I have the same guitar. I love mine. I noticed you said it probably has a plastic nut. It's actually a synthetic bone nut. Nice review

Thanks for the clarification. Whatever it’s made of, it’s cut well and works great?

This video is and amazing for me because I just ordered the exact same guitar from Adorama today Monday, supposed to be delivered Wednesday. I couldn't pass up this $299 deal. I demoed a Epi Casino worn finish at GC and it was nice and thinking about ordering a gloss vintage sunburst.
Then I saw a worship team member playing a Squire Classic Vibe Starcaster at church on Sunday and was looking at that. I watched a Guitaristas comparison of that, the Epi ES335, the G2622-P90 , a Guild and another brand I wasn't familiar with. The Starcaster had some wiring issues, and is known for having POT issues.
So i was focusing on the new model G2622 with updated Humbuckers and a bone nut when I saw this deal at Adorama so I just ordered it. For the sale price at Adorama, I'll take the synthetic bone nut and the P-90s. As long as you get a good unit you're gold. Looks like Adorama packed the guitar pretty well.
Anything else I was looking at for a reasonable hollow/semi hollow was $429 to $699. I love the Claret Burst color on this one too.
Thanks, your unboxing vid was a confirmation that I should get a good guitar. Gretsch tends to have pretty good quality.
ASA the Electromatics are concerned, they are really nice, but the models I would consider are a bit thicker and heavier and start at $899.
Thanks for the tip on climatizing poly finish guitars. You get very cold and dry in OK. I''m in So AZ and I keep all my USA acoustics in the cases with humidifiers and haven't had a problem. Too bad about your buddy's guitars.

I’ve been playing this guitar for a few weeks now, and honestly like it even more than I did when I started. It’s light, the neck plays beautifully, and the pickups are very clear and dynamic. I’ve got a Gretsch Electromatic with filter’trons and while it’s a great guitar and obviously different tonally, I can’t say in any way that it’s better than this guitar.

@@olddogguitars23Dan- Just got it today and plugged it into a new Fender Mustang LT50 and it sounds good. It's got a slight twang/buzz on the bottom G, B and E strings in places. I'm looking at the neck it's a little straighter on the bottom side vs the top side, this may be the reason. I have to assess this to make sure the neck isn't a little twisted. If it is, it's going back. I've had my experiences with twisted necks, and you just can't fix them. If I add a little more relief to the neck it my be too much for top E, A, and D strings. I could also raise the action on the bottom a little as well. Not going to change anything until I assess this. Otherwise no buzzing. Intonation was pretty close out of the box with the top E being a little sharp. The action was a tad high but not bad. Build quality is good otherwise. Will keep you posted. Vic

@@wikolib6821 my truss rod needed a minor adjustment right out of the box. Hopefully that’s all it needs.

@@olddogguitars23 The neck on the one I got wasn't totally straight, it had bow on the top but not on the bottom. If I increase the bow with the truss rod I'l have too much on the top. And the action need lowering at the bridge, so it's not going to work. Also, the bridge pickup was crooked, high on the bottom. And the QC card wasn't completely filled out. So I put in for an return/exchange, got an answer but no approval yet. Defects Adorama sends you a shippiong label, pays for return shipping and you drop it off at the UPS store.

.Just returned the one I got to Adorama prepaid for replacement. The neck wasn't true and the bridge pickup was crooked, very high on the bottom. We'll see what the replacement looks like. I also ordered a G2622 also from Adorama with the humbuckers on a "secret" email deal of 229. That arrives Monday and hopefully it's a good one. If I keep them both I'll have P90s and Humbuckers. Gotta say the P90s can be a bit noisy and create more feedback.

I've been lusting after a Gretsch for awhile myself. Some of the deals going on right now are hard to pass up.

Seriously, this one is $299 and it’s the best $300 guitar I’ve played by a long shot.

Based on my experience, if you can go a little higher in price, go for an Electromatic rather than Streamline Gretsch (on average about half as much again). The difference is really noticeable and more then that between an Electromatic and Pro-line version (where the price is often 4x as much). I have a ProJet and a TwinJet and love them both (they have Filter'Tron pups, not Broadtrons).

Good to know. I’m sure they have some P90 options on the Electromatics? That was honestly the primary feature I was looking at when I bought this.

Gretsch's Electromatics are nice no argument -I have two, arguably the sweet value point as you impute. That said, because I really wanted these new FideliSonic 90s in a semi-hollow I bought a Streamliner G2622-P90 when one popped up at a too good not to price. The production quality and finish (OEM Samick Indonesia) is nothing short of stunning. If it wasn't for knowing they've saved on cost in the woods and hardware selection, you wouldn't know it wasn't an Electromatic from a BQ, QC & finish perspective. Simply stunning for the price point. As it is, the parts do their job as you'd expect from Gretsch, and the laminated Sapele body (African Mahogany) sounds as fabulous as it looks. Fret ends and level like everything else is up to par. In a sentence, I was blown away by the production quality, playability and price point of this example from the Streamliner range. I'd buy another without hesitation if it appealed to my tonal desire.

I've got the exact same guitar in the same Claret Burst livery Dan. Yours appears a brighter/lighter red top than mine in this vid, guessing possibly because of lighting? MIK pickups are medium output, 7.2k/8.3kOhm respectively.

Yeah, it’s probably the light. There are four 5000K LEDs in this room so it’s not really natural lighting but works well with my old eyes
