I was born in 93 and looked up to him so much. Its crazy to think when i was young i wanted so bad to trade lives with him, i grew up with abusive parents and grew up in a drug house. He use to help me escape and laugh all the time with even stevens and had holes on repeat. Crazy to think the person that would help me escape my pain and anger, needed someone to help him just as much. Truly rooting for this man.

The amazing thing about Shia, is there is no facade directing a commercial for who he wants you to think he is. He seems completely absent of ego, and doesn't protect you or himself from his imperfections. Instead he redefines what it is to be vulnerable and lives in each moment with pure candidness. You don't meet many people in general, let alone from Hollywood, who are as authentically themselves for better or worse. Its tough to gaze into the mirror for long enough to recognize the abyss, and Shia has clearly started that journey.

God yes. Definitely an influence for my own writing and directing-it’s no bullshit with him, ever. Lol in a way I empathize.. myself, being a child creative turned fuck up from a narc grandma and developing terrible coping mechanisms)
But every time I over share or talk about bizarre shit in my life, I don’t feel ashamed or embarrassed.. I feel truly free. I know it’s jarring to some people (if not everyone lmao) but I don’t really give a fuck 😅

@@taoistr966 ??? This actually makes no sense. It's turning an abusive past experience into a well-made, authentic, positive outlook for the future and just a good movie product in general. You need to turn your abuse into something not negative, whether that be directly turning that experience into something you can take insights from or using the insights from it to creature futher positive things. Nothing about it makes him a hero for creating something good out of something horrible, it just is authentic. If you don't "make abuse positive" in some facet you are wallowing in regret and misery and not progressing with your life, you need the fuel from the trauma to push yourself further.

Outstanding truely open heart, honest, personal exploratory talk from Shia both as an actor and even more as such a giving and selfless human being...Wow! You can see how truthful Shia's journey has been with this movie especially from the audience reactions and how deeply it is resonating personally on that human level as well as from the respect for the acting from all these amazing actors and the organic processes from the director, editing, crew everyone but ultimately how this truthfulness and honesty and sincere search for healing, redemption, forgiveness and rebirth has begun with Shia and his father in real life! There is the real proof of this pudding. Mega props and boundless respect to Shia and all who pulled off this amazing endeavor with this movie to share with the world! 😎💔💖

Coming from a similar background I applaud how you went about telling the tale and embraced the humanity. We can go endless generations flawed but it takes just as many generations of attempts to climb out of the depths of bad behavior and overcome the demons that keep us down. The final scene with the father holding on to the son on the motorcycle got me. So good. 👏🏻👏🏻❤️

I love Shia LaBeouf and always have I think he's amazing and one of the best actors of our time and i love him even more for being so honest and raw... He's played a variety of different roles and kills each and every one. I am not much of a follower of any topic really, I love certain movies, songs or people here and there and half the time couldn't tell you their names. I've always felt a connection to Shia LaBeouf though even before social media had so many negative things to say and focus on... I know I'm a little late but I'm just seeing honey boy trailer and I can't wait to watch. I myself have PTSD from the way I grew up and FYI it's no joke it's a daily struggle even now at 38. It seems the older I'm getting the harder I struggle which to me makes no sense but is whats happening so I'd love to see the media not dwell on his issues all the time cuz we all have them some are just better at hiding it or are so worried about what people may think about them they're able to fake it. Instead let's celebrate him for the amazing actor he is!!!

I feel like Shia could be a life guru or something similar. Things he's been through have made him very wise. You can tell that he seriously re-evaluated his life in that institution. I really wish Shia could be the reasoning voice in my head every time I'm about to make a bad decision
