    The old RAF gauges can use radium (radioactive) to make them luminescent and so they don't need to be back lit. Don't mess around with the numbers or needle as radium is worse than uranium.
    That gauge was fitted to Westland whirlwind helicopters and Gloster Meteor jets.

    28:56 Whats good Stav! I'm one of the folk who left a comment on the Facebook mirror of the Instagram clip you posted that went semi-viral. I'd asked for the video covering the ALS you use, so I'm stoked to hear you are going to cover it.
    To explain the surprise attention, this style of true rally/F1(but not inlet bypass or ignition retard) anti-lag isn't really talked about by would be experts on the topic and I myself *really* don't consider myself knowed on the matter given I've never used it. I'd be an armchair expert at best.
    The closest folk get to being exposed to a true(effective) ALS system these days *would be* WRC Group Rally1 cars which don't run in the UK or North America anymore, unlike when you were a lad. So really, you are the only person bringing light to the fact that Throttle Kick ALS is an actual thing. Everything you said about parts and tuners is right as well, mapping in Throttle Kick doesn't make bank like selling manifolds does and the minority who would want it are driven away by poorly mapped "anti-lag"(pops n bangs) that just roasts exhaust valves.

    I am working on a special sequential system, and I was very curious about how the throttle position affects turbine speed? As in when it closes up like when it goes to idle, I imagine that causes you to get very high boost pressure, but does that help the turbine reach speed quicker? Or slower? Or the same? I have some guesses, but would love to know

      @Cobalt512 Před 4 měsíci +1

      The general idea is to keep the turbo as efficient as possible at redline to reduce the possibility of pre-ignition or detonation, by reducing the intake air temperature. Subarus are known for blowing up, and I've got a feeling that the small turbos/restrictive turbine housing are part of that. The other items on the short list are poor coolant flow to cylinder 4, along with no heat shield under the top mount intercooler. I'll keep mining your channel for insights, and thanks for the reply.
