    The no look pass to Kupp might be the greatest pass I've ever seen! With the Super Bowl on the line! A lot of great throws in history come with a certain amount of luck ( hail Marys and such). This was anything but that! He threw it right where the safety was standing, but he bit on the head fake. People say Mahomes throws the no looker, but I haven't seen him throw it for 25+ yards, right down the middle of the field! And again, this was the game winning drive, end of 4th quarter, to win the Super Bowl! Give this man his props!!!

He's the ultimate gunslinger. He does the sidearm He's done the no look he can launch it down the field. He's mobile. He can truck safeties and linebackers to get those extra couple yards. He's fearless. Any plays with injuries. He's the ultimate Iron man for quarterbacks. There isn't that thing. This man can't do with the ball in his hands. He's done things that Patrick mahomes gets credit for but he's done them beforehand. He's been doing it all along without the credit. Give this man his just desserts. He's phenomenal!

      I wouldn't say every year he played. That's hyperbole and you know it. Everybody was talking about Burrow, I knew Stafford would show up.

    • @james_ford86
      @james_ford86 Před 2 lety

      To be fair, what Burrow accomplished in only his second NFL season is nothing short of IMPRESSIVE. Not many QBs have taken their teams to the Super Bowl that early in their careers, much less won one, and were a MAJOR factor in why their teams got there. Unlike Tom Brady and Ben Roethlisberger (the last two QBs I can remember who did that), Joe Burrow and Jamar Chase were THE primary reasons the Bengals went from the cellar of the division to playing in a Super Bowl this year. Sure, there were other factors too, as football is a team sport, but without Burrow or Chase, I really don't think the Bengals even make the playoffs this year, much less go to the Super Bowl. So, I can understand why people were talking about it a lot. It's not something you see very often.
      That said, I called this way before the Super Bowl even got underway. My wife and I were sitting in a restaurant eating dinner. Some other patrons were talking about the playoff games. I asked who won the KC/Cin game. They told me that Cincy had won. I said, "Good. I wanted them to win, and not because I hate KC. I wanted them to win because the team I want to win the Super Bowl will match up better against the Bengals than the Chiefs." They were like, "What do you mean?" I said, "If KC had won and faced the Rams in the Super Bowl, KC would stand a better chance of winning than the Bengals for a couple of reasons. 1. They have several offensive weapons, like Hill, Kelce, and Mahomes can take off and run on you a lot better than Burrow can. They would be a harder matchup defensively for the Rams, due to the injuries in the Rams' secondary. Jalen Ramsey could shut down Hill, maybe, but Kelce will run roughshod through the linebackers and backup safeties and tear them up. If the Rams start devoting more defensive attention to guard both Kelce and Hill, then Mahomes can gash them. 2. With Cincy, their only real threats are Mixon, Chase, and Burrow. I'm confident the Rams' defensive line can shut down Mixon, or at least limit him, while Ramsey can guard Chase. I'm not scared of the Bengals' other receivers, as they don't need to be doubled to slow them down. So, basically, I feel the Rams stand a better chance of winning the Super Bowl against Cincy because they match up with them better than they do KC."
      Anyone with any football sense could have called that though, as it was fairly obvious. I laid a pretty large bet on the Rams to win it (disregarding the spread), and won a lot of money on it too. Granted, I didn't expect Ramsey to get burned early on, but I had confidence the Rams could still win it. Plus, if the Refs had been doing their jobs on that Higgins OPI non-call, there would have been no need for late-game heroics in the first place. OBJ getting hurt definitely made me a bit nervous, but I was still confident that Stafford could do it based on the decade plus I watched the guy in Detroit. He's always been clutch and anyone who didn't know that before this year is just ignorant.

    Like the only other QB to win a title for the Rams, he had a LONG hard road to get there but he put his head down and 'played good football'. Don't listen to what 'they' say, 'they' like to run their MOUTHS...just WATCH, BEHOLD! When Stafford said 'a couple of rings', know that is what is coming. Awesome video! Editing was on point 🔥. I'm not necessarily a Rams fan, but this run by Stafford was honestly very cool. That Bucs game was by far my favorite game of their whole run. That was the perfect Vintage Stafford type of game. Cam Akers fumbled twice, Cooper Kupp fumbled, and the Center snapped the ball over Staff's head. 4 turnovers that weren't even his fault (which is ironic considering people worried about Stafford throwing INTs before the playoffs started). Rams were crumbling as a team around him, giving Brady every chance to come back. Then, when all momentum seemed lost, Stafford rose above it and lead the game-winning drive with under only a minute left to work with. He pulled through when it mattered most. If the Rams had a game-manager style QB instead, they probably lose that game.

    • @james_ford86
      @james_ford86 Před 2 lety

      @@samael6903 The problem is that the people who vote in Hall of Fame players often use stupid logic when deciding who does or doesn't make it in. Some of the criteria includes both fair and unfair requirements, such as:
      Career passing yards, TDs, and INTs (can be fair, depending on what era the player played in. You can't compare a QB who played in the 1950's to a QB who played in the 2010s. It's just not fair as the game was a LOT different back then compared to 2010)
      Pro Bowls (popularity contest that often shuns players who should make it - You can't tell me Matthew Stafford didn't deserve to be one of the three QBs selected to the NFC Pro Bowl team back in 2011 when he passed for over 5,000 yards and 41 TDs, instead of being an alternate behind Eli Manning, who had a statistically inferior season to Stafford)
      All-Pro selections (also a popularity contest that often snubs players who should make it based on the team they play for)
      Team success (or lack thereof), which is NEVER due to one player, even a QB, unless that QB is straight up horrible and is clearly the problem, despite the rest of the team being good (when a good-to-great QB is playing well, his offensive line, running backs, receivers, and tight ends often deserve a lot of the credit but don't get it, and the same is true for a good QB who plays poorly at times).
      The problem with many so-called "experts" chiming in and saying Matthew Stafford isn't HOF-worthy is that they're judging him for not being able to lift a horrible franchise with decades of dysfunctional operation beyond more than minimal success. They point to things like: Oh, Matthew Stafford had Calvin Johnson for nine years, or He had Golden Tate, Marvin Jones, and Kenny Golladay, and didn't win anything. They would have a point if that wasn't such a narrow view. This conveniently ignores the issues that actually plagued the Lions during those years, and newsflash, Stafford was not one of them.
      During the 12 years that Stafford played for the Lions, he was hurt and on IR for 3 of them, two of which were his rookie and second seasons. So, he really didn't have Calvin Johnson for nine years. He really only had him for like five as Calvin was drafted two years before him and Stafford was hurt his first two years. As soon as Stafford was able to stay healthy, he started putting up respectable numbers year in and year out, especially once Jim Caldwell came in and helped him tone down the aggressiveness enough to curb the INTs he was throwing prior. Calvin retired in the fifth year that Stafford was the full-time starting QB.
      Let's also not forget that, outside of one or two years of Stafford's 12 year career, the Lions had no real running game, ranking last or near last in that department every year. I don't care who your QB and WRs are. If the other team doesn't have to respect your running game and are able to pin their ears back and pass rush all game while sitting back waiting for the pass, you're not going to consistently win games week-in, week-out on an annual basis.
      Furthermore, with the exception of one or two years, the Lions' defense was a sieve and couldn't stop a nosebleed. Both years the Lions' defense was even respectable, the team made the playoffs. It's hard to win games consistently when your defense can't get stops when it matters. Shootouts are not a reliable way to win.
      Let's also not forget that, the one year the Lions had an elite defense (2014- Ranked 2nd in the NFL in scoring defense, were ranked 1st for most of the year), they also made the mistake of hiring their worst offensive coordinator in recent memory in Joe Lombardi, who took a once respectable offensive line, pass-protection-wise anyway, and turned them into turnstiles. Defenders were coming through the A- and B-gaps consistently, getting in Stafford's face almost immediately after the snap on many occasions. He was sacked more times in that season than I care to remember. They still made the playoffs, and would have won the wildcard game against Dallas had they not been hosed on a clear PI call that the NFL even admitted later was a mistake. This was a testament to Stafford's talent, that he could still play well enough, even with pass protection that bad, to win 11 games and put the team in the postseason.
      The point of this long rant is that Stafford has always been a great QB and people couldn't see it because he played on a bad team. If you took any other QB, such as Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, etc., and put the on the Lions as a rookie from day one of their respective careers, and forced them to play with Detroit for 12 years, I GUARANTEE YOU that NONE of them would have done any better. In fact, Tom Brady would be out of the league and no one except die-hard Wolverines or Lions fans would know who he was, as he wouldn't have had Belichick to mold him into the Elite QB he eventually became.

      Its weird that Favre had as many (if not more) brainfarts in games than Stafford but he always got a pass - 'Well, thats just Brett' but somehow Matthew doesn't get cut the same slack, despite the extraordinary highlight throws and 4th quarter heroics in numerous games.

      @@Veaseify Exactly, I tell people all the time Stafford and Farve are so much alike in they'll take chances that other quarterbacks wouldn't dream of because they have the arms to get it there but sometimes they get picked but you have to let those gunslingers sling and know they take chances and live with it.

    This is why you can never listen to reporters or analytics. They always only have one side of the story they never have the complete tangibles. People want to bring up injuries, well that's what happens when you get sacked constantly because you don't have an O-line. People want to bring up interceptions, but they don't want to bring up times rushed out of the pocket. People want to bring up playoff wins, well who was his coach? how many offensive weapons did he have? how good were the defensive lines? Reporters and Analytics just dont actually WATCH these games. They don't watch small market losing teams like the lions. They only time they see them is Thanksgiving. If you don't watch these games you don't truly know how tough and how good Matthew is but the fans do. For years I've been screaming at the mountain tops that Matt was a top 5 qb in the league. I've always said give him the team Patrick Mahomes has, Give him the team that Aaron Rodgers has, Give him the team that Tom Brady has and he can do the same thing.

      Exactly! I've been saying the same thing for years. Did you watch all his games this season?

    Matt is more than a football player. He’s a good guy.
