He went from never winning a playoff game to winning 3 playoff games, a division title (he’s never done) 12 games (he never done before) the NFC championship and has a chance to win a ring in just ONE season away from Detroit. He’s not even winning 12 games this season when there was turmoil. On offense he really just has Kupp and obj just got right in this offense in the wild card round. A god squad we are not. We’ve just been able to develop the squad and placed him in a position to succeed. Something Detroit never knew how to do. They didn’t even want to build around Barry Sanders. Arguably the best running back of all time and the sole reason why they have 1 playoff win since 1991. Great team we have, but it’s not as great as people make it out to be when you talk about name value. We’ve just been able to build this team and develop players better than others

By not throwing stupid picks at the most critical times. I’ve watched every single Lions game since 2011 and Shannon was right on the nose. He makes ridiculous throws that almost no one else can make(he is MONEY throwing to his left), but then he’ll get picked by a lineman.
He’s tied in the top 10 in pick 6s all-time and he’s thrown more pick 6’s than Aaron Rodgers, Alex Smith, and Russell Wilson combined.
Rams fans should definitely be excited though because he will make the locker room rally around him from day one because he is that type of leader he should give y’all some great moments.

The other factor is the "win now" factor. The Rams have a lot of the pieces but QB was a weak spot. If Stafford can perform well then they have a couple years to make a push. The win now factor has to come into play.

Facts people talking about Stafford being injury prone but as a lions fan watching, Stafford doesn't get injured too much with the exception of this year. He really does not miss games. Stafford deserves to go to L.A. He is underrated and the volume that he was able to produce with all the Head Coach changes is impressive in itself. All he needs is a team and he finally got it. Happy for Staff. Rams are superbowl contenders now and that is a fact.

Totally agree. They fired him way too quickly. Stanford had good seasons with him as coach. I hope the best for Matthew as he goes on to the Rams. As a lifelong lions fan (sadly enough) I will be cheering for him and I think his talent will be seen right away.
@@danmorse2002 Caldwell had to go. he didn’t take over a horrible team, the Lions had good players and a decent roster when Caldwell came and he certainly improved the team but the same exact thing kept happening every year with Caldwell. 9-7, maybe make playoffs or just miss out and still always lost to the good teams. Never was able to run the ball, always slow first half’s followed by 2nd half comebacks only vs bad teams tho, always lost to playoff teams, terrible clock management.
Caldwel got them to a certain point but it was obvious that was his ceiling. The mistake was hiring the disaster that is Patricia who ruined the progress the franchise had made. They needed a guy to take them to the next step and Patricia was just a clown along with the ex GM Bob Quinn.

Eh, Caldwell wasn't the answer himself (don't let Patricia put rose colored glasses over Caldwell's MANY coaching blunders that directly lost games for the Lions). The problem is that the Lions were absolutely incapable of finding a competent replacement.
The Ford family needs to sell the Lions, the only reason that Caldwell shouldn't have been fired from the Lion's is because he shouldn't have ever been hired in the 1st place. Caldwell is just 1 more bum in the long list of bums to Coach the Lion's.

It pains me that almost no one gives Stafford credit for how many comeback wins he has. Only 6 QB's in NFL history have more comeback wins than Stafford. Also, those 6 all played 15-20 seasons vs just 10 for Stafford.

Lions leadership is learning. Barry & Megatron were stuck and it resulted in hurt relationships with the team. Stafford is loved by Lions fans just like Barry and Megatron... They'll be rooting for Stafford to win it all because we all feel Barry and Megatron should've been given that same opportunity. This move shows growth in team ownership. We also got Goff who isn't too bad PLUS the draft picks are a big help for a team who really needs more talent. This could be a win, win, win.
Honestly when Stafford had megatron, he was a different qb. After he retired, it honestly felt like he got way better just cause he had to start making rational decisions on where to throw the football instead of being like "Fu** It, Calvins somewhere over there "
