    Having a overdrive button is definitely handy, the old GM land yachts and trucks I'm use too have a mechanical overdrive setup, between neutral and drive. I like that my '94 Nissan Sentra has a button, I turn the overdrive off while hooning the car up and down the mountain back roads of Southwestern Virginia. It really helps going back down hill, the car doesn't coast as much so you don't have to beat on the brakes as much slowing down for tight corners.
    I also had a '85 Dodge D100 with a 727 automatic 3 speed, something was wrong with it and it wouldn't shift gears, had to shift it manually, it was pretty annoying.
    If that thing will fit a Cummin's pump, try finding a heavy duty application 6BT pump, like off a bus. I think they use a 12mm plunger.

    Diesels like this old school clacker respond well to lpg injection/fumigation. Gets the benefit of longer range as well as loads more grunt. Get a second hand tank from the wreckers, add in a boost referenced regulator and away it goes.

  • @slmiano
    @slmiano Před 6 lety

    Al, If you can learn to use your converter lockup around town it will make a big difference with engine breaking. I drive an automatic truck where the converter locks up automatically in second gear and stays locked as long as the truck stays above 20klm/h, and It still has an exhaust break that works great. Just some food for thought... Awesome videos by the way, Keep em comin man.

      Probably a good thing it doesnt have the power to go over 60. The weld would probably brake and the snorkel would just fly off, and fly into a orphanage where it would catch fire, and all the little orphans would hurt themselfes on the broken sharp welds. Best just to listen to the wise old internet instead!

      It might even fall into pieces all together as I hear dubitable shedwelds might be contagious to the original factory ones, too ...

    So you are running an NA pump with a turbo? If there’s no on boost fuel compensator does that not make the turbo mostly pointless? If reducing fuel costs is the goal, the Bosch VE and IDI engine type is a good combination for running cooking oil, particularly in your climate.

    I like that you take the time to explain the technical reasons behind mechanical restrictions i.e. the Bosch fuel pump. Keyboard warriors would say stupid things like "Get a bigger turbo!!!"...umm Unicorn 🦄 farts 💨 in the wind 😀😇🤗 two thumbs up 👍 👍🔥💩❄️

    First i thought "60 mph must be around the limit for towing", then I checked and found out Australia uses kph. It must be a painful experience.

    when they added a turbo to the NA diesel I was wondering if they change the pump to a TD version with an LDA
    Without that there is not enough fuel at boost
