  • PLEASE NOTE : You do not have to remove spring or linkage to ONLY replace brake band (the band will engage without removing linkage) Sorry just got carried away went straight into strip down. Video purpose is to help assemble all parts when buying new. Stihl ms200t brake band replaced also how to assemble the inners of side casing when clutch cover is purchased brand new as it comes as a bag of bits.
Se my other video : MS200t top handle linkages removed.

Excellent instructions, I watched it 3 times now on my way to replace two 200T handles and springs I cut off the day I bought them many years ago. I realized after using it on another 200T and a 201T I have they don't get in the way like I had imagined and it's always nice to have it as a safety just in case. Thanks for the effort you put into this video to make it easier for the rest of us.

There is a circlip which secures the linkages on the pivot pin but it is missing. There is a groove on the top of the pin for circlip fitment.

thanks for this, like an ejit thinking i would remember to do the reverse of the dissembly i forgot. disagree about the pliers though for the spring, seems easier than the screwdriver method. thanks again

How about lifting then BAND out and turn it 90 degrees to release the BAND since you’re replacing the BAND, not the spring.

thanks for the video, be even better if you manually set the camera's focus so it doesn't constantly adjust focus though, thought you had an old dot matrix printer running in the background at first lol

You don’t need to take the spring out.

I Should have been more vocal about the ball pinching potential during re-springing
