    If you’re ever in Los Angeles again, you’re welcome to drive my Mini. With some tasteful, relatively low price mods, you can reliably get the car to 70HP to the wheels. But with some pricy mods, you can get an overdrive 5th gear and 10.5 inch disk brakes.

    • @Petrospect
      @Petrospect Před 5 měsíci +1

      These two videos really make me want one. The only downside with 80s ones is the doudy interior, that's the one thing I'd swap!

    • @SpitfireFortyFour
      @SpitfireFortyFour Před 5 měsíci +2

      @@Petrospect I agree the 80s interior is ugly. But it's also the best in terms of usability which is why I like it.
      It has proper ventilation like the late interior without any serious trim rattle issues like the earlier cars.
      And go and buy one, they're great! Or if you want the driving experience and get hard over '80s exterior styling get an Austin Metro.

    I leaned to drive in one of these in mid-'70s Berks County Pennsylvania. An aunt of mine's husband imported it in the early '60s, and my father said he knew a guy who could repaint it; the bad result of that was the start of a family rift that persists to this day ... but we had it for about six months. You still see a lot of them in continental Europe. The new BMW Minis are actually great cars (my daughter drives one) with a lot of the same look-and-feel. By the way, the Land Rover's basic design ran from 1948-2016, shipping just over two million units; the New Defender is a great truck, but I felt compelled to buy one of the last 2016 models.
