The V8 Jaguar is back! But this is why you've not seen it for a while...
I'd definitely look to getting the gearbox serviced it will be so much better ❤
Beautiful car! Love Jag V8's... Id love one myself or maybe the XJ8 But they are all too rotten for it to be worth buying one. Once the auto box is service it should feel smoother and probably a tad quicker as the gear changes will be effortless and quicker
i want a jag like this one
Glad you kept the Jaguar. Still looks class, most modern cars are soulless by comparison.
Nice to see it still about. As for the gearbox, i would strongly recommend you service it, its only a couple hundred quid at most, and makes a night and day difference, and also massively prolongs the life of the gearbox.
Correct… don’t flush it, just drain the fluid that wants to come out, new filter and new oil…. Sound investment….
If it’s taking time to engage drive it sounds like it needs a gearbox service
So glad to see you still have the Jag. Can't beat the sound of a Jaguar V8. I've had my XK 4.2 for 6 years now and still love it.
Love the fact you reversed out of your drive at over 40 mph.....😅😅
I actually prefer the dashboard style and flow of the early years. Very graceful.
Finally an update on the s type
I’m sorry it’s taken so long!
@@itsjoelyou should definitely do a gearbox service, I did mine last year and noticed a big difference. Great Video
Yea especially on autos it makes a difference
These Jags sell in Australia for peanuts as does the horrendous nasty Cayenne. What were Porsche thinking??? @@itsjoel
So great to see the Jag again after such a long time, great video Joel✌️
I absolutely love the Jaguar I’m really enjoying your videos. Thank you
Still got my 4.0 S type.
Pacific blue with sunroof.
Had it 6 years.
MOT with no advisories, 52k miles,no rust, not for sale.
Lovely to see it still in the family and working well. 👍👍
Awesome to see another drive in this fantastic car! 😃
Good to see the Jag back. I know the Military Road well, great stretch for a drive. Keep up the good work Joel 👍🏻
Great to see the Jags still going strong! Can't wait to get a Jaaaaaag of my own.
I didn't even think to look at a Jag until you brought this one onto the channel.
Love the JAAAG ❤️Great to see you back in it 👍👍
Great to see the Jag back! By far my favourite car of yours. It would definitely benefit from a gearbox service, I'd strongly recommend it.
Joel awesome to see it again , i sold mine a few months ago as i wasnt using it any more abut gutted tbh , but nic eot see you still got yours brought back memories for me lol
Bravo, nice to see it and i’m glad it’s getting the care it needs.
I love the S-type. I have a 2000 4.0L bought with 34kmiles everything you talked about is why I love it. It is slightly quick than Cadillac Seville 4.6L NorthStar was. Enjoyed your video.
Beautiful classic!
Awesome motor man. Love it!
👍 good to see it back
Almost forgot about this good to see it back
The delay and clunk on the box means it most likely needs a service, you can get a service kit for like £90 and do it yourself or about £360 at a jaguar specialist assuming it has the ZF box like mine.
Had a 3.0 with the same box, from what I remember the 5 speed was a GM or Ford. The six speed used from 2003/2004 was probably ZF. It was still easy job if you can get the car in the air and level.
Love the Italian tune up!!!! Full beans!
Good to see the jaaaag back
I had one in Australia v8 2001 fantastic car, very economical and smooth to drive. Attracted many photos.
You need to sort that offside "A" Pillar roof lining Luke , spoils the cabin interior Budd 🤔
P.S. Owned a few of these old S Type barges over the years, mainly V6,s (petrol) great fun👍
Hi Joel. I was only thinking the other day, what's happened to the Jaaaag! So glad to see it's still in the family - keep it that way! ;) I have a 2002 E65 745i and like your Jaaaag, love the way the V8 works :)
Still the best car on the channel, even with the broken window switch!
Great video. 👍👍👍
I had my 4.0l V8 a type auto gear box serviced and I noticed a difference after
Joel, recommended trans service is approx. every 60-90 thousand miles. However, the hesitation in to drive may be a common issue with the shifter and not the trans and will eventually start shifting into neutral while driving. Try shifting in the "J gate" from drive to left and back and if it immediately goes into drive, it's the shifter and a fairly inexpensive repair of just swapping out for a good used one.
Keep the Jag and get rid of that ugly Teutonic tank!!! No character at all.
are you mental?
The Porsche Cayenne V8 urbo has even more much power, but with every kickdown you blew a 5 £ note through the exhaust. A lot of horses also eat a lot of hay.
For a "small" island i would opt for a Audi, because of the full galvanization to prevent rust.
The Jaaaaag is a welcome comeback on the channel breaks up the suv content.
Still got my 99 Pacific blue s type 4.0 with sunroof.
6 years in,
51k miles.
No rust, went through the MOT with no advisories.
Still not for sale.
Changed a drive shaft last year with a failed boot and CV.
Looking forward to it stopping raining.
This is the maddest kid ive seen on internet i dont know how he gets insurance but he,s kool .
every Jaguar s type has that same clean new car smell I know exactly what you’re talking about
I was told the delay is a solenoid in the gearbox and can be changed. Mines similar but i don't mind ,love my Jag
Watch out for rust from all that lovely salty sea air 😬
That's a fantastic road :o
I would have been involved with building this car in 99, worked on trim and final as a group leader, my section probably fitted that steering wheel and they were a bastard to line up!
I think the car is in the perfect hands right now! Beeing used and appreciated, by the father of the girl you love. I think, that's just poetic.
I had two 4.0 S Types from new, in fact I was one of the earliest customers taking delivery in April 1999. Unfortunately it was plagued with issues and in November 2000 it was changed by Jaguar for another 4.0 litre. The second one was built after some 'body in white' updates which resolved some of the earlier build problems.
Compared to my previous 1995 XJ6, the influence of Ford was clear to see ( the S-Type shared much development with a US Lincoln), but by then the same was the case with the re ised XJ8, where the switchgear and some trim parts were of cheaper quality and clearly Ford derived, both visibly and in the case of the S-Type underneath- Ford Motorpart oil filter as just one example.
However the one thing about the S-Type was the way it drove, it still had all the refinement, if a bit bumpier than an XJ, that always made a Jaguar special.
In all I had, all from new somexsix Jaguar's over a twenty year period, including an X350 XJ6, and then two XF,s - both S model Diesel Portfolios.
I would have stayed with the brand, but in 2015 with the launch of the XE and new XF, Jaguar had decided to chase the likes of Audi and with it came distinctly low rent cabins, so I switched to Maserati and ordered a Ghibli Diesel, and being that I always like my luxuries and gadgets ordered a fully specced car, with the full upgraded leather upholstery. This gave the car the same true luxury feel of my first Jaguar, and in many ways was more of a spiritual successor to my first XJ.
finally, and ifvyou have read this far😮 (sorry for what has become a boring tale of my car ownership!), I switched in June '22 to an EV, and what in many ways still does the true British luxury car 'thing', in the shape of the Genesis Electrified G80. This car was styled by the ex Bentley head of design, and is often confused for a Bentley, however whereas a new Bentley is getting on for £200k the Genesis is more than half the price!
Such a lovely car
Joel is friendly, like a cricket.
I have the same 4L V8 engine in my X308 LWB. They rev out better than the X308 XJR (previously had one) and dont sound like a washing machine on "fast-spin"! On my second gearbox (ZF 5 speed) which I suspect is same as that in your S-type. Agree with others here that have fluid change. If still reluctant to change and clunky then likely you will need a reconditioned box or take your chance with secondhand autobox.
Hope you have it well proofed against the lovely salty air by the sea ;)
Already crusty underneath by the sounds of it, and rust coming through on the paint work. I saw a rather big bit of rust on the outside of the drivers rear arch. The salty sea air will speed up the rust unfortunately
Nothing lasts forever
I've been driving my XF recently and been neglecting the S Type. But I was in Monaco recently, and when I was there (in a rented Tesla!), I saw several S Types and no XFs. The XF is obviously too modern and sterile for the good people of Monaco, and they prefer the character and posh interior of the S Type.
I have an XJ8 love it❤.😊.
JW autoshine are on the isle of white maybe worth a shout.
Glad to see it is still running well. Hopefully keep it away from the dreaded ULEZ zones for years to come.
People criticise Jaguars and lots of other british cars. Have they driven or owned cars they criticise. I don't rate Audi or B.M.W's and not much can be said of modern Mercedes-Benz. I used to be a Mercedes fan, not anymore. My cars are a 6ltr Bentley, XJ8 and a 3ltr Lexus.
Lexus gs and ls are underrated
Yeah, these cars are epic. I hope you can fix the gearbox and the A/C. I think its more efficient than the Cayenne because its a sedan, more lightweight, lower to the ground so probably more aerodynamic. The English channel I just beautiful.
Clarkson secret son he never talks about 😂
keep that jag
What about the MK1 TT?
My dads got a xj8 v8 I love driving that
Damn I miss my jagg
A novel idea. Why not get s bucket & cloth & clean it yourself? ..... 🤔
I was thinking that. He could even make a video of it!
He's too lazy to do that
Gearbox oil change needed….no brainer.
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Would the cayenne really be in 2nd gear 'trying to get up this hill'? 🤔 That's barely a hill at all, even a very low powered supermini wouldn't be in 2nd gear going up there at any reasonable speed
I did think the same to be honest 😅
Cool car! But - what's "...the truth..."?
Next stop. Breakers yard
Hi Joel, get the jag off the I.O.W the salt in the air not good for the old girl.
Very inrteresting and you are a good narrator but get rid of the annoying drum, noise you call music.
its a rusty shed
If you have no evidence of gearbox being serviced of course it does sooner rather than later.
Is that abit of the old car cancer I can see on the drivers side rear arch? Best get that seen to pronto!👍🏻
If you have that Jag, I do not see why you'd drive that Cayenne at all.
Unless you have 4 kids and a dog... or live in a bog.
It will need welding every year until there is nothing left to weld to.
Horrible poorly built cars.
Get back to the mainland quick. With all that salt it will probably disappear quicker than that road.
Proper old man car that is. Horrible bloody thing are you mad or what?
Why is your opening sentence back to front ?
What a fab car
So old man cars go from 0-60 in less that 7 secs? Get real. Bbeats most stuff at traffic lights
