- In this video I unbox and chat about the best recommended hop-up options for the Tamiya Aqroshot RC buggy / short course truck on the fantastic DT-03T chassis. Joining me on the camera is my mate Rob @robbrennanrc who got this kit for me as a gift. He knows a lot about this chassis and added the best hop-ups to the kit he could think of.
About the DT-03 T kit:
This assembly kit R/C truck features a stylish body inspired by U.S. stadium racing trucks. Made from lightweight and durable polycarbonate, it features a rear wing, and can be decorated using the flashy markings included in the kit. The chassis provides suitably dynamic driving fun, and is mounted with front and rear wheels of differing offset, mounted with radial semi-pneumatic tires.
The stylish slimline form of this chassis stems from its lightweight yet durable monocoque frame, which features a longitudinally-positioned battery and the R/C equipment along the centerline for excellent balance. The combination of a long 287mm wheelbase and 4-wheel double wishbone suspension married to CVA oil dampers with long arms at a 25-degree attachment angle, allows the model to handle with stability on poor surfaces. The rear-positioned gearbox is sealed to protect from dust and dirt, with the built-in differential gear offering smooth cornering.

I love the Aqroshot. I built one earlier this year. I currently have the wheels and tires from the Blitzer Beetle on mine.

Nice!! Good he got you the off road tires! I have those wide tires on my Tamiya street rover they don't grip to well and they are awesome drift tires and last like for ever though! Happy building friend!

Hi Mark- I like the Truggy/Stadium truck style. These RC can rip and bash really nice with the wide stance. Awesome hop-up parts and a great kit. Enjoy the build.

Hey what a smashing chap that Rob is Mark! You could maybe pinch the motor from your speed run car for this as they can easily take a bit of speed. I think I've wished you a happy birthday at the time but happy birthday again and I hope it was a great one. I'm just back from hols and catching up on what everyone has been up to. Be good if the speed run challenge next year is a DT01/02/03 as I think pretty much everyone has got these and if not then they are not too dear. Cheers mate, have fun with the build 😁👍👍

It helps me and keeps me young - at last at an illusional level 😅 Just wait till I am in the 60s myself, then it will be open season on the ones in the 70s, he he. Well, jokes aside. It’s a cool kit Rob gave you. Always been thinking on getting one myself or converting a buggy. And the ‘cheap pins’ Rob gave you too, are kinda special. They are the ones that the DT-02MS came with. So historical by now. And well, every little tiny effort to keep the rear lighter and the front heavier on both the DT-02 and 03 is a good step ☺️

Oh yes, Mark! This is a cool kit, and a couple nice hop-ups from Rob as well! The tyres are definitely essential for having a good time with this one or it'll just stand in one place skidding out, not much driving going on...

Amazing value for an :entry level' kit, can't believe it comes with a torque tuned motor, and oil filled dampers.
I'm just finishing building my Top force evo..... I'm thoroughly bummed as that only came with a silver can, I really can't make out what goes through Tamiyas head sometimes!
Nice cheeky sniff of those blitzer tires, which I know first hand are a very pleasurable aroma (took a couple of hits on moo moos before she built it! 🤣)
Not built one of these chassis before, so looking forward to the build videos buddy. 😊

The stock tyres I never liked, no grip. Pinion upgrade a must, so an interesting build to come.

@@MarkBryanRCI agree, we're all entitled to an opinion and here's mine: while Tamiya aren't the most robust of RC's when compared to Traxxas or Arrma, they make up for it in several ways. 1. You get to enjoy the process of building a kit. 2. Unlike other brands Tamiya RC's are full of charm and character. 3. They have a very long and successful history. If you want to launch an RC off a skateboard ramp and send it flying 30-40 feet in the air, then Arrma or Traxxas is the way to go. Alternatively you could just buy an RC plane or heli, if that's what you're after. If you would rather enjoy the process of building a kit and putting your own stamp on it, then it's Tamiya.
You know I'm totally with you on all your points, dude! But TBH, I prefer to concentrate my responses on my friends and other folk with positive viewpoints, hence my short reply above!
