Thanks for this video. Our clock has the same problem. I fixed it 5 years ago using the larger portion of the old broken spring but now it has broken again. I guess after 170 years, it's entitled to be a bit brittle. I'll have to find a fresh spring.
@@StarfleetLockSafeInc Thanks. It turned out to be a bit more complicated. Part of the stem of the semi-circular piece of the back had broken off and disappeared. I ended up 3D printing a "spring" to guide and keep downward pressure on the lock-bolt. I doubt it will last 170 years, but it's cheap and easy to reproduce now I've created the file. John
Jeff. Again thank you for your comment. If you liked that video, please check out the video I just posted on our sister channel, Geno's Gizmos. I take an antique safe lock with no keys and create a new key from scratch.
If I knew more about your clock and the dimensions for the lock you need, I might be able to help you. There are a lot of locksmiths from all over the world that we network with. Surely one of them would be able to help you, but only if we knew more about what you need. Could I build one from scratch? Probably. But once again I would need to know more about the clock and the lock needed. The best way to do that would be to bring the clock to my shop. But that may not be as easy as it sounds. Maybe take the door off and bring it in with pictures and dimensions of the framing around the door. If I knew where you resided, I could probably find you a locksmith or similar that might be able to help you. Feel free to email us at ***

Good luck! Hope you’re able to get your hands on what you need to fix it.

Can you, or do you know someone, who could make me a similar lock for my 1760 tallcase clock. Different dimensions. Thanks, Jim
