Kendahl's idea of a ben & jerry's -esque mashed potato line is genius!!!! Also, Josh was in classic Josh form today making mashed potatoes and I loved every second of it.
It actually really reminded me of the Dutch dish stamppot- buttery mashed potatoes mixed with smokey sausage and some kale or cabbage to add veg.

I love a good lumpy mashed potato, the completely smooth pureed kind remind me too much of baby food which I know is a plus for Josh, but I like some texture in my food.

As an extremely picky eater, I’d probably eat infinitely less than I already do if I didn’t like potatoes. They’re like 50% of my diet.
@wildwesley9328 I'm one of those that barely like potatoes, but now that my doctor said I can't have them all I want are French fries and baby red instant mash 😂 (pasta and bread were pretty much my entire diet at one point 😢)
Josh butchering the potatoes reminds me of a friend who currently goes to Cornell for premed, but freshman year of college we had to reteach him basic biology because he was so advanced at that point he forgot basic concepts lol

Like how a chef can be super far into the making the elaborate dishes and can make them with ease. But have trouble making basic dishes. Because it's a whole other end of the spectrum they are no longer familiar with.

I think she's really been nurtured by everyone in a way that she didn't (and probably still doesn't) know that she deeply needed. If I was around all of that positivity, my goodness, I think it would heal me.

Lily has blossomed so much since the beginning. Even though she's always cooked so well, watching her on camera is awesome! I love the Mythical Kitcheneers and how much they infuse humor, knowledge and I'm sure flavor into every episode.
Lily's use of the tami for the mashing is so smart, and it reminds me of a sediment sifter I have used in geology laboratories. I kinda wanna take one home to use for mashed potatoes

Lilly you won't kill the scoby, as long as your hands are clean and you don't put hot water into the jar. Putting it in the fridge slows down the fermentation to almost a stop. It would have to be in the fridge for a while before it would kill it. The scoby babies at the bottom are dead so you can remove them so your brew tastes cleaner. The new scoby forms on top. You can peel old layers off your scoby too. If you continuously brew like me sometime in an ice tea jar made of glass with plastic spout, you should clear sedamat and old scoby often so it isn't clogging it up or making it taste too strong. Good job on your brew!! 😊

should do cooking potatoes on myth munchers... then they can compare about salting water, how to boil potatoes (whole, large chunky cut, small cuts), best thing for mashing potatoes, difference of adding milk or cheese or mayo (according to josh) or not adding any of those things into mash... things along those lines

Wait, has everyone had an instant mashed potatoes era? Because I can relate.
I grew up with my grandma making homemade mashed potatoes for Sunday dinners, and they are one of my top 3 all time favorite comfort foods. I never thought making them could be so complicated until I saw this and all the steps the chefs made 😂. It's like, just drain your potatoes, throw some milk, butter, sour cream, salt and pepper and use a hand mixer to blend. Done. Josh's complete chaos and Lily's descent into a sad childhood story with a segue into a Sporked ad killed me 😂. Kendahl's segment was adorable and we really need her and Emily together on an episode of Fancy Fast Food. I died laughing when Jordan found out their girlfriend was the imposter and immediately went back to eating those potatoes. This was such a great episode 😂😂😂

I’ve watched both the BCC Club and Mythical Kitchen for awhile. I had no idea Jordan is Kendahl’s partner 🙈 Roasting Kendahl’s potatoes without realizing it was hilarious. The horror I imagined on everyone’s faces when Josh poured the mashed potatoes into the food processor 😂
Chef Lily was the only one who confidently executed this simple recipe. You go, Lily!

As someone who learned to cook from old southern ladies, if your mashed potatoes are too liquidy, in a pinch, you can cook them down on low ish heat for a while and they’ll thicken up. But honestly just don’t use milk. Lots of butter and little sour cream/ mayo is the way to go.
You have to be secure in your relationship to risk it like this. Plus it's just great seeing Jordan and Kendahl.
Science/cooking fact: if you cook your potatoes at a simmer instead of a boil your consistency of your mash will be smoother than silk. This is because the gentler cook causes less of the potatoes cells to rupture leading to a smooth texture that still stands up, rather than a stiff sandy texture. The cook will take longer but the effort is tangible in the finished product.
