    The best Mercruiser carb rebuild video on eBay, hands down. Great details, you speak so well. This looks so doable with these instructions. Now I can attempt it with no pressure.

      @@MikesCarburetor Hi Mike please make a note on this video that you may have put the accelerator pump on the wrong way, a few CZcamsrs brought this up and commented about that. Please check. I could be wrong but I checked part 1 of disassembly and it looks like you put it in wrong on Video 2.

    2 issues I had. That power piston plunger wouldn't pop out so easily.... So I cleaned it thoroughly and left it in..., also the main power jet was a lil different. It had a pin, a spring and a nut in it. Replaced it with the new parts... Let's see if she fires up tomrw. I'm Keeping my fingers crossed. Overall this video helped me out tremendously... Big thanks Mike.

    I have a Mercruiser 5.0 with TKS carb that was giving me trouble in the beginning of this summer, I changed it out with a older electric choke carb to get me through the summer and verify that I indeed had a carb problem. I now have the time to rebuild the TKS carb. I have noticed looking down into the throat that there is a buildup of carbon on the venturi, everything below the venturi is clean, what would cause this and where should I focus my rebuild/cleaning?

    Hello Mike
    I just took apart my mercarb needed a cleaning after sitting for a couple years. I watched your video on the fast idle and choke adjustment my carb looks very similar but it doesn't seem to have any variation in the cam to open the throttle when the choke opens also doesn't have the bend at the bottom of the throttle to open the choke on full throttle did they make an older model carb without those features?

    Quick question I have this same mer carb you show here but I have 2 holes in the accelerator pump Gally floor like mentioned in your other video. I put the ball in there is that correct on this model? Or do I need to take apart and remove ball?

    I rebuilt my 2bbl, carb. Why is there fuel going into crankcase (Oil). I have an electric fuel pump with 5 p.s.i. spark plugs are flooded with fuel. Told either I did something wrong, or just a bad card. What do you think it is?

    Mike, the accelerator pump may be installed the wrong way. I did what you are showing but the arm of the pump with the c-clip gets hung up on the body of the carb when its assembled. There's a larger area for it to move inbound. I dont have any issue when its flipped the opposite way. Do you think there is an issue with the way Im doing it?

    • @eaglescoveestates7175
      @eaglescoveestates7175 Před 4 lety +1

      @@MikesCarburetor Mike, I also ran into the same problem. When the arm of the pump is installed as you show in the video the accelerator pump hangs up. Spent several hours trying to figure out what was the problem. This is a great quality video, it may be very helpful if you put a notation into your video to show the correction to save others the same issue. Thanks for your great videos.

    Awesome video, helped alot Mike. Thank you. I feel a bit of resistance when the accelerater pump lever moves. Is this just because the pump is new and needs to break in a bit??

    • @MikesCarburetor
      @MikesCarburetor  Před rokem

      Make sure the rubber didn't curl over. Also if the check ball in the discharge isn't lifting it would cause the pump to stroke hard. Did you smooth the pump well with crocus cloth. www.carburetor-parts.com/sanding-cloth-cc2

      Mikes Carburetor there is a opened package which reads 31-744 16B2. I just noticed the holes on seat are smaller diameter on new one vs old one.

    At 18:44 you show the throttle arm when fully open, opens the choke plate a little - My throttle arm does not have a tang on it that opens the choke when the throttle is fully open. Is this normal?

    • @1973deepee
      @1973deepee Před 4 lety

      Mine, a 3310-805924A-1 (stamped 05924A-1), does not have the choke unloader adjustment tang. Instead, there is an air bypass built into the top, right next to where a gap would be measured in the choke valve such that when the valve is completely closed, air can enter the throat. Hope that helps someone.

      Not sure. I would have to test it against the ethanol gas. I know wd14 will ruin the gaskets.
