  • This is one of the best walk behind string trimmers I've ever owned.
    Making some real progress on the land but the trimmer got so plugged up with grass that I couldn't change the string. They made it very easy to fix. Well built machine with easy access to bearings and belt.

    I'm with you on the heat. This year hasn't been the hottest but it's kicked my butt so far. I'm seriously considering moving someplace where it doesn't feel like your living on the surface of the sun for 9 months out of the year. Started looking about a month ago.

    I worked on a ship named the MV Lionheart, a RO/RO out of Miami, our call sign was Whiskey Delta Papa Tango. It always made me smile to say that.

    • @bctruck
      @bctruck  Před 8 lety

      What's a RO/RO?

    • @RobbsHomemadeLife
      @RobbsHomemadeLife Před 8 lety

      Roll on/roll off. the entire bow of the ship raises up and a big tongue ramp slides out and the trucks roll on and off. The ramp is massive and lays on the dock, but sometimes the sea makes the ship move at the dock and the ramp slides across the dock and makes a whale noise and the whole ship vibrates. Of course, in a storm it is comforting to know we could open up the bow and let out any water, LOL

    Awesome! I knew you'd like that trimmer! When I lubed mine I always used silicon spray because it dried fast and didn't leave a sticky residue for dirt to stick to. I also used it to treat my mower decks and it really helped keep wet grass from clumping and clogging the deck and bag system.

    • @bctruck

    • @bctruck

      I store beans and rice in heat sealed packages with oxygen absorbers in them. Those packages I store in gamma seal five gallon buckets. I also store tons of beans and rice in cleaned soda bottles. I've been using those over the years and I see no I'll affects from that method of storage either.

    @BCtruck, rebuild, repair,repurpose - Great job on the new land.
    Did you get a land patent on the property?
    Sorry, I don't mean to nosy, but I am. Do you have a warranty deed on your homestead or a land patent?
    I ask because I wasn't sure if you know you can land patent up to 160 acres of property as long as you meet one of three criteria; 1. you live on the land, 2. you maintain the land or 3. you improve the land. The benefit to a land patent is, you no longer have to ask any government agency, (federal, state, county or local), for permission, (get a permit), if you want to make any improvements to it; examples; put in a well, build a shed, build a house or build a ten foot high stone wall to keep the crazy neighbor from throwing her trash on your land. And the property can never be taken away from you, like an eminent domain issue.

    • @bctruck
      @bctruck  Před 8 lety +1

      Jeff, I'll look into that. I've never heard of a land patent before. I can already build a house or drill a well without permits. I hope that never changes.

      +BCtruck, rebuild, repair,repurpose Here In ND if you lose your ranch or farm to the bank you can keep your home and 160 acres. Please send some rain my way.

    • @tblbaby
      @tblbaby Před 8 lety

      Never heard land patent, homestead though around here (not sure it's the same thing) sometimes it's automatic. A Title company can inform you. It's probably done, but you want to make sure your deed is recorded in your name. Title insurance can be a cheap good idea if you didn't already get that. Love that no permit stuff. Governments just naturally grow into a big pain in the ass.

    • @JeffsFreedomGarage
      @JeffsFreedomGarage Před 8 lety +1

      tblbaby - Most title companies hate land patents because it takes money away from them, making their services unneeded and making them pointless.
      Land patents takes power away from all government agencies, banks, real estate companies, utility companies and attorneys. It gives power back to the people that own land. So instead of renting land from counties with a deed, you own the land outright.
      With a land patent and a proper no trespassing sign posting at all 4 corners of your property, no government agency can step foot on your land without a warrant or your absolute permission. The land can never be taken away from you or your family, forever.
      If a government officer ever tresspasses on your land and you tell him or her to leave and they refuse, you can charge them $5000 using Title 18, United States Code, sec. 241. If two or more officers refuse to leave or threaten you with arrest for not permitting them on your land without a warrant, they can be charged with a $10,000 fine each and up to 10 years in jail.
