- As drummers, our end goal is playing and making music with other musicians… So how do we break away from being “just the drummer”?
In this lesson, Dali Mraz will teach you how to approach songs from a more melodic perspective rather than a percussive one. This includes being more sensitive to the other instruments, learning when to add embellishments without taking away from the main melody, and other tips to help you be more hands-on in the writing process.

"so, whats your drumeo lesson about?"
"learn piano"
I love it
PHENOMENAL DRUMMER !!!♥ We were @ thomas lang boot camp in austria - i guess he was 16 and came from another planet.😉 (played MPOs, etc.) He is an inspiration & motivation for every human! - especially drummers!🙂
I think the main thing this guy does is gets away from the simple grooves everyone uses. That's the thing that makes him different. He doesn't over kill anything. This is how he wrote it. This is how it is.
Dali Mraz is a pioneer. Can't wait for the album!
He uses great fills ! wow ! so many cool !
AMAZING drummer!! Great new discovery for me!
I never click on something so fast, I was waiting for this lesson!! Thanks So much guys!!

Such an amazing guy, I'm glad I found him through Drumeo.
Awesome lesson! Great compositions and very inspirational.
Absolutely amazing!👍👍👍
Proud of him! He's from my country! :D Anyway, thanks Drumeo and Dali for great video!
This dude is super cool. Great attitude and sense of humor.
I've been following this guy for quite some time so I was waiting for this! I gotta buy that CD, that's some elevated music right there.
Absolute genius man 😍😍😍
Wow, this guy is something else, insane, very unique talent! :D blown away
Enjoyed your splendid music, superb drumming!!
I love the groove n feel maan... !!
This guy is amazing! Whoaaaaa
I see he uses a Mangini Snare too, hehe. I use mine as my main instead of being a side snare, produces very tasty over tones! Great lesson too! Such a young, talented musician!
Amazing drummer !
Didn’t know Carlos Condit grew his hair out and could play drums so good.
Who you got tn Joanna or Rose? haha
there is a bit of minnemann in that I think
holy shit, this guy is amazing, "Poland Madness" blew me away
Bravo !!!

Omg, this guy is so awesome hahaha
Get Marco Minnemann on here
This guy did all the drugs in the market before shooting that lesson
I WAS super hyper active. Let that sink in for a minute.

He's not that bad behind drum kit either !!! o_0
great! please repair the subtitles' delay .!
Wow...!
Can someone please recommend me some bands that make music similar to the last song Dali played during this lesson? Thank you, in advance!
That opening solo... Something... From the Planet Gong...
Where can I find his music?? I’ve been looking everywhere for “Poland Madness”
Check Itunes- Level25!:)
How do you do an amazed emoji? :-o Awesome!!
ufff Super.
I got it I got it! just have fun! lulz hahaha!!!
“DALI” lmao Jared’s hilarious
Maybe you can learn with Uli Kusch ex. Helloween & Masterplan
What incredible speed, but with 5 bells, why not just get a tonal set of cortales? Just seems like the next step
What happened to Jared Falk, is he still a drum instructor at drumeo
Of course. He found Drumeo.
@@drumtheater2112 You mean founded, right? I found Drumeo. Just here, on CZcams...
Groove at 0:50 😩
👏👏👏👏👏
He's Absolutely bonkers, but a fantastic musician and worthwhile lesson; extracted a lot from this. Good look Drumeo.
zaebok!
All you young Cats , This guy is an amazing example of Frank Zappa style drumming ,
Terry bozzio was doing this 30 years ago... Its nothing new but Amazing Yes....
I was about to say that. It reminded me so much of when I watched the Baby Snakes DVD for the first time. Granted, this was in the early 2000s. I'm a kiddo, too. :D
Even young cats can know their stuff 😎 I too enjoy some Zappa. Bozzio of course as well. Same with Wackerman. Born in ‘02 lol
👍
Great drummer but it was really hard to understand him at times.
Jared!!!! Thank you for not being a fruitboy and shaking it all over the drum mics
Cris Coleman
Please, bring someone to do a lesson "How to be a poser, not just a drummer"
Bring Chris Coleman to Drumeo!!!!!
wtf y is he so good?
you serious? This a capitalist nation... Shiny object is put on top of pedestal, the sheep come running to be the next one to have the shiny object... Why do pro basketball players who do nothing but play basketball play so well? Why do the competitors at the olympics do what they do so well? The answer is because they mostly don't do anything else. Mystery solved.
thanks for the info bud
anytime bud
Please call mark guiliana for a lesson
:o
"32 notes to mraz" 😂
He's tiring to comprehend.
The next-generation Gavin Harrison
Finally Lars got skill
We're all just drummers. These drummers are pretentious, it's just fucking drumming. Banging on shit. I've been having an existential drum crisis. Don't mind me.
Ear fatiguing.
that first song would be so much better with just simple beat. overdoing is a bad thing
Rudal (ignores title of song) I enjoyed it a lot. Of course everyone has their opinions.
Wrong! Just because you don't get the song doesn't mean you're right when applying the most tired dogma of all in art which is the "less is more" trumps everything ideal. NO, THAT'S NOT THE IDEA OF THIS SONG! Go listen to some other song or write your own. What's the point of pointing out what this song is not? There is a stop button if you don't want to listen, right?
some music requires simple grooves, others requires complex/busy grooves, it all depends on what elevates the music itself
I thought the title is a bit of a give away
My thoughts exactly. I found it to be overkill from start to finish. Funny thing is that in the middle of the video he actually says not to overdo things and yet he does the exact opposite. Musically there was nothing interesting about anything he played. He has the technique, now he needs to learn how to apply it and actually make music.
yeah but people who like to listen to music and not just drum solos dont want to hear a bunch of annoying bells and splashes and ghost notes. not saying it is bad to have that skill, but there is no context besides a drum solo where you would need this.
ARDNASSAC LOTSIRB People that want to listen to music want to listen to music with bells and splashes if it calls for it
The music was amazing with those annoying bells and splashes. Loved all of it.
true, just saying simple usually sounds better, but if it calls for it, who am i to say it's annoying, ding dong daniel
Nicky Byloo not saying this wasn't amazing, this message was directed to people who want to apply this to their own music
Cassandra - it is more than just music to Dali, it's about personal expression. Every note he plays is calculated, done with purpose, and tasteful. If people don't like it (you), then don't listen to it. Drums are voices. Cymbals are voices. He creates a choir with his compositions just on drums alone to compliment what is happening with the other instrumentation. Perhaps, instead of being narrow-minded about "context" and your subjective interpretation of his reason for playing, you could listen with open ears and an open mind. His playing is exquisite and I can't wait to see where this young man goes in his professional career.
Am I the only one who found this guy's playing just very annoying to listen to? That constant stream of sixteenth and thirty-second notes gets boring after awhile...
He's obviously gifted and really good. But I didn't really enjoy this lesson... Too fancy for me. Gonna go back and listen to the Bernard Purdie/Dennis Chambers/Benny Greb lessons
This lesson should be named "How to write songs that only some drummers would listen to". His songs are actually the least listenable from all Drumeo lessons.
:D
