    Don't use DCC, it's more expensive than location currency transaction ❤

      Can you please explain? What's DCC? What do you mean by location currency transaction...?

      @@BdoodletalksDCC is dynamic currency conversion, it the amount of currency you wish to be charge or withdraw converted to USD or your card currency, it usually not favored as the conversion was done by the atm or credit card terminal operator/ bank which is in there favour more. When you select local currency, the bank that issue you the card or visa/mc network will convert the money for you which is close to the google exchange rate more than DCC.

    Where did you get the number 137.93 JPY?

      Hi there. I divided the amount of yen withdrawn by amount of USD debited from my bank account. The exchange rate now is even better: 149jpy to 1 USD!

      @@travistravels8818 Thank you! I will be in Japan soon. At first I thought I would just bring cash and convert to yen in Tokyo, but now I heard the exchange rate is still better at ATMs despite my banks foreign tx and ATM fees. Unfortunately I don't have enough time to get a debit card at a bank that waives the foreign tx fees.

    Hello, Did you get atm local fee when you have withdrawn ? Thank you.

    • @travistravels8818
      @travistravels8818  Před 2 měsíci +1

      Hi! No fee was listed on the receipt. So either 7 Bank doesn’t charge a fee or it’s already baked into the exchange rate

      Do you have capital one? Supposedly they have no ATM/foreign transaction fees. Idk if it's just with 7bank or what.

      Hi there. I don’t think they are widely accepted. Major convenience stores maybe. But many mom and pop shops still only accept cash

      They surely will, just notify your bank(s) that you are travelling there unless you want to get your cards blocked by them.

      @@itsminitheminiflyer7784 Thanks. I'm just worried because my debit card didn't work in Iceland last year (i still don'tknow why), I had to use my credit card for everything even after telling my bank I'd be there.

    Is that 3.5% conversion fee from your bank's card or atm ?

    • @travistravels8818
      @travistravels8818  Před rokem +2

      3.5% conversion fee went to the card network (e.g., Visa, Mastercard) that issued my credit card. Some banks will reimburse this fee
