Dont let the old heads in the comments get you down man. You have kids and a wife as well as a small business. Its a wonder you have time for this project at all. Nothing wrong with taking your time and making sure you got it all right. Youre doing great man god bless.

You need to wrap in plastic and oil everything before storing it

I would make sure the machine shop checked everything over good. It's worth the investment for peace of mind.

Unless theres a hidden surprise found at the machine shop i bet this engine is going to run just fine. People in youtube comments think if you dont build things to the micron there will be catastrophic failure lol

I would definitely let the machine shop check it over. The only thing that really concerns me is the cracks and where the gear wore into the block. Other than that, dont let everyone bashing you get to you. Do your thing man.

Never seen someone machine an engine outside in the back of a Ford Ranger. I bet tolerances are perfect. 🥴

Put WD-40 or something on it so it don't rust again before you take it to Dave

You should put some wd40 on that block so it doesn’t rust again

  • @GabrielCruz-gq7fz
    @GabrielCruz-gq7fz Před měsícem

Not understanding why the surface is a huge issue if it was already decked. The head gasket alone will make up for the “rust”.
I don’t see why you wouldn’t already build the engine. Nothing is wrong with it at all besides that broken oil squirter.
Relying to much on “Dave”. I hope you have a ton of money for something you could’ve built yourself.
It’s about trial and error, Dave was never always perfect and that’s how you learn. So far you’ve done everything right and are on a good path to be able to do it alone.

I can imagine that Dave will want to build you an engine to his standards & have it run in their Sim test machine which checks the engines compression & oil pressure then sell it to you with a warranty because he will want to build the whole engine by himself rather than measure the clearances, check for roundness of the cylinders, check the block for flatness, check the connecting rods & caps as well as the main bearing caps for roundness & possibly Line boring/honing the main bearing caps, crack testing the engine block & also checking the Ra of the cylinders honing then give that back to you.
He will want to do all of that including assembling the engine,he will build you an engine then sell it to you with a warranty because Dave will want to stand by his product that is of good quality to maintain his reputation,he doesn't want to risk checking it then have you build it then if something goes wrong is either held accountable or it just won't make him look too good even if he gets you to sign a legal declaration that he's not responsible for anything that may go wrong,in other words he might want to do the full build or nothing at all.
I know that Richard Crich of Precision Transmissions is that way & refuses to do Carry out builds due to customer installation error which has ruined newly rebuilt transmissions so now he will only rebuild them if he installs the transmissions into their vehicle.
I might measure my own stuff using telescopic gauges, micrometers, dial gauges, plastigauges, etc instead of even taking the engine block to even people such as him, there are also machine shops in my area in Australia will let me do or if I ever needed Darton sleeves fitted into my 5.7 litre Chevrolet LS1 V8 engines cylinders which I think will never happen I could either find a local machine shop to do the work or send it over to a machine shop in Western Australia who does that work to the Chevy LS V8 engines for example.
In other words,I will take full responsibility for my own work !

He doesn't wear safety glasses or steel toe shoes. Some people just have to learn the hard way. IE BIKERS that don't wear leathers.John 3:16

Well, its too late now as you have too much $$ invested toward this cummins repower
    BUT,
What you could have done while you were waiting for all this time is repower,
with ELECTRIC. Buy and EV wreck & steal the powertrain. Too late now tho.
