I have an ESL10 that does not beep past either the "C" or "C" with 1st digit. I have replaced the batteries with multiple known good batteries, including brand new, guaranteed until 2027, Duracell batteries. I have also disconnected the communication cable and then reconnected it after 15+ min before reconnecting it. Nothing seems to help. I 100% know the passcode; same since I bought the house 10yrs ago. Opened maybe about once per year. Please let me know your thoughts. Thank you.
I am having a problem opening my ESL5. Every time I press a number it beeps and flashes. As a matter of fact any number I press it beeps and flashes. The battery is new and it’s a Duracell battery 9V. Thank you
Great video - thank youuu
That feature of entering as many numbers as you want before hitting final “6” is awesome!!
Thanks for your video. It helped me manipulate one open today
How do I cancel the 10 minute timer on this?
This is pretty basic, but my ESL wasn't working after I changed the batteries because I put the two Duracells in side by side with the plus side up on both, When I put one battery in with the plus side down - Voila - it worked! Who knew?
I'm a locksmith in e ky.i have one of them
Duracell batteries have ruined several of my flashlight I'd never buy them again now made in China.
We have an ESL10 lock. We’ve changed the batteries. The key pad will beep on the C and the first digit of the combination but the rest of the keypad is silent. We’ve disconnected and reconnected the cable and still only the C and first number of the combo beep. What else could be the issue?
It sounds like the keypad has gone bad. A new keypad should remedy the situation, but after opening the safe, I would recommend that you replace both the lock and keypad. We always suggest that you use a qualified safe technician to perform the swap. If you need help finding one in your area, please call our office and we will be happy to assist you.
I have an American Security safe ESL10. When I enter the correct combination the door doesn't open. I can turn the handle all the way to the left and all the way to the right. I can even turn the handle without entering the combination. Any suggestion?
I am sorry we haven't responded sooner. Without knowing more about your safe, I can only speculate and I would prefer not to do that. Tell me more about the make and model of your safe and I can probably discern your issue. If you would like, please call the shop and, if available, I will be happy to talk to you. If need be, leave a message and I can call you back.
@@StarfleetLockSafeInc Turns out it was the batteries even though I had put in brand new batteries a few months before. I was told batteries go bad faster in Florida because of the heat and humidity while sitting on the shelves. Thank you!
I appreciate the video! But too much talking, just get to the point!
How to reset? Light remains on, only “C” works. Thanks

I love that Anti-peep (spy-proof) you did. Inlove the fact that you can enter as many random digits as you want. At 4:40

Thank you for your comment.
@@StarfleetLockSafeInc What is another name for this feature that recognizes the first 5 digits and then waits for the 6th digit while you enter as many random digits as you want as long as it is not the last digit of the code?
I'm retired from 40 yrs as a locksmith and safe tech. You didn't mention bound boltwork. I had many instants where handle had no play or did seem to have play but items inside the safe where pushed against the back of the door or in the corner blocking the bolt ends, a few I could not release. Try to hold handle in locked direction while entering code. Also I had trouble with some of the yellow Pro Cell batteries not having enough power for the big ESL 10 solenoid, copper tops always worked. The ESL 10 is the most reliable lock around. Nice helpful video.
Thank you for your comment.
Thank you so much for your comment about laying it on it's back. We had to tilt the safe and put the code it tilted and it opened! Amazing help!
Glad that helped someone
I have an ESL10 unit, replaced batteries with Duracell, cleaned the phone type connector, no noticeable damage to wiring, unit beeps correct buttons but on pressing the pound key I hear something clicking inside the safe but can not open. I see screws for removing the base of the unit but surely if I was able to get to the mechanism inside any one could do it. Help please.
Sounds like a failure where the lock is unlocking and then locking almost immediately. It needs to be replaced. To get it open you need to be able to quickly turn the handle before the lock re-locks. Not easy and sometimes impossible. Once it is open, do not lock it back up again until you get the lock and keypad replaced. Good luck. If you need help finding a quality tech in your area, please let us know. Call the shop.
Is there a number I can call
3:53 lady just stand under the safe recording.....impressive.....

AmSec ESL10 will not open. No beeps or LED flashes upon pressing any keys. New batteries, wires OK. Power is to the keypad PC board header. Reseated the keypad ribbon cable and deadbolt RJ, still completely dead - no reaction to any keystrokes. I am assuming the keypad has died and needs to be replaced. 1 year warranty on the AmSec locks? Is it common for AmSec electronic locks to have a lifespan like this? Is this something a replacement lock will eventually do again? Is there a longer-lived, more dependable replacement available for retrofit?
Did you ever resolve it ? I’m having same problem
My ESL20 is still locked out even after the 5 minutes.
This key works this key doesn't show you again this key workd this key doesn't show you again this key works this key doesn't show you again this key works this key doesn't. Maybe he got to a point but I gave up.
I've just acquired one of these sates with that type of keypad on it. I do not have the code. How do I reset it? I have the serial number. Do I just give you a call? And maybe for a little fee, you can help me out?
Will your keypad make noise or light up if not hooked up to the lock mechanism???
I apologize for not getting back to you sooner. The AMSEC safe locks do not operate without the lock and keypad being connected. There are other safe locks that will produce sound or operate a menu screen, but not all.
Nicely done by both these professionals! I have the very same safe and it took 3 smaller guys to install it!😮😅😂
Buenos días amigos tengo una amsec 20 tiene una clave sólo acepta cambio de clave más no acepta usuarios múltiple
I have the 5 but for some reason stopped recognizing combo. I replaced the 5 and used new battery still beeps like it isn’t the combo.
The ESL5 seems to have several problems. I have heard of rare occasions where the lock has even been reset back to factory code. I have also heard of cases where someone has shocked the keypad with static electricity and this has damaged the keypad or lock. I would contact AMSEC and ask them if they can do a reset. You will probably have to have an AMSEC certified technician come out to do the work. Good luck.
I replaced batteries but my amsec 10 won't open. I got single beep after I pressed #
Muchas gracias por las instrucciones de cambio de bateria. Ha sido util. Bendiciones
Mine won’t go to sleep and beeps every time I push any key
It funny I got a Cheep sentry safe same batteries for 10 years or more this esl5 is garbage as soon as I get this safe open i am getting a new safe. 3rd time this things keypad gone out .
That is awesome 👍
so if i enter 1-2-3-4-5-6 it will open
I’m here because a i found a box, obviously I don’t know the code, I would like save the box, I’m going to have to destroy it
will this work on a key pad with a "*" instead of a "C"
its does not have ESL on lock
Yes I have the American security ELS5 and my keypad when I push c does a weird sound and I cannot get my safe opener
I apologize for not responding sooner. I really wish I could hear what sound you are talking about. I have heard weird sounds when there has been something spilled on the keypad. I have heard weird sounds when the keypad has been damaged. I truly believe that all ESL5 locks should be replaced as soon as possible.
Has anyone wired batteries in parallel to give more current for the lock? I have the ESL5 on a safe I bought used, and I've only gotten it to open 2 or 3 times with a new battery. I've taken off the interior panel and can see the mechanism, which isn't binding. I hear the lock click but it doesn't allow the 'striker' to slip out of the way
I apologize for not responding sooner. The ESL5 is a swingbolt type lock. When you enter the code, the motor or solenoid internal to the lock disengages from the swingbolt allowing the bolt to swing out of the way as it is pushed on. If when you enter the code, you hear a click and then push on the flat of the swingbolt, it should swing out of the way. However, if you don't hear a click, then you have lock failure. If you hear a click and it swing clear, it could be in a bind or its simply a lock failure.
Best penatraiting oil is Zep preserve didn't believe it till I used it
ESL5 is trash stop using them. Upgrade to ESL10
Every time I press any key. It beeps multiple times and won’t allow me to enter a code
I have an ESL5 on my safe. I’m always paranoid about it failing. I grew up with dial locks in the safes that we used in our family business, so I’ve always been skeptical about these electronic locks. Would it be advisable to have a spare ESL5 keypad on hand as a back up? Also, how difficult and expensive is it to retrofit a dial lock onto a safe that already has a keypad?
A spare ESL5 keypad would be fine, but which one. There are at least 2 versions of the ESL5 (I think we may be up to 3 versions by now.) I would just go ahead and have the ESL5 replaced with either an ESL10. If a swingbolt type lock is necessary, then I would recommend the SecuRam Basic with EL0601 swingbolt lock. Good Luck.
Some how my ESL5 code changed by itself. Any suggestions other than drilling?
A reset is possible. I usually recommend a qualified safe technician that is registered with AMSEC perform the reset and check the lock and keypad for any other issues. If the problem turns out to be deeper than an incorrect code, he should have the knowledge to get you where your safe opened and repaired. Is a drill necessary? Maybe depending on what the actual issue turns out to be. If you need help finding a qualified tech in your area, let us know.
16:46 Holy Crap! That was tense! Wow!
Hahaha. We sent the link for this video to the manufacturer of the Ultra Lift stairclimber. Their response was that "they were on the edge of their seat watching us." Then they told us the make and model of the replacement battery they now recommend.
This video was very enjoyable, and then got very tense. No Amanda! Get ready to dive out of the way!!!!!!!
JP. We have done some weird safe moves in the past. Some that others would walk away from. This one was typical except for the battery issue.
