Very odd oil and filter change, going by the oil colour and filter condition being replaced, had the bike actually been run since the last filter change in 2021? Or was in done merely for the vlog and content?
1,000 miles mate...
Hope you take this one for a rip when your done....looks like a really fun bike, and all your hard work has sure turned out a great result!! My old Suzuki had a drain in the tubular frame, then a screen in the frame where it transitioned to hose, and then the filter.....really makes me appreciate the new bike with a standard sump and spin on filter!! Cheers D&P!
Thanks Allen👍, i'd love to take it our for blast, right now the weather is nasty.. lots of salt and rain.. and where we live is farm fields all around so the roads get covered in slurry, then the tractors make it worse... so it'll have to wait for a few weeks until it dried up a little...wouldn't want to take this pristine bike out and brig it back looking like a bog donkey..! Have a great week sir, and thank you as always for your support.. D&Px
Looks more like atf Del. I made the mistake of putting regular Dextron 11 in my car and it slipped like crazy and that was recommended by my main dealer, so much for knowledge of a twenty year old car.
Got the oem stuff in now and after a couple of flushes it's good to go.
Wow I didn't know big bikes used that type of filter as the spin-on variety are so prevalent. Reminded me of an old 70s bike I had with the same type of filter arrangement plus a centrifugal oil filter on the end of the crankshaft.
Nice work Del and Penny all the best and keep safe x
Same colour maybe, but very different to atf, really thick in this cold weather and smells different too. Same filter style is used on the Goldwing, and got a couple of videos on the big black monster coming next week too.! Have a good and peaceful weekend my friend.. D&Pxx
Very nice video, Del! I'm surprised you didn't use Hylomar on the oil drain plug. Is there any reason for it? I started doing it on all my bikes because of you :)
On pretty much all the other bikes i change oil on, usually Harleys, they have a rubber O ring and a fine thread.. this is a huge wide drain plug, brand new copper washer, there's just no need mate, that'll seal first time every time without any help. !
So good to see an engineer using a torque wrench correctly. I cringe when I see some videos involving torque wrenches and they reach the torque break and then repeat it up to 3 times, `just to make sure` AAArrrggghhh
Calm, soothing and satisfying as always.
Great as always, but auugh! major cabin fever wanting to be out on my bike, hee hee. Snow is almost gone and once in awhile it's out of the minus temps (Canada) so, soon I hope! Your vids are a comfort to see in the dark and cold for sure, lol Cheers :D
Thanks mate, and yeah i can sympathise for sure, i hate even a week without getting out for a blast, luckily we don;t get extremes of weather, just lots of rain and filthy roads.
👍👍
Hey my terra 650 after following the manual step by step procedure to changing the oil , the dipstick still gives a very low reading??
Pretty Kwel but never seen oil can spout pops out like that, that’s pretty handy.. I have to check nearby stores for motorcycles. I use adapter to pour in. Love the torque tool.
Yes that's not very common for sure, usually you only get a pull-out spout on transmission and gear oil bottles ! Thanks for your support as always Sir..
Interesting. Honestly never knew that manufacturers did such things so definitely was neat to see. Congrats as you start the final leg of the journey and as you start planning the next one!
Thank you so much mate, it has been a great project and im really looking forward to getting it all finished and taking a stand back look. and of course thank you for your kind support that has helped make it happen.. have a great weekend and keep safe.
Quirky indeed - well, there's one frame that won't rust from the inside! Great video, team DBG. Thanks for all you do - I look forward to every one. Take care and be well.
Thanks buddy. i love these quirky designs, breaks up the routine aye.. Thank you for your kind words of support too mate.
@@petewain61 It sure is Pete, love Motorcycle Trivia.!
Surgical precision buddy.
And it's good that you got 2 plugs for your single . When I did my transalp the first time they handed over 4 spark plugs , I said " it's a v twin? " my mate in the honda shop said " I know but it's got 2 plugs per cylinder !" ...
Well burger me !
Peace and love to you both . 👍🏻☮❤
Yes indeed brother.. twin plug heads provide a much better flame front across the piston, better fuel economy and naturally, a few more ponies too.! Have a great weekend and keep everyone safe aye.. D&Pxx
why so many videos on just one bike.. It get a bit boring :).. Otherwise great content !
Strangely, this is the shortest project ive ever done..!!!!!!!!!!!
Great idea marking the oil filter Del and a new copper washer. Every year I end up buying a new drain plug and cooper washer for the car as the local parts store don't stock just the washer. It annoys the hell out of me. Meticulous as always and a pleasure to watch. Like the flexible funnel you were using, ideal in a tight spot. Seen something similar recently called the udder which you place around the oil filter if facing down and untwist the filter using the silicone udder and it's sealed, catching any oil escaping over the top keeping your hands nice and clean. Simple and effective. Keep up the good work loved every minute of this series. The camera work and sound quality are truly excellent. 👋🏻😊🇸🇪🇬🇧
Thank you so much Paul, it has been a great fun project and I'm really looking forward to taking a stand back look at it. Have a great weekend and keep safe mate..
What is the number for the oil filter?
Nice one mate,
I have the BMW version of this engine(rotax) which calls for 15w-50 oil. May try your recommendation as I cant get the 15w here in Asia so easily.
Greetings Del. If that was a magnet inserted into the drain plug, I like it. I almost expected one in the oil filter cover too. Good looking bike. Stay well sir.
Hey Joe, great to hear from you Sir, and thank you for the kind words of support.. yes it was a tiny magnet and did it's job because there was some fine metal dust collected on there. better then than under the main bearings right ? almost finished now and ready for the next project soon. Hope life is good for you over in TX, take care and keep safe. Del.
Awesome video!, how interesting only 2L of oil, and that extra plug there,
Aha did I hear the new bike is already there, I was searching for clues but couldn’t spot any haha,
You must take us for a ride along on that beast Gold Wing with you both one day, your work is always appreciated, smile both of you and I hope you still laugh when filming these videos like you used to when fitting heated grips to Penny’s golden Bonneville, peace and love to you both,
Regards Luke, same Luke who emailed you on 27/07/2020. Much love to both of you! ❤️
Hello again Luke, how nice to hear from you again, and yes of course we remember your email and the conversations we had.. Thank you so much for your wonderful support. Yes also, we have great fun making the videos still, it's quality time together for us and we truly enjoy what we do. Thank you again for getting in touch, take care, have a wonderful weekend..and stay in touch. D&Pxx
I hope the next project bike is a Harley!
Hi Harold.. i couldn't possibly comment at this point.. but i think you'll approve for sure.
All the 2’s 👍🏻 back to the old school with the in housing filter.
Exactly mate classic old style filter, still works just as well aye.
I thought it was weird as hell what you were doing there, glad you said it was quirky 🤣 never seen anything like that before! Granted my motorcycle experience is pretty limited lol
There are stranger bikes than this out there mate.
@@Moonfleet41 I can imagine 🤣
This excellent makeover has helped my winter go by. Really appreciate your positive, relaxed approach coupled with your technical giftedness. Looking forward to 1. completion of this thumper project; 2. SPRING!
Thank you Guy, I'm looking forward to both of those things too!... have a great weekend Sir.
Another great video brother , so satisfying when maintenance is done properly! keep up the great work brother ! bike is looking awesome 👏!!!! stay safe guys cheers from new york 🍺🍺🍺
Thank you so much for your kind and generous words brother, it means a lot for us both.. take care and keep safe over there, and as always.. stay in touch.. D&Pxx
Looking so nice, Del! Such an awesome bike; you've really done well on this one. I am jealous of the Wiha T-handle torque driver! Those are impossible to find locally on my side of the pond, and quite expensive to get internationally. It's a tool on my list. :)
Thanks so much Don! 👍 yes sadly i hear it's pretty hard ot get these German tools imported to your side of the pond, it's just become so expensive over the last couple of years to get anything from Europe..! Thank you for your kind support as always.
Starts immediately, runs nicely. Another job on the way to completion, Del. And thanks for this useful video, well explained. I've never had a bike with oil in the frame. A bit more to think of when changing oil.
Have a great weekend with no storms, Günter from Nürnberg/Germany
Glad you enjoyed it Günter, simple little bike with a few interesting quirks, lots of fun to work on and a pleasure to have made a project form it.. Not long now, two left at best, then time for a new adventure.
@@Moonfleet41 Looking forward to your next adventure. It's really fun watching you work and learn a thing or two. Have a great weekend, Günter
Windy outside. Would that be a slight understatement?
Ha ha erm, yeah, slightly, had to go collect out garden furniture from the nest street..!
Why is the oil red?
It's just colour. Motul 300v is green.
Can't believe how pristine the bike's looking. Great work
Thanks so much Mark. 👍
5 4 3 2 1 ., Husky are go ! !!!
I've never seen red motor oil here in the united states
Quiet common in Europe Stephen, the castrol and motul full synthetic are red, the motul 300v is green
Nice video Del & Penny. One more job off the list mate, it's all just about coming to an end for this one. Penny and you have a great weekend and take care. Cheers
Yes mate, almost there now.. a difficult time transitioning between projects, got maybe 2 videos left on this now, and one of those will be the finale as it moves to the next bike..! have a great weekend and thanks as always for your constant support.
Fantastic result del thank you for sharing this build 👏
Thank you buddy. Glad you enjoyed it!
Good video as always, one of my favorite YT channels, never miss one. Bike is looking fantastic and like new. There are so many small things i can relate to my BMW, guess they owned Husqvarna then. But the next project, i can´t wait.
Much appreciated Arni, glad you've enjoyed it, and yes BMW owned the brand back on 2013, and this was their last bike before selling out to KTM. Thank you for your kind support my friend.
great work as usual del cant wait for the next project
Thanks Allan. Me neither.
Looking forward to seeing next project this one been fun
Thanks mate. !
you can't have the new project yet because it's still parked in my garage 😂😂😂😂
Well done mate
Looking forward to the test ride and the intro to the new project
Nick Australia
Thanks Nick, good to hear from you mate.. we've been watching your floods over here on the TV, hope you're all safe and it's nowhere near you mate.!
@@Moonfleet41 thanks Del
We live in a beautiful little coastal city called Hervey Bay. Check it out on Google Maps.
This is about 300ks North of Brisbane were the worst of the floods are.
Unfortunately though a lot of the main arterial routes north aren't open and supplies aren't reaching the supermarkets.
I'm sure that everything will return to normal over the next week or so.
I really appreciate your concern and kind thoughts.
You look like your health is improving which is brilliant.
Really looking forward to your next project mate.
All the best to the two of you,
Keep safe and warm.
Nick Australia
@@nicholasbishop3300 Just looked it up on the maps.. Wow what a beautiful place, I'm not envious at all..lol! I have some cousins who live just south of Brisbane in Coomera, and they're pretty flooded there. Also with all the news coverage turned to the crisis in Europe right now, the floods are only getting a short mention now and again, but i can see it's pretty serious for you all, and like you said, the knock on effects of logistical supply can take a while ot get back to normal. Good luck with it all and we hope that like you said, it'll all get back to normal again for you.. Thanks also for your kind words, im feeling fit again now (as much as you ever can0 and keeping the recovery underway.. Takle care and keep in touch mate... D&Pxx
@@Moonfleet41 Cheers Del
I know Coomera quite well my oldest daughter lives on the top of Mount Tamborine.
Yes that area is quite prone to flooding with a river estuaries and low lying land surrounding most of the residential areas.
Once again thanks for your kind words.
Nick Australia
Great idea to put the date on the changed oil filter. Top man 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Great job Del! Looking forward to the final episode.
Thanks Shaun, have a great weekend mate.
Great video Sir , as always.
I would like to finish a project that doesn't really belong to me , it's a bike at work in one of our warehouse Norton Manx . gorgeous bike , hope yourself and Penny are well
Sounds great as a project and im sure you would enjoy the journey. have a great weekend both of you and thank you for your support.
She's a beauty. Are you still replacing the terrible stock shock?
This is a seriously rare bike, and i haven't been able to find a single option better than the Sachs unit it came with unless i have something specially made and i just don't have the budget for that. At least the factory unit is spotless and clean with no issues.
Great video Del. The Husky is being taken care of top to bottom. I can’t wait to see it outside in all its glory.
You and me both mate, not long now!
Intriguing design Huskies; using excess muscle heat to warm their frame's skeletal marrowbones, thereby preventing the early onset of frost in the owner's trossachs. Dogs, Darwin & m/cycle maintenance eh - who'd have thunk it? : )xx
Nice work as always 🤗
Thank you so much 😀
She is looking amazing Dell top job i would be more than happy to ride that
Thanks mate.. really happy with it now. !
Unfortunately I Have to disagree with the whiteboard message Del.
If, or when you reach a stage in your life where you see no meaningful future, then the only thing that occupies your mind when you go to bed, is the terror of waking up in the morning!
I'm So sorry to hear that you feel that way Gary, and indeed for anybody troubled with such darkness, everybody has their demons i guess. For myself, my brush with mortality last summer made me grateful for every new dawn !
Exciting times! Can't wait to see the next adventure!
Me too buddy.. not long now.
Looking great, Del. Such a nice distraction for me to watch your vids when such nonsense is going on in the world! Hope you both are doing ok and get to enjoy your weekend there.
🏍👍🏍
Thank you Gary, difficult times for sure. Have a wonderful weekend too and keep safe. D&Px
