    I've just acquired one of these sates with that type of keypad on it. I do not have the code. How do I reset it? I have the serial number. Do I just give you a call? And maybe for a little fee, you can help me out?

    How do I put the safe in the lock position? Right now my ESL5 wont lock back when I close the safe!!!

    • @StarfleetLockSafeInc
      @StarfleetLockSafeInc  Před 3 lety +1

      John, If you can't get the safe to lock, try new batteries but keep the door open. Put in the new batteries, try the combination and to get the safe to lock with the door open several times before you shut it. If that's your problem, it's an easy fix, if that doesn't work your lock likely failed in the open position (lucky you, at least it's open already!). If the lock has failed it and the keypad will need to be replaced. If you don't have a safe tech in your area you want to use, give us a call and we can help find someone for you.

    For some reason when I enter the code, I don’t hear the beep from each number and the tone afterwards.

    • @StarfleetLockSafeInc
      @StarfleetLockSafeInc  Před 2 lety

      I answered you query on the other video, but let me repost it here for anyone else that might want to ask the same question.
      Which lock do you have? If you have the ESL5 or ESL15, there is a stealth mode that turns off the sound.
      Or you could have a damaged peizo in the keypad.
      If it were a battery issue, the beeps would still sound (probably weaker than usual) but the lock would fail to open.

    What is the cause for the keypad to stay lit up with no function on the keypad at all?

    • @StarfleetLockSafeInc
      @StarfleetLockSafeInc  Před 3 lety

      Mark, I usually see a continuously lit keypad if there is a short of some type. That's what I would suspect. It might be that a new (or different) keypad could get the issue to resolve, but I would suspect the issue is inside the safe lock or cable. If all of the usual things to try doesn't work, like good duracell batteries, tapping on the safe with a deeadblow, etc., then I would recommend you call a qualified safe technician. If needed, we can find you a qualified tech somewhere in your area, just let us know.

      Battery in backwards?

    • @StarfleetLockSafeInc
      @StarfleetLockSafeInc  Před 2 lety

      Rod, I am sorry I didn't see your question sooner. Battery in backwards is difficult to achieve. 9-Volt batteries can only be inserted in the proper orientation on a standard 9-V terminal. If you had a different brand of safe lock, I might suspect that, but not with an ESL lock -- that is as long as you are using the original 9-V terminal(s) that came with the lock. If the terminals were replaced for some reason, then that might be an issue.

    My esl5 blinks and I'm unable to put in my code to open it... what can I do to reset it ?

    • @StarfleetLockSafeInc
      @StarfleetLockSafeInc  Před 2 lety +1

      The blink usually means it is in penalty mode. If it does it continues after the 5 minute timeout, then other issues exist. Most likely it will need to be replaced. Another ESL5 keypad might get it open one more time. If nothing seems to work, I can help you find a safe tech in your area.

    The manual says c followed by #. That's to start the programming.
    The manual never states you must only push c to try your new code. Thanks for coming right out and saying it, multiple times.

    What do I do?

    • @StarfleetLockSafeInc
      @StarfleetLockSafeInc  Před 2 lety

      This could be a few of things. First, penalty mode. Wait up to 15 minutes before trying to enter any codes. Second, low batteries. Replace the batteries with fresh Duracell batteries (check to "Good to" date, should be at least until 2025.) Third, both. Try new batteries and waiting 15 minutes. Fourth, catastrophic failure. Might be a bad keypad or it might be a bad lock. If it is a keypad, a new keypad of the same version must be used or it will definitely fail to operate. (The ESL5 has had at least 2 different versions, and may actually be up to 3 different versions. I need to research this a little more.) If you are still unable to open your safe after trying all of these, we are happy to assist in locating a qualified safe tech in your area.

    What happens if battery dies?

    • @StarfleetLockSafeInc
      @StarfleetLockSafeInc  Před 2 lety

      You should be able to just replace the battery and continue using the lock like you normally do. In rare instances where the safe has sat powered down for months or years, I have seen failure, but most of those are attributed to factors such as human error or corroded components.
