While I Generally HATE to be serious, I GOTTA agree with Arrato, Lysy2 ( my keypad doesn't have the squiggly "L") and Marek P here. IF I could vote for you in a Polish ambassadorial election, I'd DEFINITELY do it!! Personally, I can't think of a better person to be the liaison between the two top- tier countries🌍,especially since you're from a VERY patriotic and independent state, Texas!! Perhaps you could conflate the two cultures and create Some " DON'T MESS WITH POLAND " 👕T-shirts !! While I've always been proud of my Polish ancestry, YOUR channel has taken It To a new level and now Poland Has really gotten under my skin (in a GOOD way- it's a tricky idiom). Jean Grice Well, we (Poles) are not SO bad as some think. Some of our traditions are strange but only ours. I mean, despite this mass emigration in the world and cultural confusion everywhere Polish people still care for traditions passed down through generations. 😊

White chocolate lamb? Never heard about this and I'm Polish. White sugar lamb 100% sugar. We use them to decorate Easter basket and nobody eat them after Easter.
Actually, in my family we had both sugar lambs and white chocollate lams. Maybe a couple of times we ate them, but usually they stay intact.

Chocolate easter lamb? No way! Traditional is made of sugar or butter.
Or baked cake in that form (babka). The most common though is sugar lamb. My mother-in-law had the form making butter lambs, it is best to make one at home, as the butter will remain fresh

A little explanation about cleaning your house and windows at this time of the year. Even though these days people go over the top with it( hence memes') it origins from a tradition of sweeping out the last bits of winter from your household so you can welcome Spring and nicer warmer days 😉

We don't use white chocolate lambs. They are not really popular. The easter basket lambs used most often are made of sugar or butter.
Btw you can buy good white chocolate lambs from good brands but they are not popular and hard to find. And for obvious reasons I don't recommend the butter ones on a hot sunny day.

These scratched eggs are called kroszonki, don't know if they have English name. It's very traditional type of decorative egg in Poland, and it's so popular that in some cities, especially in those in Silesia county, you can find some contests for best and most impressive one. 😊 Happy Easter 😊

This is my first Easter in Poland, and I spent it with my Polish friends as the family invited me and didn’t want me to be alone. These people…every day I am beyond happy that I’ve met them.
As a dude from Louisiana, and first-hand witnessing the contrast between here, the amazing, beautiful Polish people vs what the US president stated…I know what this dude means by “why go back for Easter? Maybe thanksgiving or Christmas…”

Polish easter and other holidays, like christmas, are more about getting together with your family than they are religious, because even in not really religious families like my own it's a tradition to visit your family and just spend some time together during that time. The primary reason might be that nearly everyone has a day-off around those times ;p But even though I'm an atheist myself easter and christmas are kinda special time for me.

Interesting, never heard of the white chocolate lamb. Here in the US we have the butter lamb. You have to have that for Easter. We also enjoy eating kielbasa and beet horseradish along with ham. It's neat to see how they do Easter in Poland.

Everyone is talking about this "traditional sugar lamb" but for me that's unusual! In my family we always make a lamb from biszkopt (sponge cake?). And after it's got dry, we mix it with jelly - this is our strange dessert called legumina 😁

I remember when I was kid we didn't had white chocolate lamb. Instead the lamb was made from sugar and surprisingly it wasn't that sweet as you would expect. It was dry in touch but when you bitten it was kind wet with little bit lemon taste. And this was everywhere and never saw chocolate one. I think in the last three decades things get changed but I wonder if the sugar one still exist.
If you look carefully there is a sugar lamb just in front of the chocolate one😊. Still in existence

Thank Lamb you tried is basically the whole Mendeleev table. Usually Easter Lambs are made from sugar or, if one has some artistic talent, it can be carved from butter. As far as eggs, you forgot to mention at least two eggs which are peeled. Eggs represent a new life being reborn every spring. There, of course is also bread and sausage, babka, horseradish, and salt and pepper. But one can't forget small bottle of wine.( Holly Communion, bread and wine ).
Palms are made of all kinds of wheats because Poland was and still is a farm country. Those palms are blessed on Palm Sunday to ensure good harvest. Baskets are blessed on Holly Saturday to ensure that one will have abundance of food all year.
Just found your channel, like it lots. As a polish native, who spent 37 years in the States, I truly appreciate your approach thord Poland. It is a beautiful country with great history, food and costumes. And yes, polish language is difficult, but they say, that if you learn polish, you can learn any language in the world.

We usually use sugar lambs not white chocolate lambs, haven't heard of it. Also as a defender of white chocolate: white chocolate isn't regular chocolate as it has no cocoa in it as a rule, though it does have cocoa fat, hence why it's still called chocolate
The lamb is supposed to be made from fresh butter. We would press 2 peppercorns for the Lamb's eyes.

My Easter traditions are a little bit different. I don't buy that cheap white lamb for once. And I tend to celebrate all of the Triduum Sacrum - three days of liturgy from the last supper till the Resurrection - but I'm a little weird 😁

Did you know we share holy egg once wishing well for family and friends? Did you know Sunday breakfast is the most important event of Easter celebration? And "mazurek" is very traditional Easter cake.

That lamb originally was made from sugar and is related to Christianity. I'm not sure you made that connection in your vlog.
Also eggs were originally decorated in three different ways.
First, by dipping an egg in colored water and then adding other colors. Second, by dipping in colored water and then using some sharp tool to scribe design. Third, by applying wax on top of the egg in shape of decoration then dipping in colored water and then removing wax.

You forgot about "Zajączek" :) In Wielkopolska we have lambs made of butter. I honestly don't know if you can see it in other regions. I guess you can, but i'm not sure :P

You can get sugar lamb and bread like. I remember we had one made of pastry for years, it was all dried out and rock hard, but did a good decoration for the basket 😁😂

It's NOT a Polish tradition, never was! Maybe it's coming NOW from the west...I haven't come across it...🤔 yet.
What we do have , what I've been doing all my life and was a highlight for me as a kid was SZUKANIE ZAJACA / wild hare hunt. In Poland WILD EASTER HARE brings presents for kids. After the most important meal of the day - breakfast, children are looking for a basket full of little gifts hidden somewhere. Usually in the garden (if weather allows it).
Best fun ever. I remember finding my basket high up in the tree, under a bush, behind a shed etc
Never heard of the egg hunt though. Learned of this tradition from my English course for the first time. When I was 20 something ...
Also - white choc lamb - a very very recent thing. Again, I , personally, haven't come across it. Just because it's in foreign supermarkets doesn't make it a Polish tradition . I know of BUTTER lamb. Always and only. Heard of white sugar lamb in other regions. White choc monstrosity? Never.
And the last but not least - please, don't ignore the religious side. No other celebration is more religious, Catholic through and through, than EASTER. I hate it when the modern world is hijacking our millennia old traditions and turn them into secular pulp ... 😞
Easter means a VERY special church services, and our churches are full. At least for Easter. Still
I love the Easter Triduum( Holy Triduum, or Paschal Triduum), it is beautiful and deeply spiritual, the core of the most beautiful Catholic faith
The white chocolte lamb is a new but for sure a Polish tradition, you do not find them in any other country.
Chocolate lamb? Whoa, that's my first time hearing it. Well, I only eat sweets I eat myself anyway, so I don't even go near the shelves where I might find it, I guess. But as far as I can remember the decorative lamb was always made of a) bread or b) butter or c) sugar or d) marzipan.
I love polish eggs. I have 3 so far (A egg resembling peacock feathers, a green pattern egg, and a blue tree egg with a single blue flower). I get about 2 a year.
Of course dont forget about Barszcz Biały with Chrzan ha ha :D
Babka piaskowa, drożdżowa i mazurek are a must.
In US Easter is far less celebrated than in Poland, I remember my first Easter in US and it kinda' came and went without much fanfare... In Poland they are equally celebrated...and did I also mention that both Christmass and Easter are celebrated for TWO days...? :)
To be honest I've never experienced this much folklore at once during my time back in Poland. What was always observed and required in my home was the Easter basket and the Sunday morning mass, followed by family breakfast.
we don`t do egg hunt, but we have something like nest in the garden and kids have to hunting for it. People put there sweets and small gifts

Jak w przypadku bożego narodzenia, wielkanoc jest również przekształconym na chrześcijaństwo dawnym, słowiańskim świętem, na terenach Polski nazywało się ono Jare Gody i odbywało się w podobnym czasie co wielkanoc. Pisanki, święconki w koszyku, lany poniedziałek, zające i wiele innych tradycji są właśnie z czasów naszych słowiańskich przodków sprzed chrześcijaństwa. Również znaczenie święta jest takie samo, śmierć i zmartwychwstanie. Pod koniec zimy lub na początku wiosny dawni słowianie palili kukły przedstawiające słowiańską boginię Marzannę, boginię zimy i śmierci, to miało sprawić, że zima się skończy. Następnie te kukły topiono, woda była symbolem życia, odrodzenia, wierzono, że Marzanna odradza się w postaci Dziewanny, bogini wiosny, płodności i łowów (bądź też Dziewanna była siostrą Marzanny, dziś nie wiadomo dokładnie, ponieważ podczas chrystianizacji starano się zniszczyć wszystko co związane ze słowiańską mitologią, w dzisiejszej wiedzy niestety są pewne braki). W tym czasie również jeden z najważniejszych słowoańskich bogów, Perun, pokazywał się w swojej młodzieńczej wersji jako Jaryło. Również kalendarz dawnych Słowian był inny, nowy rok zaczynał się wraz z nadejściem wiosny, więc podczas Jarych Godów stary rok się kończył, a nowy zaczynał.

I just wanted to comment on the whites chocolate lamb. This is something new to me ( I grew up in Poland in the 80’s and lived there until 2001). What we always had was a sugar lamb not white chocolate one. The sugar one was tasty and sugary and you could melt it and use it in your bakings. There were also sugar roosters and bunnies. I wish I could post a picture for you! White chocolate ones are something new that I have not seen before. (No wonder why they taste awful). Lidia

As for the white chocolate lamb it isn't that popular in Poland. In the south it is actually a rare find. Most popular lambs are made of sugar dough and are as unedible as the palm oil atrocity you were unlucky to try ;) A totally oldschool tradition (at least in Silesia, I can't speak for other parts of Poland) is to bake a cake-lamb (sometimes we put frosting or powdered sugar on top), that the whole familly shares on easter sunday.
I told my 9 years old sister that in America they doesnt heard about things like chocolate lamb, palms or even śmingus dyngus- she was shocked and asked: 'so what they have there?'
Actually, it all depends on what area of the USA you're talking about. In areas with a LARGE Polish-American population - like Chicago , Cleveland, Ohio and Buffalo, NY - you'd definitely find some or all of the Polish traditions observed, including Dyngus Day. If you Google Buffalo Dyngus Day you'll even see T-shirts👕 to commemorate the day.
PS Just DON'T forget to include the "Day" AFTER "Buffalo Dyngus"🐃 OR you might END up on a completely different website!!😀

They use to have baraneck made of special sugar- those were good
And there is also another custom: at night (Sunday/Monday) we have "psotna noc" (prank night) when young boys go out and paint single girls' windows with whitewash (or another kind of "paint") and also make a mess in their gardens. When a girl gets her windows painted it means she is attractive and has admirers :D It's flattering and annoying at the same time because girls have to clean up this mess alone.
