of how to play chess.

That's a fair assessment on the first movie. A lot of reactions that I've seen of Harry Potter, they don't particularly like the first one. The storyline isn't super gripping like you said but you're going to need to remember some of the things that happened in this one later on. Think of this first movie as a world builder. They are just introducing the magic, the spells, the characters, the games, stuff like that. Remember that Harry, Ron, and Hermione are only 11 years old during this movie (each movie they are a year older) so they will grow as characters. I think why Harry Potter is so popular is that there's a very real element under the magical theme. They are just a bunch of kids at a middle school and high school age dealing with their own issues. We all had those.
Which is weird because the 1st film is the best one as it's the introduction to everything I guess some people just loose their inner child or something because I'm 24 and I love this film watched a thousand times since I was a child along with the rest of the HP films

Some of MANY facts about this movie:
1) Before the "vanishing glass" scene at the beginning, a group of students wearing bright green uniform is seen exiting the terrarium, Dudley behaves like a typical bully, and the scene is centered around a snake. This is foreshadowing of the Slytherin house, the colours of which are green and silver; its symbol is a snake, and most (but not all) of its members behave like bullies.
2) When designing the Dursleys' house, the creators intentionally used thd ugliest furniture they could find. To increase the impression, so to say.
3) In the book, there are two more challenges in the end. After Ron is out after the chess game, Harry and Hermione see a troll in the next room, but it is already knocked out (Quirrell then mentions that he is very good at fighting with trolls). And eventually they have to solve a logical riddle with potions; Hermione mentions that logic is not something that many powerful wizards had.
4) Pay attention to how the main trio wears scarves in the scene after the Quidditch match: Hermione has her neatly tied, Ron's just hanging, and Harry's is looped. Just like their attitudes: Hermione is always tidy and accurate, Ron is a bit of a goof, and Harry is in between, so to say

Don’t know if anyone mentioned it, but the 4 Hogwart’s houses are Gryffindor: They value courage, chivalry and determination. Their emblem is a Lion. Next is Hufflepuff. They value Hard Work, patience and loyalty. Their emblem is a Badger. Next there is Ravenclaw. They value Wit, creativity, Wisdom and intelligence. Their emblem is an Eagle in the books, but they changed it to a Raven for the movies. It’s the only Hogwarts house that has a different emblem from its book counterpart. Lastly there is Slytherin. They value ambition, cunning and power and their emblem is a snake.

The first movie, really the first 2, like the books are more for little kids, so temper your expectations. They are great stories but just be aware that each movie gets a little more adult and dark.

Btw Voldemort tried to kill Harry as well, not just his parents. You seemed to have missed this part. That is why he has a scar, cause the spell rebound back onto Voldi. Leaving Harry with that scar. That is why Harry is known as the boy who lived& is so well known. Hope this helped you.

@SLK HP reactions is the only way us diehard Potterheads get to feel like the first time watching it. I myself have watched the series 100+ times. It's my ultimate comfort. BUT ever since I discovered reactions a couple years ago, that's the only way I watch it. There are millions who love these movies, so they do really well on youtube. Good luck! He watched the extended version with the deleted scenes. Which I love when youtubers reacting to HP do. When I wacthed these as a kid I didn't know there was deleted scenes, so I watched the extended versions later on and it's way better. Some of them even add more details to the story, for those who haven't read the books nor will ever read them, it makes the whole difference.
It's OK, you'll get it. There are 8 videos to see and JK Rowling, the author, increased intensities as each school year progresses. BTW, Hermione (pronounced Armawny) is amazing. Those three Hermione, Ron, and Harry will be extremely close until adulthood. They each have their own specialty and that is why they are so tight. Remember this is the first series, so they're still getting to know each other. Also, wishing Happy Cristmas is supposedly the politically correct words to use since Merry Christmas offends certain people.

Is it weird that the phrase "broken wing" always reminds me of _Belle's Magical World?_
Few things Muggles are us and we would be blind by magic. Wizards put spells around so muggles dont know of magic, so they us we wouldnt ask for help at everything , or be targeted. it goes back to the past even in movies.. Witches burned at stake etc and killed, so Wizards want to make sure use spells stuff so muggles wont notice anything.
Also the books describe stuff. But things the movies dont tell us Harry has to go back due to like Dumbledore said hes in sense better off with them, because he is protected by his mothers blood line and other reason due to his fathers upbringing i found out in a video on here that i didnt know about his fathers past.
Also Ron didnt freak out in the devils snare it was Hermione, Hermione is over hyped due to directior/ writer loved her character. So Ron gets castrated from the books to movies. And Ron was in hospital he didnt go into the forest it was just Harry Hermione and Neville, with Draco. But id read the book its far better.

They make Hermione this unflawed angel and every character in there is really flawed some more than others, yes just like us humans every single one is flawed badly. But Lily Harrys mother i cant think of a negative. But the books will help more and their far better than the movies. After 3 the movies really far away from the book Mostly 4th one. I hate that movie version. Ron is more braver than the movies do him. hes like us, he typical kid, insecure, talks smack back to those that talk smack xD Rons the most real character in the books but he is very brave as you noticed with Chess. Which is 2 things bravery, and very logic smart. Not even Hermione is good at chess, even in the books.
