I think the freshness matters as well. I 'planted' 4 and the two older ones slipped way faster since a month ago, The third one just started and the fourth still nothing. They're all in the same container and plqnted at the same time
These were all harvested last fall and were quite firm when I put them in the tote. They have all softened now significantly. They continue to produce, but several have provided no slips
