Can I install the switchbot facing the window but not facing the room? Will direct sunlight break the switchbot?
You install facing the window, it's supposed to be behind your curtain facing outside. You can buy a solar panel to passively charge them.
Got 2 of those for my living room curtains; very easy to install and setup, they worked perfect... for about 3 months.
A week ago,the right side bot started ignoring calibration - it'll keep running way past its stop point, and wont open when it should. Redid calibration, factory reset the bot, reset the hub, deleted the device and readded... nothing seems to help. Anyone out there with a similar issue?
Hasn’t happened to me but I’ve found switchbot customer support to be outstanding when things go wrong. Message them via the feedback option in the app, I’m sure they’ll be able to help
Did they replace it for you ?
@@markhowards420 the problem went away after a firmware and app update a couple of weeks later, haven't had any issues since then thankfully

This device is very good. I like the idea as I can use my existing curtain pole, especially as I live in a period style house. Unfortunately, I cannot see how this device would evenly gather the fabric as it opens. The device would need to iterate back and forth as it pulled along the curtain. Also, does it have the ability to stop 2/3 along, so the remainder can be tied back?
The device has the ability to do this with the add on chain in the box. With regards to stopping midway, you can program this in the app - anywhere between 1-100% open can be set. Hope I’m not too late or will help others with questions.

Yes unfortunately. I found a discount code for $30 off using honey so I suggest doing that. If you want to use Alexa with it you gotta buy the hub and do that at purchase so you can buy it in a combo and save more money

like the features, setup was difficult for some of my devices (August Door lock, czcams.com/users/postUgkxhB5YOMNj04GuoAosExygP4cH-dKeb4aB Bose speaker)... but all switches and outlets (5), thermostat, tankless water heater. Unfortunately all I can do is turn on/off Bose. It doesn't support volume or changing channels, but I believe that is due to the particular speaker I have.... Worth getting if you already have other devices to use it with... I don't sit around and ask Alexa questions much so that doesn't really matter to me....

I bought 4 sets of these thinking that they were a good idea to buy and they do not work. I took the curtain rod down to paint the room and emailed them about returning the product back to them and they kept asking for a video to show that it does not work. I am not putting them back up and hooking everything back up after putting them all back in boxes. Do not buy and waste your money.

Good idea, but $169 is too much for a 1 second job, more when each window uses 2 separated curtains, so you imagine pay $340 for just one window. this is a rip off.
