    I think an important point is that it is extremely rude to wave hands around in fast motions, as well as point with a single finger. If you are ever complimenting someone's skirt, for example, you should never point at it with one finger whilst exclaiming adoration. But with a single, gentle hand motion, palm up, directing toward's the person's clothes is a much more elegant way to attract attention to something specific.

      Good for you! I hope you continue leading the way with grace and confidence! I, too, love public speaking, but didn't learn that skill until I was in my mid-20's. Before that, any presentation I had to do at school scared me to death!
      It's good to become skilled at this at a young age, it will help you in so many ways as you grow up. Best to you. 😊

      She has indeed a beautiful voice. The soothing part comes from the way we speak and it can be learned like, for example singing. Slow and clear is easy to listen to. Try to listen to someone talking fast (and sometimes loudly). Personally, it stresses me out and it makes difficult to follow them.

    Your videos never disappoint me, Jamila 🎉
    Although hand gestures are important when we are delivering a speech, I think it's essential to control the amount of gestures we do and try to have delicate movements as possible, otherwise we can make the other person feel nervous or distracted by our hands. It happens to me a lot, maybe because I'm a highly sensitive person, that some people who are very frenetic and exagerated with their body language makes me feel a little bit of anxious.

    • @fearlessali2852

      Most of the people don't follow ettiquettes and manners at all.They are even mannerless and rude without even knowing and realising about it.
      That's really awkward, anxious and disturbing for well behaved and we'll mannered people who are highly sensitive.😊

    Thank you babil, for being yourself. All my life I have struggled to fit in, I am same age as yours and I completely get the feeling when you say ' you know how I am' . I always felt so different and sometimes I tried to buckle up and be very much of today's time but then I couldn't be that for very long and struggled internally, it's beautiful to see someone who is very much fine being himself

  • @biblicallyaccuratecockroach
    @biblicallyaccuratecockroach Před 9 měsíci +4

    Many times, I believe, the problem is that people overthink and obsess about details, when if they just ignored it and let their hands just be, they'd most often be fine. It's an art, not a science, every one has their way of communicating, some are more reserved, others are more expressive, what's important is that we understand each other. In my martial arts class there's a student I often train with that's a bit of a perfectionist, and obsesses about the tiniest little wrong thing, and the more she stresses about it the worse the whole sequence becomes. That's the point when I say a stupid joke to make her laugh and relax, and have her do her next attempt while she's still talking, and often it goes better because she's not as tense and just lets it happen. We've been practicing for long enough that her body knows what to do, it's her head that gets in the way. If you think you're doing something wrong, sometimes the answer is to think less, and just do. Let things happen. Find your flow and learn to go with it. I promise you're not as inept as you think. "Oh, but what if I embarrass myself?" It's never going to go as bad as you think. And if you never fail, you'll never succeed; it's called practice. You weren't born knowing how to walk, were you? I don't know when this rant became a pep-talk but here we are. You'll do fine. Think less, and just do.

      I wash my hands a lot, too (related to caring for children, pets and plants). I wouldn't know where you live, but here in the US, a hand cream called "Working Hands" by O'Keefe was a lifesaver for me. You only need a small amount and it is quickly absorbed (so you don't leave greasy handprints everywhere). Haven't found anything better; it makes such a difference. The first time, I found it in the home improvement section! 😄 Neutrogena makes a good one, too (supposedly developed for Norwegian fishermen); but maybe only in Europe. The formula seems to be different and less effective here.

    • @ICherree
      @ICherree Před rokem +1

      @@thekingsdaughter4233 aww, ok. Thank you so much for your suggestions. I currently live in Indonesia. It's not about the formula, but it's about my lazy self, cos whenever I apply the moisturizer I need much more water and soap to sanitize my hands properly. Thus, I only moisturize my skin twice a day, in the morning after I wake up and in the evening before sleeping. I also have a toddler and unfortunately I'm currently a single mother. I need to find my way to achieve that feminine energy, so I can take care of myself properly. God bless you ❤

I would very like if you could do a video with several different scenarios, so we can see hand gestures according to different situations - perhaps 1-2 min video of ie. when eating dinner, with a date, and another with friends. Also other videos with other scenarios ie in an interview, in a breakfast/lunch with boss and colleagues. Also a video when sitting in a meeting with colleagues (how to sit and hand gestures when talking but also when listening to colleagues. Also a video when being in an important meeting with clients. Madam, would you consider making videos or shorts about how to elegantly deal with rude colleagues/bad bosses/bad situations at the workplace? I sometimes lose my calm when I feel attacked at the workplace and sometimes I become too passive in such situations. Neither are good responses to such situations, and in my line of work, there are a lot of such situations. I would love to know how you would deal with such things.

    Thank you so much, Jamila, for your wonderful videos. I have been enjoying watching them and learning a few pointers where my parents' teaching left off. Luckily, my sister and I grew up in the era where the family dined together every night at a fully set dining room table with an extra special Sunday dinner every week. I am very grateful to my parents for the solid foundation they gave me.
    You have such lovely hands, it is a pleasure to watch them as you gesture along with your videos to elaborate upon a point or to place them elegantly on the table in front of you. I have auto immune disease and my nails are in terrible condition. They split, break and tear very easily. I also have arthritis in my hands and they tire quickly. Do you have any suggestions for:
    1) times where I need to stand with a drink or purse in hand?
    2) resting positions that look good but might not show my nails so dominantly or that allow me to completely relax my thumbs?
    By the way, I have always, naturally done the hand drop from wrist gesture. Although, I have to be completely truthful and tell you that when I've done that gesture, I'm standing and have nothing to occupy my right hand. So, with my elbow bent at 90 degrees, my hand dangles from my wrist at my waist and I look like the village idiot! My sister and I both have done it all our lives! 😮
    Thank you so much for any help you may be able to offer me.
    Best to you.

    Thank you ,I have social anxiety cause I’m 5’9! And big hands not petite but not like huge either. So feline hand gestures are crucial for me. I feel so aggressive at times I don’t even like my hands . When I do manicure them I love my hands but I do have hand insecurities. I overcome them with weight loss . Right now I’m a little overweight.
