  • Toyota Tacoma is NOT SELLING for These 6 Shocking Reasons! The Toyota Tacoma has consistently been a top choice among mid-size trucks, yet it appears Tacoma dominance may be in jeopardy. Before you decide to purchase a Tacoma, consider viewing this video. We frequently ponder the quality of the latest generation of the 2024 Toyota Tacoma. However, the real question we ought to be asking is: Can we rely on the Toyota Tacoma 2024? I personally believe that the pricing is the number one reason, especially if you want a mid-range or upper trim Tacoma. How many people do you think can afford a $1400+ monthly payment?
I do not also like the lack of rear A/C vents and how cramped the second row is. Other than that, Toyota Tacoma is a much, much better truck than the previous generation.
With this high prices, no one will be able to sell vehicles as they used to. While Toyota has a good customer base that can justify the higher price, but this is up to a point, I think Toyota has crossed that line.
I am a Toyota fan, but I would not buy a Tacoma if it was not at least 10k off MSRP for the mid-trim like the TRD-Off road with the premium package, and at least 15k off for the TRD Pro and the other top trim.

Don't forget the delivery delays. They were several months late due to EPA certification issues.
I was seriously looking at ordering a TRD Off Road. However, using the Web Site build & price app, I couldn't keep it under $50K. If I wanted a bit more it was getting kinda pricey. Various attempts ended up around $53K. Even w/ the pricing craziness lately, buying a moderately configured midsized truck shouldn't water your eyes that badly.
The Turbo engine was kind of of a negative. I was driving a 2021 Ranger at the time and I just never learned to love that engine. It was a turd if you caught it off boost. I can't imagine that Toyota would be able to execute it that much better. I hated the indecisive 10 speed as well, but that's another story.
So, I ended up buying a 2024 Frontier PRO4x. It's not without it's own issues. My biggest annoyance was the premium package. I had to skip it it because the sunroof steals too much headroom, I'm 6'3". It doesn't have all the fancy off-road gadgetry. Other than that, it's great. especially the nice torquey (non-turbo) V6. FWIW, the mileage is better than I expected - better than the Ranger. Oh, and the price was thousands less than the Toyota. Sure, it's not quite as sophisticated or tech laden, but it's more than sufficient. I'm happy with the choice I made.
What's more is that I'm seeing a lot more new (22+) Frontiers running locally than I used to. They were really uncommon before. I think that Toyota's misstep/loss has become Nissan's gain.

I owned a 2007 Tacoma 4x4. What a wonderful truck and it could haul my 6000 lb travel trailer without breaking a sweat. I curse the fool who totaled me out. Also bought a 2008 Tundra 4x4 because I needed its 11000+ towing capacity. That Tundra has been flawless except for needing to replace the serpentine belt tensioner. I’m 78 and expect the Tundra to outlive me and become a family heirloom. Had a current gen Tacoma as a rental a few years back and it was disappointing and would not buy. Been following the rocky history of the V6 Tundra and sketchy omens about the next gen Tacomas and 4Runner and would not buy any of them. Have had the itch for a few years for the 5th gen 4Runner and bought one before end of availability. Love it. I now consider myself a future non-buyer of Toyota trucks. Also hate any brand vehicle with bolt on tablet displays. Thus ends my rant.

I looked forward to the Tacomas redesign. I was actively shopping for a new Vehicle. I currently drive a Hybrid SUV, which is fine, but I miss my truck and it's greater ability to haul things home and tow more.
The first problem is PRICE ! Are they Nuts ! I'm older now and like a nicer interior . So I looked at the Limited trim Tacoma. That whopping almost 11 K Price increase over the previous year is mind blowing. And for me, a deal killer all in it's own.
Second, I won't go back to a Non-Hybrid vehicle. I love getting 37 MPG in my Mid Size SUV. So when the new Tacoma came out with a Hybrid powertrain, I thought , Great ! That's what I wanted. Then I found out Toyota Engineers used the I Force Max engine for POWER and TORQUE, not Fuel Economy like a Hybrid is for. What a Bone Headed Move ! The Hybrid only gets ONE MPG better than the non Hybrid Tacoma. Really ? I mean REALLY ? ONE ?
This is a Mid Size Truck. It's not meant to be a beast. The facts that people buy this truck to do exactly what I want it for, hauling stuff home on the weekends, and light towing, and just having a Man Vehicle ( Truck ) and not really "offroading" all day every day has gone over Toyotas heads. 98% of the time this will be used for going to work. We need better Economy.
I have nothing against a 4 Cyl engine. In fact most Vehicles are totally overpowered today, and that causes problems more than anything. But if Toyota can't build a 4 Cyl engine that gets better Fuel Economy, Like over 30 MPG, and especially the Hybrid, what good is it ? The Toyota Highlander can get 36 MPG and the two vehicles are basically the Same Size.
That's my take on it anyway. To Much Money. And a redesign that isn't what the Public at large really need. Sure there will be some fanboys that get them anyway. But I just won't pay that much for a midsize truck that really isn't good at anything it's supposed to be good at...

Mainly travel into the Smokey & Blue Ridge Mtn. areas from our Tampa home. We set-up base camp then off-road & hike in nearby areas. No problems & EZ pull. Also, really love my Manual Trans in the Taco.

Did Toyota hire ex-Ford engineers and designers? Maybe. I was ready to buy a new one, then 2024 model came out and I started looking at used. I'm not using it for a business, contrary to what CA DMV insists in order to charge commercial registration. No, I want an inexpensive VERY simple small truck that NEVER brakes down and can handle some simple homeowner tasks for carrying stuff around without mucking up my SUV's. It should last a VERY long time, especially if I'm paying mortgage prices for it. That isn't going to happen with a turbo engine and all kinds of electronic and plastic bling. Every single feature represents one more thing that is potentially going to break and cost a fortune to fix. Toyota used to follow the KISS principal. I think they've become Americanized with Ford and GMC engineers.

  • @nephilymbass1
    @nephilymbass1 Před 24 dny

Way too expensive for a small truck. Body design is terrible, go look at the side profile of the new Tacoma in person. The area in front of the rear wheels looks terrible, it looks dented to shit because of the bodywork design. And then there’s wheels and tires. Toyota did like most brands do and put smooth riding tires on them so people experience a smooth test drive. But anyone who would buy one of these trucks is also going to want to at minimum replace the tires with more off-road bias tires. If not change the wheels also. The 4x4 models start at $45k at my local dealer and with these wheels and tires they look like cheap fleet work trucks.
I’ll keep my Highlander and Camry and continue renting trucks from Home Depot when I occasionally need one.

Try and drive a Nissan. You may not go back. Toyota has the same problem as American SUVs. Own the market, make changes no one asked for, charge more for it to go “upmarket”. Then watch the sales go down. Are they aware interest rates make car buying a challenge right now? It’s an unforced error.
