1:36 None of those are "security" and "privacy" features, those are Parental & Content control features. By definition "security" features protect user against illegal access on their account, and "privacy" feature protect user's against linking their real life identity with in-game identity.

It’s basically a slightly more stable Gmod with monetization, a kid-friendly aesthetic, and “item trading.” Including stuff that costs real money. And it targets kids. To spend money.

Gmod - you buy the game and that's it, you have access to variety of servers with different ideas/content/games.
Roblox - Free to Download as a client to enjoy basics but Pay-to-Play for premium content. (Basically a Second Life [If anyone still remembers that])

As someone working in IT industry and gaming daily (I am pretty on par with tech trends) - I had to setup surface pro for my friends kid today and she asked that roblox to be installed.
I realized I am out of the loop (and not so on par with tech trends) when I launched roblox and was stuck at main menu and had to ask a kid: "So how do you start the game?"

I love the overall foundation of these types of games, and I think it has a good chance of making the younger generation.... focus on their creativity. I just don't like the overt greedy capitalism with all those microtransactions. Its good to teach kids, especially, that valuable things cost $ and there's a hierarchy to things... but i just feel bad that some kids are limited due to their financial situation. In real life AND now virtually too lmao
I would prefer that kids play Minecraft than Roblox tbh.
Minecraft is once-off payment for the game and they can enjoy it and it develops creativity.
But at the end of the day - it's all Business, if these games weren't making money - they wouldn't exist I guess.

I was trying to fix my nephew’s iPad and had to reset it. My nephew got upset over deleting data from an app called “Roblox”. I asked what it was and him and his brother got excited. They told me it was a game that had many games + apps? Such is CZcams kind of. I was completely off the grid. Now I’m a bit scared imagining the link between Roblox, meta, and COVID.

I am a nineteen-year-old whose father is asking her to play Roblox for his upcoming interview with the company but... he's asking a MINECRAFT player to play a game that she doesn't want to play on incredibly short notice. I hate to compare the two, since it is clear that they are pretty different despite both being sandbox games with online functionality and ways for people to connect, but based on what I've seen I still prefer Minecraft. It's the fact that you have to pay real money (more often than not) to get Avatar Customization options that turns me away from Roblox. If I'm going to spend hard-earned cash on something, it's gonna be something that I care about like food or a present for my cousin, not an in-game currency. (Minecraft Bedrock does the same thing, I know, but at least there is an option to use a version of the game that doesn't have that functionality. i.e. Minecraft Java)
For Avatar customization, there is called ugc item, you can earn them in every game that include it and it's free but you need some receive condition and also Minecraft is overrated they have new eula and pay2win aspect (even though roblox did the same, not all of them are pay2win)
Orr just do an event to receive a price, but Minecraft event the only annoying thing is that you need to pay to go to event (bedrock issue not Java)

roblox isn't a game it's a game engine with all kinds of games.
So is it like a better marketed Second Life? I played around in Second Life for a few years here & there but there were some issues that prevented it from really getting mainstream inertia. The biggest problems were that you had to spend real money in order to be able to actually build anything or create any kind of content, and the second issue was that the graphics were so high that it took forever to populate a region. I could go somewhere and mess around for like an hour and still not everything even in the vicinity was downloaded.
So is Roblox kinda like a more sustainable version of that?
I wouldn't call it that it's more like youtube for games, you watch people's content and people make content, you can pay to who you watch (play) and support them. That's what roblox is like, a social media platform for playing and making games
So I am 25 just. But I recently met a 14 yr old guy while playing a game. He was talking all day about this... Well... I didn't have any clue, so I looked it up. Now I know., It amazes me how out of touch I am with what games are nowadays for those kids. When I was 14 I would never have played something like this... I used to tell and still sometime explain to my mum and her age group folks that they have no idea about the world today. Well... Seems as though the same goes for me in relation to the next generation behind us. It's crazy, but the world is changing at a dramatically increasing speed with every year. Its almost concerning :/

Also, there aren’t any limits for age (in games). So if you’re under 13 and play a “18+“ game it won’t kick you out it’ll just allow you. But it’s hard to find 18+ games since they’re kinda hidden. You need to SEARCH for them. But not in the sense of search bars. I mean like you need to go to someone who has those games and join it from their profile.

I do not use roblox but in the games I frequent we get players who clearly use roblox they and the vast majority are the a pain in the rear at best many are so badly behaved it beggars belief why are roblox players such a nuance in other games?

3 out of 4 kids are playing these corrupted games? Ugh, how jacked up are the new generations going to be, sad times. I used to play lots of custom Warcraft 3 maps and the idea of having to bring money into that equation to play all that great custom content is awful. Would have totally corrupted the experience and taken away the joy of people just being able to create and play whatever levels they wanted without having to bring in real world economics into the situation past the single initial purchase price everyone paid.

Roblox should be all ages to play. Adults can play because they can be kids like you. Kids grow up as an adult and can keep playing roblox. No matter what people say. Just enjoy what u do. I love roblox so much. I play when i was 20 something i dunno when. Im 26 and tomorrow is my birthday. I will always have Roblox in my heart now.
