Most ideal? No not the most ideal. Most ideal would be NO or Kansas City. Rams top 6 tho for sure. KC, NO, SF, TB, GB, LAR. Are the best places to be, Good d, Great coaching, Good O, Cordinators are all good/great.

Stafford didn't just ride a stacked team to the SB win, but he carried the team with 3 game winning drives which was never done before. Listen to Joshua Anthony, right on the money. You can rub your facts in your chest. Detroit Lions is what throws you facts out the window . Never won a playoff game you say? @@justinalley3399 Jim Caldwell was offensive coach too. However, they never head a great offensive coordinator and defensive coordinator at the same time. It is a team sport. Stafford can't do it all. The Lions last year were dead last in defense. Your not going to win many ball games when your defense gives up 400+ yards a game and 30+ points a game. It is no secret to Matt Stafford is a top 10 QB who has had the misfortune of playing on a completely mismanaged team of the Detroit Lions. I live in Michigan and God knows I'll be glad if Dan Campbell and Brad Holmes work out. Yet to be determined. I definitely want Stafford to win a Super Bowl with the Rams. @@kira0298😆😆 right on
hahahahaha of course max couldn’t have been more wrong. what else is new!
What if this ends up being the reverse of the Bobby Layne curse?!? Stafford was basically like the reincarnation of Layne; went to the same high school in Texas (Highland Park) and even broke his records in Detroit.
The Lions were dominant in the pre-1970 Super Bowl era with Layne; winning the NFL Championship in 1952, 1953 and 1957 (They also won in 1935 sans Layne).
In 1958, Detroit traded Layne to the Steelers and he supposedly said that the Lions "wouldn't win for 50 years." Since then the Lions plummeted (especially in 2008...) while the Steelers became dominant, having won 6 Super Bowls.
Fast forward to now, Stafford will be leaving Detroit on good terms (the opposite of what happened to Layne), whereas Goff is leaving the L.A. Rams in a slightly similar fashion to how Layne left.
So could it be possible? Maybe. Am I just being overly hopeful? Maybe. Also, could this just be an extension of the curse and the Lions continue in a downward spiral indefinitely? Unfortunately, more likey. Haha
Either way, I wish everyone involved success and will now be rooting for both the Lions (and Goff) as well as Stafford with the Rams.
This hasn’t aged well for Max. Hahahahahah. What a clown!!!
Lol, so Max...1 yr later, do you still think this is a bad trade for the Rams?

Well Stafford is also a number one pick that actually has proven his worth as well as ability. Even though I don’t like the rams gave away all the first round picks, football is a sport in which you can still find tons of value in the entire draft with even high picks often not panning out at all. Goff is a good example being number 1 and being a decent QB but with all the benefits he has with being on such a good team with the rams and QB friendly coach, he isn’t anywhere near Stafford. You can’t have a team like the rams with great players like Aaron Donald, jalen Ramsay, and no Von Miller and OBJ just to lose solely because of your QB lacking which another perfect example oddly enough is the team the Rams beat to go to the Super Bowl in the Niners as the Niners have absolutely everything a team needs to be a dominant winning team in the NFL on both ends but they don’t have a reliable QB that literally is the sole reason why they lost the Super Bowl and now lost in the NFC chip. Goff proved that he isn’t ready to be a winning QB and has way too much to learn in order to be a consistent and reliable QB. If the Rams don’t win the super bowl this years then you could say this trade was not worth it but it’ll never be a bad or stupid trade.
1st round picks are the most overrated ever
This feels like an NBA trade lol. Star player sent to a contender for multiple first round picks along with a bad contract player to create the cap space for the star.
Agreed that's exactly what it looks like. But do the Lions have the sense to make those picks count ?
Rams might want one of those picks in a few years for a new qb
@@gourami7 not really. QBs playing in to their 40s. Stafford has a least 5 years left. They looked at their current roster and said you gotta go for it. No need to keep running it back
Goff isnt as bad as people are acting like he is
@@newrecruit100 Who says he has 5 years left ?
Not many qbs playing till 40 and Stafford has been beaten up at the Lions
michael Shan: I think Detroit won the trade. Rams mortgaged their future. Meanwhile the bad contract actually serves a purpose for lions moving forward- it helps them suck royally so they will get high draft stocks for a couple yrs, winning 2 or 3 games instead of 6.
They have to win a Super Bowl in 2 years Max says. They won in Stafford's first year. Has Max apologized to Matthew Stafford? I think not.
“You can’t find Aaron Donald in the second round”
You also can’t find him with the 21st pick in the first round
ummmm yea u can
The rams are great at drafting 🤷🏻♂️ no one does more with less than we do in the draft and when you look at the value we get you can’t argue with that
I mean there’s a ton of hall of famers who’ve been drafted after the first round, so the players are there.
@Anthony Simmons my point is that the picks are irrelevant and we saved 20 million almost annually and got a better player....you maybe the only person who considers stafford a underachiever
@Anthony Simmons To be fair that underachiever was on the lions. Stafford is criminally underrated and has had a lack of weapons for almost his entire career. He’s definitely better than Goff
max doesn’t realize that one of those first was probably for the lions to take goffs gigantic contract, he’s average at best
They still gave up too much. Idc how u slice it ! .
They gave up the farm to absorb his bad contract.

You aren't finding Donald or Ramsey at 32 either. Steven A was right on with the analysis here. This is a team that was a top contender, but was a legit franchise QB away. They got one for a good value because of the lack of wins on the Lions. As Stephen A thought, he Rams felt he was capable of being a big time QB. There were no more seasons to waste with this talent and he was likely the only real option. McVay and Snead thought he had the intelligence and physical abiiity to run his offense and take the Rams to a championship and he was right. Even though he wasn't flawless, anyone who watches all the Rams games can see what a difference he made over Goff. He'll be even better next year.

matthew stafford from 2011-2018 didnt miss a game and started every game in 2020 im just saying injury prone
This is a short term league. When you are one or two pieces away.. you have to go get those pieces. Players’ lifespans are too short and unpredictable to think long term. Their core group is only getting older and more impatient with every season. Rams won the deal easy if Stafford lifts them over the hump
I think the important thing is that the lions took the remaining years of goffs contract which will free up cap space the following years after 2021

What Max doesn't realize is that the Rams are not going to have "high" first round picks and you don't get generational talents late in the first round... At least you shouldn't expect to. Agreed. Rams picks next couple years are most likely high 20s at worst.
That, and they had to get out of the Goff contract, or waste the careers of the rest of their roster. If Stafford is good for a year or two, that's about how much Whitworth has left in the tank. Did stephen a just say Stafford was "injury prone?" He started like 150 games straight at one point. He's as durable and tough as any qb.
The Rams get the best guy they've had under center since Kurt Warner, they get someone who has never had a lot of help outside of Megatron but in spite of that performed well for a decade to the tune of being the Lions' consensus best QB ever. Someone who even though he had a decade-best wideout loves spreading the ball around (big with McVay). And conservatively he's got 5 or 6 years left in the league. I'm struggling to see downside here
