    I've been Summer carrying in a pocket holster a CW9 for 8 years now. I've got at least 2000 round through it. Never have had the mag issue and it is very accurate for me out to 15 yards.

    The issues listed in this video are primarily individual grip issues, hand issues, and hand placement issues. Subcompact 9mm are snappy by nature, I've yet to shoot one that isn't. As others have stated, practice is the key to small handguns.

    I own a Kahr K9 which is the all steel version. Hundreds of rounds through it no hiccups, no magazine release issue, long but smooth consistent trigger have no problem smacking a soda pop can at 50 feet, one more thing use the pad of your trigger finger and not the crease... class is dismissed... keep shooting

  • @johnnyragadoo2414

    My PM9 is surprisingly accurate. I think the most impressive thing about the gun is the cam used as a sear. The striker is pretty much uncocked until the trigger is pulled. Mine is about a five pound trigger, and because the mechanical advantage from the trigger increases the farther it's pulled, there is no change in the trigger weight throughout the travel. It's about as safe as a double action revolver, and the trigger is about the sweetest DA trigger you could imagine.
    Your mileage, of course, may vary.

    I will acknowledge that hand size and muscle memory can cause problems for certain people on certain firearms.
    With that said I’ve kept my cw9 in my carry rotation for the past 6 years and have had zero issues as far as functionality goes.
    It has ate up anything I’ve ever put through it without a malfunction and has been one of my least finicky guns as far as cleaning goes.
    Just like with any firearm you plan on carrying, and betting your life on if it ever comes to it, ammo applications and rigorous training are the only way to go.
    Small framed pistols are going to be snappy especially if you’re using higher grain defense ammo.
    I’ve seen guys using +p ammo in a baby guns and wonder why it’s all over the place.
    I found that hornady lites in my kahr not only reduce muzzle flash & recoil, but have plenty of expansion to get the job done.

    • @ppowerproductions2953
      @ppowerproductions2953  Před 2 lety +1

      This very well is the reason I'm dont carry the pistol.. It is very snappy with +P ammo in it and I just can't seem to get accurate with it ... May be that I'm anticipating to recoil maybe I'm not getting a clear trigger pull .. I just kept having issues with the firearm so I could not carry it ... I since have moved on to a S&W 9mm and it works great for my CCW.. I initially wanted to buy the Glock 48X but the Kahr was referred to by a friend he had told me it was a good pistol and about the same size .. My mistake was not shooting one before I bought it .. Some pistols are great for people and some pistols aren't I am glad for all the people who have had good luck with cw9 I just have not had this experience.. Thanks for watching and for your comment I do appreciate the feedback!!!!

      @amac8237 Před 2 lety +1

      @@ppowerproductions2953 I made that Same mistake many times LOL.
      Fortunately I found an indoor range close by that carries almost anything so I can try before I buy.
      The kahr is a love/hate relationship for most. It’s real small, has a mile long trigger, a striker spring that feels like you’re pulling on a bow flex, and can be all over the place. But it is tough as nails.
      If you plan on keeping the pistol I suggest checking out Galloway precision. They have some trigger, grip tape, and spring upgrades that might make it more pleasant for you👍

It's most likely me (all bad days shots pull left at 25, we don't really shoot paper just junk we bring so I have no proof) but she has only had two malfunctions. The very first shot outta box with a Hornady critical duty, and one with some aluminum case that my friend brought and shot. He's a noobie kinda, so it was either him, ammo, or both I love it even on the bad days though

    @fsilber330 Před 2 lety +2

    The CW9 barrel is a quarter inch longer than any other gun of its slide length. A good 3.5" where competing guns are barely over 3".
    As for accuracy, it may be the placement of your finger on the trigger. It's a very small gun so you might have too much finger on the trigger. I found that using the tip of my finger allowed me to press it straight to the rear (which is ironic because I have long fingers). I used a Kahr P9 (almost identical) for a 40 hour training course where the other students had service pistols and did rather well, beating several others in the dueling tree shoot-off. The grip roughness was no problem for me because I play tennis, so the skin there is fairly tough.

      Thanks for the advice yeah the video has had mixed reviews in the comment section but this is CZcams after all .. The mag coming out of the gun is the way I hold my pistol and I'm just not very accurate with it .. I know it's mostly user error I just can't see carrying it when I am not able to shoot accurately... The Kar P series are very nice pistols I believe they are a step above the cw 9 but I know lots of other people who love this gun and this is also why I purchased it ... A recommendation from a long time friend but after shooting the 100 rounds it says to break in it shot fine .. After I had taken it out to shoot steel I realized I was having issues with it .. I will definitely take your advice and see what I can do thanks for the help and I appreciate you stopping by the channel

    i love my kahr i bought it for the same reason you did i wanted smallest lightweight 9mm its about 7-8 years ago before all the new single stack 9's flooded the market, little pm9 has been great to me it's still my main carry. Only thing i agree with is the checked grip does dig into you and works your palm like a meat tenderizer but it also give your hand great grip so its kinda give and take. I love it so much soon after i bought a cw380 to have even smaller option. Both have been great, never had a issue with them.

      @ppowerproductions2953  Před 2 lety +1

      Yeah the pm series is great and yes the grip is something to be desired .. The gun works for what it was intended to do .. I could definitely do worse with others that's for sure . I just don't shoot it very well myself but I do have to say once I broke it in it has not had many malfunctions ... In the beginning though it was worrisome.. It definitely will do the job for a self defense pistol and seems to be popular .. If it works for you more power to yah I'm glad for yah .. I think that every gun has its place and every owner has different things that they look for .. Thanks for the comment I enjoyed talking with yah have a great night !!

      @@ppowerproductions2953 Yeah, but it is true that kahr wont work for the majority of people and they are a bit outdated. Single stack sub compacts 9's are everywhere now there is something better, something lighter weight, more compact, higher capacity, more options, better looks ex, ex. There's s&w, walther, springfield xd's, ruger even glock has introduced a single stack and one of my favorite ones the sig 365 is the one I would have bought if it was available back then. I'm still seriously considering buying one but $ isn't quite right these days with all that been going on lately.

      @ppowerproductions2953  Před 2 lety +1

      Yes this is true the firearm isn't all that bad the mag release just isn't good for me and the way I hold my pistols . I have shot it before and had no issues with the mag release ! But the stippling on the grip is very abrasive and will definitely let you know when u have shot it too much . I thought about getting a pm series but I was trying to get something that was about the size of a Glock 48 size bit not the price tag .. And in a way I did buy it for dress because I wanted something very sleek to use in summer months and places that I needed to dress up .. The pm series do seem to be pretty good but IV only shot one a handful of times and do not own one myself!! I may get ahold of the pm series and do a comparison if I can . Well of coarse it is the gun is most always going to be accurate but if I am not accurate with that particular gun what good is it to me .. that's all I'm saying!! Guns can be inaccurate though just in the way of sights being off or poor rifling also smaller barrel can cause a gun to be less accurate .. For the most part the gun is always going to be more accurate than the person so you are absolutely correct 💯 percent thanks for watching and thanks for the comment!!

  • @zachjones1716
    @zachjones1716 Před 2 lety +1

    The super light mag release is the cause of that most likely. They have replacements you can buy that I'm pretty sure are less sensitive. Or, if you practice with it enough that it doesn't flip so much, that won't happen. You need like perfect form with a gun like this. It doesn't respond good to limp wristing or heavy grain ball ammo. I do have a hogue grip on mine too. But, haven't had any of those issues since I changed ammo and got through my first range trip. I use the 7 round mags with the tiny pinky, don't know if that would make a difference either
    Edit: Btw, manual recommends always using the slide release to chamber a round

      Yes I pushed the slide release in with my support hand I'm just not too into the Kahr Cw9 that much I do however think it's a great pistol for the right person .. I will look into replacement parts for it.. it's been pretty reliable after the first 100 rounds it just doesn't fit me .. That doesn't mean I don't have a purpose for it.. I usually carry it when I'm dressing formal like for a funeral or a wedding or anything that I need something very slim and still want to have a handgun on me!! That's funny. I have the opposite problem. I find the magazine difficult to eject because the button is so spongy and it impinges on my middle finger on the other side.
    I did have this problem with my Ruger LCP II, and the only thing that fixed it was an aftermarket extra strength magazine release spring. In that case, it wasn't because I was pressing the button though. The spring was actually so weak that the recoil jarred the button enough to eject it about 1mm.

      Yes this is the truth I hold very aggressively and the mag release always gets hit so for me it's a no go for concealed carry.. I'm glad that it works well for you and can be carried with assurance.. I know others that have carried this gun and had the same issues as me and some that recommended the pistol to me that absolutely love it ... If it wasn't for my hands and popping the mag out every time I'd love the gun .. The only other issue that I had that made me feel uncomfortable carrying is the magazines are not the best I bought straight from Kahr and bought extra mags from them when I purchased the pistol I noticed that the bullets are slightly pushed upward which causes the rounds to fall out of the magazines.. I put them in my pocket at first then at the end of the day about 4 to 6 9mm bullets would be in my pocket .. This never happened with any other firearm.. May be the mags are bad but all of them are this way .. I bought a mag pouch and instead of 6 I got down to one or Two falling out but in a single stack I'd like my rounds to stay put .. I'm not saying it's a garbage gun for everyone just for me ... It doesn't suit me for my needs I also appreciate your comment and it also shows that my situation with a firearm can be different from others .. I have About 700 rounds through mine I just can't carry with confidence .. So I just stick with my S&W Profomance center.. thanks for watching and for the comment!!!!

      Yes I have seen them too the reason I bought it was because of all the great reviews but it has issues and the biggest issue I have with it is the texture on the grip if you hold tight to keep the pistols recoil then your hands will be done after a little bit of shooting .. The gun is always going to be accurate more unless you have major problems it's just not accurate in my hands .. For me the gun sucks but for the woman that can hit at 200 yards it's good .. Just not my thing and my subscribers know that I'm just showing my issues with the firearm not saying that if you want to buy one not to just showing my experience and mine has not been good .. i have the cw45.
    it's pretty light weight.
    i like the kahr 8 ball sight.
    never had a mag drop out.
    i HATE the long trigger.
    i like the stainless slide
    i HATE the checkering. it is BRUTAL. a literal meat grinder.
    HOWEVER - the #1 problem i had with mine was the guide rod getting pushed back into/over the support webbing inside the frame COMPLETELY jamming up the entire slide in the frame. WON'T MOVE AT ALL. won't disassemble. won't eject, won't feed. hard locked.
    SOLUTION !!! AT YOUR OWN RISK !!!!!! tig weld a stainless washer to the head end of the guide rod and shape it to match the inside radius of the frame where it butts against the support web. when finished it will be shaped like a D with the radius facing down.
    mine has never failed or jammed again since performing this mod to the guide rod / head.
    I AM NOT SUGGESTING NOR RECOMMENDING ANYONE PERFORM THIS MODIFICATION. ANY AND ALL MODIFICATIONS OR REPAIRS TO ANY FIREARM SHOULD BE PERFORMED BY QUALIFIED PROFESSIONALS ONLY !!!!!

      Yes I would say the same... Don't Do This And If You Do I Advised You Not Too !! With that said I'm glad you were able to fix the problem ... I have to cover my bases with CZcams.. So yeah ... The mag issue I had in the video had only happened a few times.. It also was due to how I hold. I hit the eject with my hands and thats why it fell out ... So definitely my fault and no fault of the gun!! I definitely agree with the grip texturing or checkering is horrible ... I don't want to shoot anymore after a while ... It's also smaller so gloves especially cold weather ones will not work well !! The trigger is hard to get used to as well .. I am not used to such a long heavy trigger pull .. I have however learned to shoot it pretty good at Self Defense distance.. I have not had the same issues you have with it locking up.. I did run into this issue before with a Taurus millennium 9 mm .. What a head ache ... This was before they had the recall .. I'd say its ok for dress clothes or say a funeral anything that you want to be discreet .. I bought originally for summer and shorts weather over the Glock 48X only because of the price difference.. I figured that the extra rounds didn't justify the 200 extra price tag.. Now I think I would have made my choice different .. The 8 round magazines I bought were 45 dollars a pop ... Also a big issue IV noticed with the magazines are the feed lips don't hold the bullets down where they should be .. I have put a mag in my pocket and numerous bullets will work their way out so when I go to reload I'm short 3 or 4 bullets not good ... They stick up in the air almost like they aren't sitting right in the mag... Thanks for the comment and sharing your experience !! I do appreciate it .. I believe other's do too .. Your comment may help someone else that is going through problems with the same gun... They may think about not buying one after all ... I still think it's a good gun just not good for me !! I enjoyed your review of the Kahr and like you there are times when a good small single stack is a good choice but I am not enamored with the Kahr pistols I have had the opportunity to handle and shoot.

      Yes the gun will always be more accurate than the person ..There are however some things that can contribute to a gun not being accurate... Such as front sight being off rear sight being off bad rifling .. The gun also needs to preferably be comfortable for a person to be able to shoot well .. If all thinking about is how badly this gun sucks to shoot because of the way they textured the grip and I got to make sure to push the ammunition all the way back every time I go to load a pre loaded magazine because if I don't it will jam !! Also if I put the magazine's in my pocket or my range bag I lose like 4 rounds out the the darn thing every time which with limited capacity is not good at all for a carry gun.... It's not a fun thing and I'm less likely to get better with it if I don't want to shoot it !!! This is also why small pocket pistols are not the best with accuracy because not only the barrel is much shorter but there isn't alot to hold on too ... The gun just isn't for me ... I don't like much about it the checkering texture the heavy 7 pound trigger and the fact that it only holds 8 rounds with an extension . Also the magazines are not made well ..The bullets fall out because of poor design and the lips on the mag have the bullets basically pointed straight up in the air .. It's the only gun IV ever owned with that problem.. So yes the gun is usually always more accurate and it's the person behind the gun that is not.. The same gun bought from the same store at the same time can have issues one can work just fine and the other could have to go back for maintenance ... I have pretty great success with all my other firearms I'm no Tex but I still can hit great groups and shoot well ... I don't like the CW9 at all .. If I knew then what I know now I would never had bought it ... It's not a terrible pistol it's just terrible for me!!! You may have one and it fits and works just fineand if that's the case I'm happy for yah... I will not buy another Kahr product again !! I may review some others but as far am myself spending my cash on one nope I won't do it !!! Now as far as it working most of the time yes it is reliable as long as it's cleaned regularly and I don't use hollow point bullets through it. The mag release was my issue and the way I hold so that has only happened a few times but only with this handgun..

    1) Don't clickbait

    Yes, your accuracy isn't that great. Funny how the gun shoots straight for me. Maybe if you exercised and used your hands the grip would not chew your fat and soft as a baby's bottom hands.
    I mean I hit 12 x 12 plates at 50 yards with about 90% accuracy....so...

    If you want a good single stack other than the Shield, trade that Kahr in for a Bersa BP9CC or a Bersa Thunder .380. I have heard both of those Bersa pistols are very good pistols with very good triggers. Bersas are known for their triggers and gun workmanship having Beretta history background. I have a Bersa TPR9C that is about the same size as my Taurus G2c. Both are double stacks. That TPR9C is my favorite sub compact. Sweet trigger in both DA and SA. Mine has been flawless over 600 rounds. But it costs about twice as much as a G2c before the China plague. You need a Bersa. I think you will like pretty much any one of them you get. They are not really budget guns though. More like Smith prices. The big stinker for Bersas is its hard to get extra mags and when you can they aren't cheap. So if you order a Bersa then make sure to order extra mags with it. They usually ship with only one mag. Thanks for sharing.

      Yes I have a thunder in the 380 as nd it is sweet I gave to my sister's husband about a month ago for his birthday great pistol that is for sure solid and very nice to shoot it was the single stack version !! I really liked it but I gave to my brother in law because he is now part of our family and has been wanting a pistol for a long time now but I thought it was a good choice for him out of my collection I will end up buying the newer one with more rounds I think but I have looked at the other bersa before and never did purchase one but I may now thanks for the info but the kahr was one of those it's Cheaper than a Glock 48 x and about the same size .. Honestly I should have gone with something else I will sell it soon ... Thanks for the comment . That video that I shout you out in is coming on Tuesday and it may piss the haters off a bit ..but after that person calling me an ass hole comment I had to post it .. I'm tired of jerks trying to run my channel.. I know I don't know everything but he put a after market part in his firearm and then blamed the gun for his negligence funny how that works ...

    • @rbm6184
      @rbm6184 Před 2 lety +1

      @@ppowerproductions2953 Yes he did. They do that. Put an unapproved aftermarket part in their gun and then blame the gun and company when it fails rather than themselves for taking a risk on that part. Or they fail to clean the gun or break it in if it needs it and blame the gun for their negligence. I have seen their kind before many times. They think the gun company's warranty is an excuse for their negligence to keep the gun clean and maintained. For some reason they think that guns just run on their own with no maintenance or cleaning. Nor do they ever read the owner manual for proper use of the gun. I don't know where they get that wrong idea from. Laziness and negligence is what it is. That and refusing to face reality. They are not responsible gun owners and should not even own the gun if they are not going to take the responsibility for the gun, its proper use, and its safe handling. Haters are going to hate.

    You downvote accuracy. How can we judge? What size is that target? How far away is it? Come'on man! I own a PM9. Accuracy is fine.

    • @ppowerproductions2953
      @ppowerproductions2953  Před 2 lety

      Well the target is a Binchwood Casey shoot- n- c Target it's a 12 inch bulls eye shooting at 7 to 10 yards The accuracy from the pistol itself I'm sure is fine I am just not accurate with it the groups are all over the place plus PM series are different hand guns . PM series have much better internal parts and quality of the product is much better !! We are talking 200 to 300 dollar difference .. I don't have issues shooting any of my other hand guns so this one is definitely a problem for me. Your experience may be different but two different guns two different people..

      P Power Productions Folks might want to check who owns Kahr arms or any gun company for that matter. Where your gun dollars are going might matter to you. I personally would never buy any Kahr arms since its owned by the Moonies cult but others can do what they think is right.

    • @rbm6184
      @rbm6184 Před 2 lety +1

      Normally I only look at the gun design, not the politics, company name, or other garbage attached to it. Be it Springfield and its anti gun record, Canik or other anti US Turkish guns, or any other controversy but a dangerous cult is where I draw the line. If we go far enough back even Smith and Wesson and Ruger among other well known brands have anti gun controversy. I will call out a gun design based on its merits or lack of merit. Whether its a safe gun to shoot or not, its pros and cons, and so on. But its about the gun, not the name on it. Now if Kahr arms was to change ownership it might be a different story for me. Companies have the capacity to improve and get better just like their capacity to get worse.
      The gun industry has never been in the business of protecting the 2A or civil liberties. They are in business to make money. Domestic manufacture and capitalism. But they are slow to learn economics that if they want to sell their products then they must bow to their customers demand as in supply and demand.
