  • As you will hear the bearings are completely shot on our Hotpoint Aquarius WMF760 washer dryer.. So its time to strip it down and replace them...Nice easy job...What could possibly go wrong ?
Spilt into 2 parts as part one was a total PITA !!!

Yeah it's very frustrating, as a qualified product designer and a working engineer that changes bearing multiple times a week, it's criminal that it's this hard to change a bearing that would save a fully working machine, but they know what they are doing! Anyway, thanks again for the upload and good luck. @@AdeReeves

Thank you for video. I am amateur DIY enthusiast and have the same problem. Tried the basics at first like oiling where I thought bearing was. After this I realise no chance buying a £25 bearing and going through all this trouble. To much of a gamble. Yes I think things were simpler in the old days to repair.

Usually nowadays with washing machine companies like Hotpoint and Beko for example uses sealed tubs now mainly since its more cheaper during the making of the machines but it makes it alot more difficult to replace the bearings or spider since you would have to saw the tub in half

Anything to make you spend extra money for a repair man to replace the bearings! That’s the only reason why the tubs sealed so they have to do the job for you so they can make money. I’ve got two Hotpoints one from the 2000 and one from 2018 and the differences is quite remarkable really it’s crazy what indesit have done to them. They have changed a lot of things which aren’t really good but they are still useable and can last

I know what you mean sir...I did a old Hotpoint washer many moons ago...when i moved into my first flat...was given to me due to the bearings...looked like it had been well used, but after the bearing chaged worked a treat and lasted for years, Even sold it on when i moved and its probably still going...I really hate the throw away culture we have now..

I would also before you squirt adhesive pilot drill 2mm holes and put a stainless self tapping pan head screw every 100 mm around seal flange do this while its wet as the adhesive won't hold long ..

I have just put my drum back together, and I am waiting for the sealant to go off. I also put about 15 nuts and bolts around it just to make sure, I would'nt want it to split apart after a few months of use. Better to be safe than sorry.

Ahhh man, can not balance my machine for the life of me.. New springs, feet and shocks... Although the shocks were new straight from hotpoint, they seem weak and easy to pull apart! Bearing fine also... Its walking around the kitchen on the last spin.. Hoping it will walk to the scrap heap! 😅 🤣 On a serious note though.. Any ideas on what else maybe going on.. I've tried everything I can... Great video BTW 😁

After watching this ill give this job a pass.
I think it's absolutely ridiculous and very wasteful of companies to make machines that are not cost effective to have repaired or making sealed units like that to make it more difficult. I'm sure the government were supposed to set out a plan to only allow fixable appliances with ready available parts to fix. To help the environment and stop less waste. Kudos to you for revealing the difficulty in this particular task. A cost effective design that increases production and speed built with crap part's. Back in the day machines were made to last I remember my mother must of had the same washing for at least 10 years as kid.

Always makes me laugh that you can buy bearings for washing machines, but the drums are all sealed so in the drum is the biggest waste of time and ceiling. The drum back together is not to be trusted.
