OBSERVATION: Key here is to make sure the kb is levelled with your knee cap as it goes through your legs. That's how you know you're not squatting too much without the foam tube.
Clear and right to the point, started doing swings about 5 days ago, looking for a way to strengthen my back in order to minimize my "bad back episodes", that I had to suffer every now and then, so I need to make a few adjustments, but I think I might be on the right path.
Great video, put me right as I was squatting into my swing. 6 months down the line equals minus 6 " of the waist getting toned with so lean muscle. Not bad for a 59 year old
Yes, it really a good videos with the tips on using kettlebell for weight loss. Please do search for Renkarter Bell Fitness Report. You might get the information on google.
Thank you for your brief and exact explanation! Is there a formula about which weight should I use and is it advisable to increase the weight step by step?
I’m an 89 year old woman who has been lifting heavy weights for more than a year now. I’ve gotten so much stronger that now I can run after the bus again and play football with my kids.
Awesome, and a tip in teaching to always end a video with the correct form and not the incorrect form. The last image of the video can get stuck in people's heads.
It’s works the posterior chain (hamstrings, Glutes, and lower back) and the core (abs and hips) there’s some back involvement due to the pull aspect on the downswing but it’s mostly a ballistic movement for the posterior chain. There’s very little trap and rhomboid involvement since on the upswing the shoulders are mostly guiding the weight. There’s no shrug or anything like that at the top.
I will be a bit contoversial and I will say that by doing any type of swing you will carry to much momentum. By doing that you will simply just get tired with not so much affect. What I changed in it was to use more negative movement on it and to slow down when we have kettlebell in this same position with our ankles. From that position move back up. If anyone is willing to try this and compare with kettlebell normal swing. I'm open to hear your opinion on it ;)
3 years late but i agree this ends up being wasted movemetn and at best cardio if you dont control the negative, after i started controlling it i started to get much more explosive
My back is giving up,as I'm not walking so much anymore... You'd think there are more free roads in countryside. But no, it's much easier to go for a walk in a town. I'm a kind of a nerd, but it gave me position to get stationary bike... So I cycled enough to lose 50kg in 6 months, and the seat almost dug into my hip... Its easy to cycle while listening to podcasts,or watching cartoons and tv. Now I've learned that it's not really the exercise that burns the fat, but the muscle that is trying to keep up with fresh and nutrient flow of blood. So fat is one of the sources of energy that those muscle tissues use as a fuel. I think the muscle tanks some of the fat around itself, but as a more liquid form. Well this isn't anything I believe to be true, but only my vision to the case of how fat burns. I got some dumbbells, but no kettlebell saddly. Still I think working out might give bigger kick than just fondling with keyboard. Also it's a shame these things take quite a lot space.
Think of your arms as rope holding the weight to your body - they do no work beyond that (except maybe slowing the weight at the top of the rep to prevent it from going more than horizontal). The work is done with your hamstrings and glutes, that is where you'll feel the burn.
Did kettlebell swings for the first time ever earlier this week & my upper thighs are killing me! Don't know if that's because i'm squatting to low or because i've never done it before & i'm working muscles that i didn't know i had.
ideally, hamstrings and butt should be sore.. in addition, abs and lats/mid back can also be sore if your quads or low back or sore, you are probably squatting instead of hinging and letting the knees come forward.. check this vid for more details: czcams.com/video/VpHnnXvGv5c/video.html
thanks for going straight into it without spending 10 minutes trying to sell me a pyramid scheme 🙌🏻

Thanks for making this video. Motivates to purchase a weight.
Thanks for showing great form. I wasn't getting that from photos. Can this be done with a free weight? What would that look like?
kettlebell IS a free weight. perhaps you mean a dumbbell?
Very helpful, thank you!

How many reps and sets ? I'm in very good condition.thanks
Good points, where did you get cute shoes?
Great. One little advice, extend the hip as soon as the KB leave the hip. You are extending too late (;
Thanks for the explanation, one question, how many kg do you recommend using?
back always kills me and been told i have good form
Is the Kettlebell Swing meant to work the entire back or primarily the traps and rhomboids?
It’s works the posterior chain (hamstrings, Glutes, and lower back) and the core (abs and hips) there’s some back involvement due to the pull aspect on the downswing but it’s mostly a ballistic movement for the posterior chain. as a very overweight guy, is this exercise safe or recommended? I find squats are good but can be very stressful on my knees and hamstrings
It's fine as long you have good form and don't squat to low
Thanks. Im gonna try this
Thanks for this information I need a kettle bell
If you can't find one near you because of Covid, check out "DIY Kettlebells" on instructables. Can find parts at most big box stores.

Is there any reason not to do this with a rubber-coated olympic plate that has 3 grip points?
Am I doing wrong if I feel fatigue in my lower back?
Sharing the hell out of this with my PT clients :-)
I dont get it. Do you push your arms with your hips or you should also use your arms to swing it. And also, where should I feel the burn at?

How long should I do this for?
