  • Here I discuss what you should do if you COMPLETELY don't know your Kibbe body type!
    Now, if you at least know which of the five you belong to (natural, dramatic, gamine, classic, or romantic), you should wear those lines.
    This is for the people who don't know at ALL what their type is (gamine or romantic? soft dramatic or theatrical romantic??).

    Very good points made here, thank you. It is no wonder a classic basic wardrobe is often recommended for the general public, and I agree it is a safe place to start. Then you could try out a few accessories or personality pieces in your expected lines and see how you feel in them before making a huge investment.

      Maybe I'll do a Q+A and answer that. :) I think it's any kind of classic--people often distort their own proportions in their minds--for example, they might think some random part of their face is too sharp or too soft (sharper or softer than it actually is) because of insecurities.

  • @samanthaharrell7342

    Rats. I've been torn between soft classic and soft gamine. I tend to wear classic lines because I feel like they look okay on me. But now I realize that was just because it was a safe option. No wonder I can't decide.

    I think keira knightley is a dramatic classic.. she do have long and sharp elements in her face and body, but her eyes are round and big and her body is pretty symetric and proportional. that's why she looks really good in classic clothes..

    • @merriamstyle
      @merriamstyle  Před 6 lety +29

      All bodies are symmetrical and proportional within themselves, but her lines are sharp, and her eyes are almond shaped (answer A), so she is dramatic all the way! If you compare Olivia Munn (a dramatic classic, potentially with lip injections that may throw us off but not sure), you'll see the difference between how Olivia's drama is not as extreme as Keira's (pay attention to Olivia's cheekbones and how Keira's are sharper, and also Olivia's nose is a bit sharp, but not as sharp as Keira's)!

  • @pryvacy1392
    @pryvacy1392 Před 5 lety +14

    I was very confused at first what type I am since my answers didn't match anything. Even though I'm sure I'm gamine I don't care about that I think it's easy to see what compliments you if you just look at your body without typing it. For example if your are tall wear long things and short shorter things, if you are narrow wear fitted clothing, if you have curves wear drapery fabric just copy whatever you've got. That extends to hair to. I've been told for years I look best in bob length hair and now that I've realised it I'm still planning on having long hair but I keep in mind the proportions. My body's very narrow so if I have wild full hair its too much so now I try to wear it in a style even just tucking it behind my ears. I can't wear very long things because I'm small but if I want to it has to be really tight and then I look amazing. Just try not to go against your features, work with them. And remember these are just guidelines on what you look best in, not a rulebook. If you love a certain look keep on wearing it but if you're worried make sure to keep the look going throughout your body to makeup hair shoes accessories etc so it all comes together.

    • @merriamstyle
      @merriamstyle  Před 6 lety +31

      Oh, sure. But at the same time, if a natural would wear romantic or gamine, that would look worse than classic. I was saying if you don't know your type whatsoever, overall, for any type, if I were to give one recommendation, I would say classic is the type of clothing that all types can wear if I had to choose only one (so if someone doesn't know their type at all). But then again, a romantic would look ok in gamine clothing, a natural would look ok in dramatic clothing, a dramatic would look ok in natural clothing....etc. But if you're at that point, and you know your main type, then you don't really have a huge problem!!

      Wondering what role you think personal style plays in this. I know for Keira Knightley for example, her stylist is Leith Clarke, founder of Lula Magazine and Violet Grey, and basically the creator of that girly, gamine style the Keira usually rocks. These days K prefers more covered, feminine styles, that according to Kibbe, don't suit her body/face type. But she's more comfortable and feels more herself in them, so wouldn't she look better in those than in dramatic looks that aren't "her"?

I actually left the latter now officially as after I shared this video (which I think is helpful) I was told to delete it as Kibbe is not an objective body typology. Some bitches be crazy. Did you know you are so widely unpopular because of your opinions? I think its ridiculous. In your experience do people turn fanatical based on body typology? I was shocked.

      @merriamstyle  Před 6 lety +4

      I'm pretty shocked too! I'm not sure why they were offended by the video--I think it's super nice. :/ What opinions do you think people disagree with the most? It's strange I thought it was my color analysis videos that would really get a lot of opposition, but not my Kibbe videos. I never claim it's an objective system this is all art at the end of the day. So strange.

    • @annaanna1981
      @annaanna1981 Před 6 lety

      I wrote that is about lines and geometrics of your angles. They said saying that is is a body typology system is a mistake but about abstract principles.("QUOTE: Kibbe system is not about body type, Type and body typing relies on matching and that is not what Kibbes does. If he did Salma Hayek and Jada Smith would never be the same type yet they are. You do not find your ID by using the quiz and dissecting body parts." Then said have said that your videos is on some sort of list of forbidden/diaproved videos (????) that are wrong. Main reasons: because Charlize T and you are supposed to find how you feel about your clothes for self discovery is now officially an FN, and told me I have to delete it. There was a lot abput height, ex. if you are above 160 cm you cannot be a gamine because ur vertical ine is tooo large etc. Do you have like an FB? Then they posted ur youtube answers to people asking questions as outrageous and said also Aly Art got everything worng. I was shockoooocked. Honestly, your videos are the so informative. I wonder whether there might be some sensitivity ( culturally?) about callibg is a typology ( which it is....) which I have unknowingly tapped into. After writing all this I realised I posted this under the wrong video ( it was supposse dto be under Why you cannot part Kibbe body type).
