Gotta beat story mode with said character. Or have 100 hours and they'll be all unlocked. Or go to network mode and host a private lobby with ex characters enabled. Then press confirm on your self in the lobby to go into training mode. It'll work there

Zappa's sword staying in place after he attacks with it was a change made in +R. That's how his sword normally worked before. Same thing with the sword's 63214H only giving one orb (the funny thing about this one is that it did in EX mode in the other games; +R swapped them around), Raou not being able to do Darkness Anthem in the air, the sword's 623H being a reversal, the dog's 2D being unblockable, his reversal super would not give any orbs on hit (Zappa's 236P would give 3 orbs on hit); it was all like that before +R.
Before AC, Darkness Anthem only had one follow up (P) and Raou's j.HS could cancel into itself (though it wouldn't bounce on hit), and Zappa's 236P wouldn't give an orb on hit (in EX mode)

I'd argue that it's got more style, but actually worser. Raoh DP and orb follow ups were insanely valuable for original Zappa, and Raoh damage was already nuts from one good opening/punish, so while lengthy loops look dope, they are generally worser than just getting the orb otg.

Raoh has actually always been his weakest summon. He doesn't really have any ways to mix you in it, so even though the damage is so high, laming him out while he has Raoh active to drain the timer on it is pretty doable. His summon strength (for a high level player) goes Dog>=Sword > Ghosts > Roah.

It’s only really “fair” if the characters themselves were bullshit. For example Zappa and testament seem more “fair” because the characters were already extremely busted and so any new experimentation is basically going to be a nerf or a side grade.
Characters like Pot, and Faust became better tho.
