Ultrasonic Cleaners.. Do they actually work ?
Like my Uncle Kenny said... "you gotta know when to hold them and know when to fold them". J/K he's not really my uncle. 😁 I really like the look of the squared off version more. Looks like it's going to be a perfect blend of form and function. And props for showing when things don't work out perfectly unlike the "reality" bike build TV shows . 😆 This is real reality here. Have a great week Del and Penny and many thanks. ❤👍👍
Hi Rick, yeah you got that right, you can kinda tell when it's time to stop thrashing on them and start again... im looking forward to getting it finsihed, (not much, just smoothing it out and trimming it up,) Take care you too and have a great week sir.. D&Px
I remember years ago watching you do with on the bandit 1200, always wanted to try it and now ive got an rgv style race seat to fit my banit project ive got an excuse
What year is that Sportster with the hard mount engine?
It's 2003
Del very nice job and work ethics! First video I have seen from you. I see you’re very particular about how things are done. 😎👍👍 “ I subscribed🔔 “ I like the idea of using the Crain they make some really nice electric crain’s that you can have hanging above your work space but they wouldn’t move around the shop unless they slide on a beam up above. That bike is going to be real nice. I was wondering what type of oil is preferred for treating those bolts? Have a great day 👊😎🍻 from SW Illinois.
Thank you for your kind words of support Alan, im glad you approve, and welcpome aboard. The bike is finished now and on the road, it's a long video series and you could follow it in the playlist if you wanted to.. With oil burning the bolts, you can use pretty much anything, depending on what colour you want the bolts... if you want a steel colour, then clear clean oil, even just vegetable oil.. but if you want them black, then use old engine sump oil.. any oil will do !

Great attempt, shame it didn't work, but second attempt will be good enough, great video Sir
Id rather be riding than spending 2 hours cleaning. No disrespect meant at all, it looks good now.
Nice video as always there Dell! Hopefully all is well, and definitely give a shout to Penny! Bring her back for a cameo appearance.. cheers mate and up the Chels
Thanks mate, Penny's ok, always in the background keeping everything rolling.. but just not on camera these days.. Take care and thank you for your support as always.. !
No such thing as a failed experiment bro', just a whole noo set of fine words to describe them! : )xx
Yeah, good point.
Not for nothing but it's nice to see a screw up. We are human after all ! 👍🏻 The second go around is looking sharp !!! 👍🏻🤠👍🏻🇺🇸
I paused this video at the beginning to just take in that message you provided thanks !
Nice bit of fabrication Del ! You must have the patience of a saint mate 👍
Thanks Paul,👍 there's a result lieing in every attempt, you just have to find it..lol!
With the second attempt are you going to trim the bent section or leave it as deep as it currently is? Just wondering is all =-)
All in the next part mate, trim, nip and tuck, and get it ready for paint..!
Hy.could i clean chain with diesel??
What were the vise grips used for?
To prevent ringing.
I've just bought a 99 gen 1 busa, after wanting one for the last 10/15 years. Never fails to put a smile on my face. Though I've had to do the later tank swap as the previous owner bought it off someone who had it sat 10 years with fuel in, killed the OEM external pump, not sure why Suzuki decided for the first 2 years to fit them instead of in the tank. so anyway, they had an aftermarket external pump that sounded like a Dyson, louder than the engine. So a later tank of the wrong colour and a bagster tank cover has sorted that for now 😅 looking forward to catching up this project, I remember watching you build it all those years ago. Learned the hard way that the fuel tap doesnt turn off too
Half way through I was wondering how that first piece was going to survive. 😊 I can’t say any of this looks easy and way beyond my own abilities, my own thoughts might have been to incorporate something like you’ve done but maybe around the headlights as well? Take care have a great week.
It would be logical to smooth out the gap and incorporate the two, but of course the lights are rigid mounted to the frame and the clocks turn with the headstock, much like the early model Speed Triples and they had two separate pieces in the same way... Thanks for your support as always!
@@Moonfleet41 ah.. yes, forgot 😇

Hi mate 👍😉 What if you put a little to much oil to the tranny? I always measure the oil level on the dipstick when the bike is straight -not on the kickstand . I put like 950 ml in to the gear box.
11 years later and I learnt more from this video than any of the others I found. I tried the plastic pipe method and it worked a treat. Thanks.
Most welcome mate. Glad it helped!
Such a pleasure to watch your videos! Clear, concise with no BS! Thank you Del. Cheers from Ontario, Canada.
Thank you so much for your kind words, Glad to help out.!
i have done the chain conversion on my Iron883 do you have any issues with slapping on the belt guard mount on the swingarm? i’m not running the belt guard on there. Am i better off grinding it off if not in use? Thanks in advance
All chains have a certain amount of 'lash' it's inevitable, and bikes that have belts from factory don't have 'lash room' designed into that area, so yeah, if you have to make a little room for the chain to opperate safely then thats just good practice mate .!
A great how to Del, job well done. Homemade tools are the best as you said ,we all have them for that one job and in the tool box they go for another day. Hope all is well over your side, take care. Cheers PS I am over this bloody rain we are getting LOL
Absolutely mate.. cant imagine the collective money i would have spent on those items if they'd been off the shelf products.. Sunny days over here now too mate, so thanks for that.. don't worry though, our summers are usually the twp weeks between June and July..then it'll be on it's way back..!lol
Them were the days
Yeah, seems like a lifetime ago.
Where can I find those rear sets for my 1980 ironhead?
Hi there.. The set is from SATO Racing in California, if you check out thier website or call them up and ask, they may make a set that fits your Ironhead.. Good luck. !
@@Moonfleet41 thank you!
You are a master of your craft Del! Clear precise instructions with all the minushia of understanding just what's to be expected. Does the centre stand HAVE to go with this exhaust system or are you just trying to shed weight?
Thank you for your kind words im glad you enjoyed the video. I believe, from memory, that this exhaust does foul on the stand on the cross pipe... but if you check the link in the description, it will take you to the TEC website for the pipe and it will make it clear on there..
what brand of seat do you have on the bike
It's a Harley Davidson Badlander seat
Hi del a bit off topic but the next time you do a tyre change and you balance it can you try balancing the wheel at the same time by rotating the tyre on the rim so it's balanced before you inflate it thus not needing many if any weights a friend of mine told me about it so thought you might try it cheers del and penny have a good weekend
In some cases ive found tyres that already need almost no weight as long as you mount the location dot in the right place..(and if a tyre has one, then is MUST be mounted there and nowhere else..! ) also you cannot rotate a tyre on the rim once it's seated, and you cannot balance it if it's not seated properly on the bead, so it would mean continually breaking it off the bead and reseating it over and over again to try balancing it on that basis. not really practical mate. That sounds more like something someone has noodled up as a theory based on zero expreience..!
@Moonfleet41 I understand about the dot and the bead being broken I think the bloke meant don't inflate it but just rotate the tyre til I assume they balance equally but im assuming he has a reference mark to start with but im probably wrong just thought ide share what he told me
Yeah, i get what you were saying mate, but in practice, you absolutley canont move the tyre once it's seated on the bead, inflated or not..and if it's not seated on the outer lip then it won't balance, it'll just wobble about...even is it's uninflated...so maybe in theory there is some logic in the principle, but no way would that work in practice mate.. TBH i just fitted my first ever set of Dynabeads, and both wheels are totally perfect with zero weight added... damned if i know how they work, but they do..lol!
What year is this bike? I want to swap out my 2020 HD Breakout 3.5 gal to a 5 gal gas tank. Any suggestion?
This is a 2020 bike, i used a Lowrider S tank and pump. fits straight on.
Thanks!
You are most welcome, thank you for your kind support.

Ooooh, is a video coming with the FXBB levers?
Levers?
@@Moonfleet41I saw some brake and clutch levers on the counter and got excited that maybe a Street Bob lever modification video is coming. 😅 I see now that those are not HD levers.
@@rebel_ltz Ah i see, no they are some factory Triumph levers i have ready for a friends bike. !

They will certainly make it easier, but not essential.

Del just remind me what was the five gallon tank off.It was made for the street bob.
No tank is made for the softail Street Bob, not this shape anyway... this one was for a Lowrider S or ST !
Quite Chuffed! Proper instruction from gentleman "Bros" like DELBOY are most valuable in gaining confidence. It has gotten to where you can't trust dodgy service garages, especially Dealer$hips, and especially with older bikes.
I come to this page like 4 times a week hoping there’s a new video 😅 a wealth of knowledge here.

Making one tool into another for certain jobs is a great idea presuming you have the tools to make it, eg. not every diy mechanic has pillar drills or welding facilities or even grinding wheels
