She could make it, but Howie acted like an absolute wreck! She is talented. But, I guess nervousness didn't affect her song.. What affected her performance (a little bit, just a little bit) is how much emotional she was... I can't even imagine her state :( It was a very hard song to sing... But she absolutely nailed it. My friend’s sister took her own life due to cyber bullying. I remember when I went to her funeral I heard her father say a stranger made sure she wasn’t in any pain for the last hour of her life, he stayed by her side the whole time until her time was up. 3 days after she past away my dad’s best friend took his own life in the same exact place due to depression. Everyone should know that nobody is alone and you should never keep your feelings in. Life will always be hard and unfair but things can always get better. ❤️
Remember that even if you only have one friend and your not like that other person that has millions of friends. That one friend you have, once you realise how important that one friend is you won’t have to worry about needing more friends. I’ve lost all my grandparents to cancer. Or because of cancer.
This song still makes me cry. It’s midnight while I’m typing this, and if you know pain like this it kind of hits you in waves. Anyway I couldn’t sleep so I thought “ well, maybe I just need to cry?” So I turn on this song. Thank Madilyn, for letting me cry and not feel guilty about it, or feel like it’s my fault that I went insane and “fell apart every time we touched.” Thank you for being the creative person that you are, I’m sure you’ll make it very far.

I lost 3 of the closest people to me in one year. My grandma, she died from old age, my nan, she died from cancer and my mum. She died from cancer too. All this happened when I was only 7 years old. I have struggled a lot with depression and anger issues over the past few years. I went through a stage of self-harming and I still have some scars. People make fun of me for crying often so I don't have many friends. I used to be quite popular. I suppose going through all of this has made me realize who my true friends are and I am so grateful for everyone that has stuck with me, even though I tend to get carried away sometimes. I try my best to stay strong and not break down in tears whenever someone mentions my mum. I have never minded talking about it but it is still hard. Someone once said that time heals the pain... but that isn't true. It never heals. I guess it's just the more time you have, the easier it is to get distracted. This song made me cry but it's so inspiring. If anyone has actually read all of this then congratulations.

Dear Madilyn, I stumbled upon your channel because of a song you'd crafted with hate comments. It was so funny how you could turn something so dark and littered with hatred into something happy and giddy. Then I decided to click onto your channel and saw this song at the front of it, I gave it a listen and before the song even finished.. I knew I needed this. Your song came to me when I was suffering from anxiety that I still am not sure how to handle, but I'm actively trying to figure out a way. Seeing all the struggles of these women really uplifted me, that these people while maybe damaged can still carry on. It warmed my heart to see all of the symbolism throughout the video and it seemed so peaceful, even though red tends to give me bad emotions. This video will definitely be one I'll add to my list of coping songs, thank you so much for making this. ^^ P.S: I'm going to make some art pieces inspired by this .

My Red Ribbon story:
I'm a survivor child abuse and neglect. I was frequently left in my room with barely any food and listening to fighting at all times. I would beg for food from my parents daily, and would use superglue and tacky glue to fix the broken straps of my dresses. I'd wear long sleeved T shirts over a summer dress in the winters so I could get some kind of warmth. I'm a childhood suicide survivor, my first attempt of three being back in 3rd grade. I had found out about this song many years ago, and I now get to find it again. There are so many battles from others out there, and I have always said that nobody notices until its too late. I wish the best for anyone reading this, and anyone who listens to this music.
This song shows so much more meaning by showing what other people have been through. If you think your life is hard just remember what others have been through. ❤️

I lost my Grandma Sharon last May. She had dementia, and we took care of her for almost a year. She became one of my best friends, and it was very hard to lose her. This is quite long just a warning.
Last year (when I was 11) my mother was diagnosed with terminal cancer. She had survived breast cancer before hand so we all assumed that's how it started. She started have a lot of pain in her back and head so she went to the doctor. He ended up only doing blood tests but nothing came back. 1 month later my mother decided she wanted to see a new doctor. My mother passed out and was sent to hospital immediately. That was when we got the news. The next week I went back to school and told all of my "friends". They all laughed and started to ignore me. This all put me and my father into a state of depression. My mother was given 6 months to live and she is now on her 8th month. She's trying hard to stay alive so she can see her brother but since Coronavirus has shut down most airports it probably won't be possible for her to see him. Sometimes my mother will fall asleep and wake up 5-6 days later. Me and my father are still struggling and the fact I've had to move a lot through this all has put me off track. This song makes me feel so much better knowing that I'm not alone.

Leafy Fay my grandpa got cancer 5 years ago ( blood cancer ) and defeated it 2 years ago then a couple months later he got it again and the nurse that helped him the first time saw him and was like, omg ur still alive! Now 2 years later he still has cancer but is still healty and going strong. I hope ur mother gets trough it and gets better, or at least has more time, stay strong💪

Thank you Madilyn for writing songs that have become anthems in my life. I lost my grandfather to a stroke which I was very close to at a young age. My gramma, with whom I had a very strong relationship, was overcome with anxiety and depression. She cried nonstop, never talked, and gave up on herself and her willingness to keep going. I felt like I lost her too. This song along built me back up and gave me the courage to talk to her, overcome the darkness in my family, and put a stop to it. You have my thanks. Howie is dead wrong. You are a star, and I believe in you with every ounce of my being. Everyone does, and you've already fulfilled everything you need to to become the number one artist.

there are so many quirks that make me love them more and more. I know that if today was the last day i ever got with them, there would be so much i would want to say. I'll miss the way my mom helps me straighten my hair, and all the laughs we have had about her lack of technology knowledge. I'll miss the way dad will randomly text me when i'm at school, calling me princess or when he makes me a cup of tea. I'll miss the fact that they will never see me on my wedding, graduation and life. They will miss so many moments that won't be the same without them. Thats why, whenever i leave for school, go to bed, go anywhere without mom or dad i always tell them i love them, and say that they are the best mom or dad ever, because they are and if something were to happen i don't want my last words to them to be something meaningless. I want them to know that i love them, and that nothing will be the same without them ❤️

Just a few days ago my boyfriend's brother and grandparents were in an apartment fire in Reno. Their grandmother didn't make it. His brother, Kenny, saved 11 lives but he's in the hospital rn for 2nd and 3rd degree burns and their grandpa (who has a heart condition before this) Is struggling to breathe. The arsonist behind it was a 31 year old man. My bf has been crying on and off and it sucks that I can't be there for him since were long distance. I just want to hug him and make him feel better.

I knew this woman. She was the strongest person I've ever met, she was soon diegnosed with cancer, she kept battling and battling until she couldn't no more. That woman was my mom. 😭
Edit: thank you for all the support, my mum was a single parent (I didn't have a dad) so i was heart broken, but I got passed it, I'm still sad, and I miss her very much, but I always thought positive, if you are going through a hard patch in life, try and think of all the good memories. Trust me, it helps 💕

My grandpa died eleven days after my birthday, he was the only person I loved and cared about. We live in a forest and every day him and I would go fishing and just have fun exploring the forest. He was twenty days in hospital, nobody could see him or talk to him. One part of me died with him, and I will never be the same person.

This song is one of my favorites to listen to but it wasn't until I heard you perform it on AGT that made me come back to watch this video again. In 2021 my Grandma died with lung cancer. We took care of her before she passed away. I watched her go from cane to a wheelchair and to her bed which she could not walk at that time. She cared for everyone even if she couldn't do anything. she wanted to do something. She wanted to make everyone smile and laugh too. LoL! She had a funny humor whatever she goes. She was telling stories about her childhood and her life experience but she's specially love hearing yours. I mean your stories past or present. She was the best person in my life. She really understand what I feel even if I don't say what I feel that day. She always listen to everything I say. you can say that I am a talkative person but shy person sometimes. I love making up stories and going in adventures with her in my storytelling. I can't forget the time I draw her a picture of me sitting next to her bed and her on her bed holding the Bible. In the window in that picture had her favorite tree and a lady neighbor's house she made friends with. Oh so there was a rainbow in that sky I drawn beyond the window in that picture. She cherish my picture, 2 pictures made by her great grandson and one really old picture long long time ago make by my boy cousin who is years older than me on her big mirror in front of her bed. I miss her. I am your only granddaughter in my father side of the family. I will not forget about the fun time I had with her. She is watching out for my in heaven.

A few weeks ago I lost my great-grandmother (my nana-nana) to pancreatic cancer. We were very close and it's been pretty hard. In 2017 my dad became addicted to Crystal meth. I was only 11 at the time. He would constantly break promises, he would introduce my 14 year old sister and I to some very dangerous people, but the most heartbreaking thing, was that he put his family in danger. I remember one time we even had to leave our house for a few nights, because we didn't know if it was going to be burnt down that day.
My dad is now in the middle of his third jail sentence. But even after all the stuff he's put me through, I will never stop loving my dad.

My other grandpa died 20 years before I was born.
I get bullied at school for having a peanut allergy and older parents, everyday I try to write a song about my whole life when it went wrong and I think about how other bullies are so insecure and how they’re probably abused at home, my message to bullies is, I hope your life is better and you don’t have to let your anger out on innocent people. Instead, think about if your parents die or anybody else you love, think about how they are now, they’re in a better place. Your hands aren’t there to be cut, your neck isn’t clothing, don’t hang it, your life isn’t a rush to end. 🖤

I couldn't show any emotion in the middle of dying inside and having my suicidalness suddenly spiral because otherwise I'd be called weak and I'd be "sniveling."
