    Both 4th down attempts ❌
Gibbs fumble ❌ (He only had 1 all season as a rookie & I give him a pass for this)
    Bobbled interception ❌
    Reynolds 2 drops ❌
The Lions legit went back to their old ways at the worst time possible.

When you are winning, you shouldn't coach like you are losing. A different mindset is necessary. Take the points when you are winning. That makes it more difficult for a team to comeback from a large deficit. No need to be a gambler ALL the time. Like Kenny Rogers said, "You gotta know when to hold 'em; know when to fold 'em; know when to walk away; and know when to run."

Totally agree with Shannon here. My family are Falcons fans and we have a saying: "RUN THE BALL SHANAHAN! IDIOT!". The Lions should have kicked the field goal, and when they lined up to go for it I turned to my daughter and said "if they don't make it they'll lose this game". The situation called for a kick. If you miss it you're in the same boat, but if you make it you have put the 49s behind by three scores and kept the crowd out of it. I'm no analyst or coach, but it seemed like the smart, easy call to me.

You have to factor you're on the road and the crowd is out of it. Kick the FG, up 3 scores and the game is basically over.
The 2nd one was just beyond me. If you score a TD, SF still gets the ball with a chance to win. If you don't get it and they score a TD, game is over. An all time blunder and indefensible decision.

Vs the Cowboys they had 3 chances to kick the PAT. He kept going for 2 and they lost the game. Finished the year 12-5, just like SF & Dallas. Could've had the 1 seed. This is an ego issue. Whether you win by 50 or by 1, a win is a win. SF comes out of the half and you hold them to 3, you get down in field goal range and don't want to match their 3 to keep it a 17 pt game? He knew the key to winning the game was maximizing offensive possessions. I'm pissed he didn't go for the touchdown at the end of the half. If they get that, they go up 21 and win. He does not have an ego issue at all. You're crazy for even thinking that my man. Bringing up the Cowboys game too smh. They ultimately went for 2 from the 3 instead of the 2 yard line. That's a marginal difference. Detroit is not as good of a team as San Fran and they're on the road. Let be 100% clear. Dan Campbell lost this game being stubborn. In the playoffs, you always take the points, not the risk. Dan keeps wanting to go for it on the 4th when there are points to take. His stubbornness cost them the Super Bowl. Yes, the 49'ers had a great comeback, but if it wasn't for Dan passing up on points, the 49'ers would have lost this game. If I am the owner. I need to see you in my office the moment the plane lands in Detroit. The owner needs to make it clear. If I see you pass up on points again, your @ will be fired. I remember praising Campbell in the first half because he had the intelligence to kick a FG to go up by 3 scores (17 points) instead of gambling, I thought I misjudged him as reckless. Then he gets put in the exact same spot in the 3rd quarter (4th and 2, 24-10 in FG range) and inexplicably goes for it despite having the ability to go up 3 scores. Then he chooses to not make it a tie game in FG range on a 4th and 3. And when he ran the ball at the end of the game and needed to burn that TO, it was clear that his smart move at the end of the 1st half was probably just his "gut" agreeing with the numbers for once.
DC is a great motivator and a great leader, but his decision-making is atrocious; he is both the reason why the Lions made it this far and the reason they lost that game. He can learn from this experience, but his Lions may not be in this situation again, either.

Stop acting like the Lions kicker would have for sure made a 45 yard + field goal. Campbell trusts his players a ton (Lions had converted 19 of their past 24 4th down tries) and the aggressive play is the reason they’re there. Might as well stick with it, especially if there’s very limited faith in the kicker. Funny how no one is talking about how bad Bagley is from these distances, some people clearly didn’t watch this team all season (full games).

Sometimes the percentage play (especially if you are leading) is the right play even if analytics say otherwise. Just because they were highly successful all season doing it doesn't mean that you have to automatically keep doing it, especially in the Playoffs.......the law of averages will usually come back to bite you at some point and in the Playoffs the consequences of failure (i.e. the potential change of momentum) can have a far more greater impact on both teams than you realise at the time.

@@xcwilliams7980 That's true, but the analytics are numbers in a vacuum and need to be adjusted to the situation. That's where understanding things beyond the numbers kicks in. In the exact same scenario in a regular season game, say against a sub-.500 opponent sure, that team might not come back and win. But this is the playoffs. You lose that gamble and you bring the crowd back into the game, you give the other team a reason to believe, and suddenly they smell the blood in the water. Analytics doesn't go out the window, but the high-stakes intensity of the situation changes so many of the variables that effect outcomes. Long story short, kick the FG.

That timeout at the end of the game was absolutely unconscionable. Say what you will about the other calls, but an NFL head coach has to know that under no circumstances can you take a timeout at that moment. There is absolutely no excuse for that. The game was over as soon as he took that timeout. It was actually shocking to see a coach at that level make a call like that. I think it is fair to question Dan Campbell's in-game coaching decisions when you factor in the fact that he didn't kick it to tie the game, and the stuff from the Cowboys game. He has great traits as a coach, but there is no doubt that his in-game decision making is severely lacking.

Going for the 4th down is a risk/return thing, but "return" measured very differently in different situations. When you had a big lead, 7 vs 3 points wouldn't make a big difference -- maintaining the lead would be disheartening enough for your opponent. But for the trailing team, stop bleeding is about live-or-die. In short, your gain (if succeeded) vs their gain (if failed) was not proportional. I am a 49er's fan, I was "crying" for the lions to run for 4th down in the 3rd quarter, because I thought that'd be our only opportunity to come back

Run the ball and kick both field goals in the 3rd and 4th quarter and put yourself in position to put the pressure on the 49ers to come from behind

I don’t think we would be killing Dan if he took the 3 points tbh. As fans thats what we are used to

Yep, take the points, you keep the pressure on Niners. They have to score and the clock keeps on running.

Not taking them field goals and not converting made them play tight and tighter u take them points to give your team a cushion so they don’t have to play so tight

Momentum is everything. MCDC was looking for a big passing play that would give thw team some confidence and momentum. They ran the ball after gibbs fumble and got nothing. 9ers defense just stepped up in 2nd. Our defense is the problem I have with the lions. When you offense struggles. The defense should step up and don't.

He kicked the field goal so that touchdown that you got at the end then you could’ve decided if you wanted to go for the win with the 2 or Ot
