Interesting comparison. I think both are slightly left field choices compared to more popular BMW 530i, Mercedes E-Class and Audi A6. I have a 2003 S80 mk1 and it still drives nicely. Very comfortable. I like the design and prefer it to S80 mk2 but it looks very old now the S90 mk2 has arrived. I'm starting to look at Citroën C6 2.7 HDI or Jaguar XJ 2.7 TDVI as an inexpensive replacement.
Not all Volvo S80 mk1 were turbo or 4WD. It was available with inline 5-cylinder NA (naturally aspirated non-turbo) and T5 turbo and 6-cylinder NA and T6 twin-turbo. Most are FWD but some AWD models were made but very rare. Manual and automatic transmission available. I have 2003 S80 2.4T SE manual with 5-cylinder turbo and FWD.
25/01/2019 the Jaguar is still taxed and MOT'd until November 2019 so it is still being used. The Volvo however has been scrapped and recycled into smart office chairs for the Jaguar driver's staff to sit on whilst they book in more Volvo's to scrap!
The Volvo i a ugly shit car, nothing else. And no, the S-type is not a Ford. It has 80 procent Jaguar components and has the Ford Lincoln LS plattform that has a suspension that wins most tests against Mercedes and BMW. The gear box is the same as BMW from ZF, one of the best you can get. And the Interieur of the Jaguar since the facelift in 2002 id top of the range for this class. It's a shame to compare a ugly primitive Volvo with a Jaguar.
Has he driven a Jaguar more than 5 minutes....I drive my S Type from Cornwall to Scotland and get out of it after that journey as fresh as I got in! In terms of looks doesn't this guy get it..the Jag is meant to be retro copying the 1960's Jags....AND...space? Do the Volvo seats drop down at the back...the S Types seats fold down to give much more boot space...
The Volvo rear seats do drop down, sir - from levers located in the boot. I've never driven or owned as S-Type (I did have a Rover 75 for a while) but I can assure you I've only ever once sat in a car with more comfortable seats than my Volvo, and that was a Saab 9-5.
Adam.... Are you for real, tjwrey badge snobs that would not dream of buying a ford Mondeo, just need to remember that the X type JAG, is actually a Mondeo. I have a 2006 Volvo S60 SE 2.4L automatic is absolutely no contest for the X type or S type.these jags are a bargain basement car with a Jag badge on it. I know this as when I bought my S60 I looked at the X type and s type also the Rover 75 and the Saab:s and in my opinion nothing was teh we league as the Volvo.
A Jag is not a Jag of old, you can pick an S type or X type up.on a 56 aye for £700, there the same price as a ford focus... Ohhj that's because they are an old ford
@@matterhorn1975 😂😂😂 What would you rather say to somebody, "I drive a Volvo" or "I drive a Jaguar" My grandad used to own an X reg Volvo V40 and what an atrocious thing that was, my Dads 06 X-type 3.0 V6 could smoke the living daylights out of that old heap of shit 😂😂😂
Not accurate. According to real tests with pro GPS measurement high 6 sec. thing is that it's really slow 0-30 but then takes off due to programming of the gearbox. Given that it should do mid 6 seconds if programmed for pure performance but quirky ride. This old car will smoke your 1.5 60-90 mph. Unlike other manufacturers Jaguar don't exaggerate numbers but rather the opposite.
Bought an S80 T6 '99 today, so excited, in two days it's ready for pick up. It's a silver metallic with charcoal black alcantar interior, mmmmm 272hp
Please learn the dfference between a V6 an inline 6...
S80 is an I6 not V.
lmaoo. the guy in the vid was hard to listen to
Sorry young man...I'm buying a Jaguar S-type. Love the retro stying. The engine has lots of power. The handling great. Interior wood gorgeous.
I've got an s type best car I've ever had.

nothing beats volvo seats!
Oh dear..He said Volvo has a V6.....it´s an inline six...
Volvo today still looks fresh and modern
volvo has stately sounding doors
Volvo s80 hands down
I have the 2.7 S-Type and it's the best car I have ever had, and yes, I have had a Volvo.

where did he see that V6 in volvo ???
Both depritiate fast and both I would buy
it's an L6 not v6 twin turbo
if you look at both cars today 2021 the jag has aged nicely and the volvo looks dated
I think the Jag is horrendous but i like the S80. It’s down to personal preferences like everything in the world
yes....S-type interior at model start was ....hmm a mistake. Not a match for the wonderful interior
Presenter is incorrect; The turbocharged model s80 was 4wd and had an inline 5 (as opposed to the naturally-aspirated, fwd, stock online 6

Only Turbocharged? More like a Bi-turbo...
Unfortunately means that the transmission is going to be gone in about 80K miles since it was an awful GM 4-speed unit.
it sucks i have the 4t65e in both of my cars, one lasted 194k highway and the volvo goes out every 39k or so.
@@Lubbocksfinest Needs a rebuild with the Triple Edge Performance kit.

Volvo drive for life
ITS NOT V6 BUT INLINE 6 GOD DARN IT

@@denon7474 Good news then all round.
We are both happy guys...you with your Volvo and me with my Jaguar. Jaguar seats very comfortable as well.
volvo has inline 6, not v6 !!
Jaguar has more style, more refined engine and less wind noise.
I would never say a ford engine was refined
Ford Vs Ford is a better title.
can a Volvo seriously compete against a jag!!! jag all the way!!
You're kidding

You NOU THE VOLVO is WEINER
0-60 in 8 seconds for a 3.0 V6. My mum's 1.8 Civic does that.
I've just ordered a 1.5 3 cylinder turbo Volvo XC40 and even that does 0-60 in 9.4
Nice story... nobody cares. Comparing 2001 cars with 2018.... please
No actually, it shows just how far we've come in such a short amount of time.
Please. If there were no comparisons then nothing would ever improve.
