Thank you for this I'm flying to Japan tomorrow
Glad it help ! I hope you have a wonderful trip in Japan !
I'm learning to travel less with cash and you showed me how to do it in Japan. Thanks
Glad to help !
thanks and i am heading to Japan with my wise visa
All the best for your travel !
when using wise card to withdrawl money in Japan ATM machine, account selection click on " saving"?? what happen if select credit? and how about when paying in the shop?? select credit or saving.
by default, wise will allocate your money to saving. Im not sure what will happen if you select credit, but most likely, it might say that you do not have enough balance.
and for paying in the shop, for the first time paying using the card,
you need to insert your card in the payment machine, and insert your 4 pin number.
and for second time, you can just simply wave the card on the payment machine.
Very useful for me as I will be ij Japan coming June. Thank you for the video. Have you used this Wise card in any cafe or restaurants in Japan?
you're most welcome ! yeah, i've used it all across japan with no problem, make sure to activate your card with your pin first.
@adamisharuddin6903 do we activate in our home country or when we landed? I'm from Australia 🇦🇺
Is there limit how many time per day that you can withdraw? And what's the maximum amount you can withdraw from Wise?
The daily ATM withdrawal limit for Wise cardholders in Japan is 530,000 JPY, while the monthly limit is also 530,000 JPY. These limits reset daily and monthly, respectively
What is the transaction fee when withdrawing from an atm using Wise card?.
it is actually in the video, 220yen.
Unlike certain countries, commission-free ATMs in Japan are non-existent?
im not really sure, but from my experience, all the banks i withdraw my money have some charges.
My account is set up in US. When I make the global debit card, do I buy the Japanese yen first, then withdraw that money using that card? Or, each time you withdraw, it uses the exchange rate from that day? In another words, can you buy/keep a big sum of Japanese yen when the rate is good?
yes , you can and should buy the yen when the exchange rate is good.
if you dont have any japanese yen from your account, wise will deduct from your account , whichever currency you have and will convert it with current exchange rate.
@@adamisharuddin6903 thank you. I ended up creating an account within the main account and bought 500000 yen. I ordered the wise card. Your information was helpful.
Which atm machine i can use wise card to withdraw cash? Thank you
Any ATM machine would be fine.
Update 19/06/24 : Not all ATMs in Japan support international cards, so it’s best to use ATMs at major locations such as Seven Bank (found in 7-Eleven stores), Japan Post Bank, Aeon Bank, Mizuho Bank, and E-net ATMs located in Family Mart stores and other convenience stores
If i want to withdraw 20,000 yen then my balance should be 20,220 yen for the fee?
exactly. you have to have 20,220 yen balance in your account. although some bank charge more.
Does it work contactless? Can I withdraw from the virtual card using my smartphone?
no you cant, contactless only works for payment.
@adamisharuddin6903 In other countries, you can withdraw. So it's incorrect to say that contactless works only for payment.
But still... I have checked a few ATMs in Tokyo. Unfortunately, there are no NFC chips. Also, I was not able to pay with my phone in Akihabara, only Suico.
That was a problem (
if we already have Yen in the wise account, when we do withdrawable the 220Y fee will be charged as well?
Same question
yes, its the bank charges, not by wise. hope this answers your question
atm fees*
220Y is fix for whatever amount withdrawn?
