There is no faction armour in Fallout 3. To anyone confused as to why the "converted" Brotherhood member attacked the other, you have to know more about how the Mesmetron works. On first hit it has a chance to Stun a target where you can initiate dialogue and take their gear. If a target is hit multiple times with the Mesmetron they may; a) Attack anyone on sight b) Be stunned again c) Have their head fucking explode. The Mesmetron may also do any of these to a target on the first hit. In conclusion, it wasn't the armour that made the Brotherhood Paladin open fire on the "converted" Initiate, it was the Mesmetron sending the Initiate into a frenzy that caused the Paladin to defend themselves.
@@TheIvanNewb I don’t see why they would start a civil war, it’s the mesmatron causing an NPC to go crazy and fire at anyone, so I’m not sure they would defend a crazed shooter who would shoot them afterwords
Both the brotherhood and the outcasts have different faction ID's, and they hate each other. If this is completely legit and not tempered with, then this video shows that their faction ID changes with the power armor they wear. I do doubt the legitimacy of this though because I don't think that brotherhood initiates are allowed to wear power armor, but don't quote me on that since I haven't played the game in a long time.
@@darxidedeity The Outcast power armor and helmet don't have any script attached, so there's no way it could've changed faction relations here. If that was the case, the Brotherhood would react hostile everytime you wear it as well.

I think the biggest failure of FO 3, and you can say even 1 and 2, is not being able to join the "badguys" and having the awful Karma system and barely or no faction system.

What if you did that with an unkillable NPC in the Citadel?

The Mez doesn't work on immortal NPCs so they'd just go hostile and try to kill you.

I think what might have actually happened here is the second shot of the Mesmetron frenzied the Initiate into attacking the Knight.
This must be what happened, Fallout 3 doesn’t have a disguise system like in New Vegas.
