  • Updated video showing steps to withdraw money from an ATM in Japan in October of 2023. Here, I use an ATM located in Haneda Airport which is the closest international airport to Tokyo. The ATM shown belongs to Seven Bank which is the most common and widely available ATM found throughout Japan. It belongs to, you guessed it, Seven Eleven.

    Hi why do we select checking account instead of saving or credit

      Hi there. It’s personal preference, you can either select checking or saving depending on which one has enough balance to cover the withdrawal. There’s no difference in terms of exchange rate

    I’m shocked the ATM located at Haneda airport didn’t charge a transaction fee? Usually airports are expensive. Or does that depend on your ATM card?

      Transaction fees can be charged by your bank and/or ATM’s bank. In this case my bank didn’t charge. 7 bank didn’t charge (or at least did not list it on the receipt). However, the fee may have been baked into the exchange rate. However, when I checked, the exchange rate applied was more or less on par with the one published on Google. In any event, I always use 7 Bank ATMs in Japan, they are owned by 7eleven and never let me down

      @@travistravels8818 ok. I will test the atm at Haneda …if I see a big fee by the atm on the screen…I will cancel and wait till I get to the hotel and find a nearby 7-11.

      @@travistravels8818i meant the atm machine fee at Haneda..the fees from banks depend on which bank you have. I do think they get their money in a form of it baked in exchange rate

    You withdrew 100k, and the screen said they only dispense in 1k notes, but it looks like you got 5k and 10k notes too? Any idea what notes you get if you ask for 100k?

      Good eye! I actually tried to look for that option but did not find it. I suspect these 7Bank machines don’t offer it. The denominations you receive depend on what’s available

    Is it possible to withdraw more than 100,000 yen?

    • @travistravels8818
      @travistravels8818  Před 8 měsíci

      For 7 Bank ATM, I believe the withdrawal limit per transaction is 100k yen, and daily aggregate withdrawal limit is 500k yen. Your own bank may have a daily limit also

    Would these work well with a Payoneer debit card?

      Shouldn’t be an issue as long as your card has one of the major payment network logos like Visa or Mastercard

    on oct 13th the market price was 1USD = 149.57 so when you clicked 100,000 yen. how was was that? was it still 1usd = 142.5923 yen

      @travistravels8818  Před 9 měsíci +7

      Hi Kenny, in exchange for 100k yen, $673.38 was deducted from my bank account. That comes out $1=148.5yen. I would have gotten the much lower exchange rate you see on the ATM screen if I had chosen to withdraw in USD. I chose to withdraw in yen thereby getting a much better rate. Hope that answers your question
