    Hi, thanks for your video and I spent this Sunday to replace my starter. Your video not only saved me $300 but also help me learn the value of labor. It gave me the confidence that I can learn how to fix a car and I am going to continue to learn it.

    Thank you for the video. I knocked this out in less than 40 minutes. Interesting location for a starter, but glad it's where it is because I do not have jacks or a lift.

    I've got the intermittent click when starting also. I believe you can just change the solenoid on the starter as it's a separate part, although it looks like you have to remove the starter to replace the solenoid on the starter. Thanks for the video.

      Hey Kev, I did go to school for this, BUT, 95% of what I know, has been learned out here in the field. Thanks for the teacher comment, as I try to explain each video in detail so everyone can do it themselves, and save some money!

    If the starter goes out on my Maxima, I'm definitely going to DIY with your excellent video. What's your experience been with auto parts store starters? I've heard bad things about them.

    • @OnlineAutoRepairVideos
      @OnlineAutoRepairVideos  Před 6 lety

      For a nissan you want to avoid Autozone. We get parts from Fisher and they carry Remy starters, those are pretty good. I've installed those on Nissans and had no problems.

    If you look at time line 17:24 you will see a small vacuum hose north east of the starter. Where does it hook up to? The hose w/o the clamp on it. I didn't see you hook that one up.
    GOD bless and thanks again.

    Tim: 17mm....
    ME: NOPE I will call 1st thing in the morning....
    I just got the alternator, the exhaust fan, the o2 sensors replaced in less than 2 months... imagine having the car, sold to me as a working running car, and it goes out in less than 48 hours... this is my life... it has been in the shop more than I have driven it. :( Thank you for this video... I made sure I sent it to my son with a *HINT HINT* lol

    No click, no crank and no start. 2002 Nissan Maxima 3.5. Could this be a starter issue? New battery and cables, all fuses and relays good plus new plugs and wires.
    Awesome video. Thanks a lot.

    • @OnlineAutoRepairVideos
      @OnlineAutoRepairVideos  Před 6 lety +1

      Hey Neil, what you want to do is take a test light, place the clip end to any good ground, then take the pointed end and place it in the connector on the small wire at the starter. Have someone try to start it, and let me know if that test light lights up.

    • @neilwilliams8608
      @neilwilliams8608 Před 6 lety

      Do you mean the electrical connector that comes from the ignition switch?
      Thanks for your reply.

    • @OnlineAutoRepairVideos
      @OnlineAutoRepairVideos  Před 6 lety +1

      No, down by at the starter.

    • @neilwilliams8608
      @neilwilliams8608 Před 6 lety

      I meant, the connector on the starter where the ignition switch hooks up to.

    • @OnlineAutoRepairVideos
      @OnlineAutoRepairVideos  Před 6 lety +1

      Yes, but that wire may not go straight to the ignition switch, it might go to a "neutral safety switch" first, so this test will see if that switch is good.

    Your removal of the 2002 Nissan Maxima would it be the same removal process for a 2003 Nissan Maxima Auto V6?

    is the procedure the same if its manual transmission nissan maxima? Im getting same issue just clicks but no start at all not even a hint of turn over. New battery installed and cleaned terminals whatnot. Could the problem also be the alternator? Thanks Astral

    • @OnlineAutoRepairVideos

      The starter on the manual transmission maxima is in a different location than the automatic 2002-2003 Maxima. The manual transmission has starter located in front of engine under intake near battery area don't know why Nissan gave the stick shift a different starter location tho
