Karjakin would be in the top spot had it not been for two marriages, a child, changing sides when his country was being torn apart, and had he kept in shape...
Alejandro Montel Carlsen, in Blitz, accepted a Draw offer from him and he looked relieved when they shook on it....Carlsen even initiated a 5-move repetition, though the moves were repeated primarily so as not to undercut the time spent on finding a proper continuation of the, at that point, significantly unclear position. Chess.com has a great video of the Game.
Because if he didn't g5 with g4 would come. Grischuk can't play g5 cuz his bishop defends d8 square .. so after immediate g5, Sd8 comes and takes on e6 .. White cannot play that for a win, especially cuz of weak pawns on black fields .. fair result, but if someone here can play or a win - it's Grischuk ;)
A strange decision by Grischuk to exchange a rook for a bad bishop and two pawns at around 5:10. He could have swapped rooks with Rxe1 and then played Nxa3 where black is a solid pawn up with a better position.
that's actually a terrible position because of bishop on h4 is dead and white will have better chances to win with every exchange thats why grishcuk wanted to play something unusual
Grischuk has no fear!!! A pure chess killer
Grischuk likes playing the Caro-Kann in blitz games
well Caro-Kann is mega solid, a great choice to play for a draw in a blitz game, in my opinion
Such an epic draw. Both of these lads are lions.
Espectacular
During 8:15 and 8:37, Grischuk checked the time 10x. :)
Table 2, in the background in the right... Magnus! :D
at 4.34 why doenst white move king to f1 and the rook is trapped?
Twins?
The refree voice is always the same :D
True :)
im assuming they went for a draw
pero vamos a ver, karjakin no podía presionarlo con calidad de más?
If Kf1, then Rxe3. The f2 pawn is pinned and the rook can't be recaptured.
In Russia, draw offers YOU.
Grischuk had a winnable board, but took the draw with only 5 seconds on the clock.
awesome game
Is the board plugged-in ?! Why?
ebrahim mehri for screen casting
Rf1 is met with Rxe3 and it cannot be recaptured.
its called the left genius
За блицем и рапидом не слежу...

How you no that???
Because of RxB, pawn cannot take, pinned by the rook
Why Karkajin accept draws?

not afraid?
actually after Kf1 Rxe3 is lost for white, so i guess he would rather play that...^^
se parece a messi el de polo claro jaja
He sacced anyway he would still play Rxf2. But position is lost, yes.
Tablas
Ha, not really, just a nervous tic
