Hakim Belayachi Yeah definitely. My car has power steering but it’s hydronic not electric so it means you can still feel the weight of the steering but you can still park easily. Thanks Hakim, glad your enjoying the videos
I have one from 12/1999. Easy to fix , cheap spare parts, easy to drive, reliable engine ( about 200.000 km) but most of all , is the feeling of comfortness . I dont know if i just love it because it was my first car, but i really LIKE to drive this little old car. It became noisy over the time, slower, it consumes more fuel but it puts a smile in my face, every morning i use it. Old cars are like old men, they have character and they need love and good care.Enjoy it .
Had one of these 10 years back. Was my second car and I loved it SO much. Watching this back took me back so far. Every vehicle I’ve had since makes one of these look fisher price but they’ve struggled to give me the same joy and road trips my old saxo did. Cheers for the video and spurring some of those memories from those halcyon days!
A proper handbrake would be essential to me if I was buying a new car. I've tested a few brand new Volkswagen group cars recently and they've all had proper handbrakes but I think their days are numbered
@@MattysCars, yes, we have bought two new cars in the last couple of months, and despite one of them being less than a year old, both thankfully have conventional handbrakes!
The Citroen Saxo is a brilliant little car I have had 2 Saxo's and both where the 1.5 diesel engines. I've found them comfy and nippy and reliable too... I had a 51 reg and a 03 one... Both of these where company cars... And then they replaced them with the C3 instead. And when I left I actually bought my old Saxo of the Company for £1500. As it was so good.. Good cars at the time. Now I own the mark 3 Fiat Panda Petrol version.. 😊
What were the diesels like? I know they weren’t as popular and hardly any available now. Yeah right decision buying the Saxo back and not a C3. Fiat Pandas are great cars, a Mark 2 one is probably something I’d consider in the future
@@MattysCars Hi.. the 1.5 Diesel Saxo was very good.... they where nippy and economical on fuel... brilliant on a long journy.. iv travelled to kent and Bradford and Nottingham and lakeside and round Dartford area when I had mine... I never had a issue with it... I even used it when I moved home... amazing what you can get into a saxo... My advice if you come across a good diesel Saxo... buy it.. thats my advice. 🙂
Cheaper insurance, usually can do all your own maintenance, they look better, saving the planet by reducing the demand for more steel, more plastic, etc. You're buying something that's already been built a long time ago. Parts are usually cheaper than parts for new cars. Older care will probably twice as long as they have already been around. They cost less initially, usually dont depreciate in value like new cars (as this has already happened). So yeah, lots of very good reasons.
John Grieve I am looking to do more maintenance on my car myself, under the bonnet there are no plastic coverings so easy to do things yourself. The environmental part is so true and something I will cover in another video! Parts are so cheap for my Saxo and they are shared with other Citroen’s so really easy to get hold of. You make some great points, might have to make a part 2!
My saxo has been in the garage for 23 years untouched. I don't know where to begin with it. Its a limited edition open scandal. There's 72 left in the UK as of today
I had a 53 plate Saxo (one of the last UK ones off the line, before they switched to the C2) in 2014 and loved it. That 1.1 engine was plenty with the injection. I still say it's my favourite car I've owned. Only got rid because I was doing a lot of miles for work and needed something newer and more suited to motorways. But if that hadn't been the case I reckon I'd still have it today.
Great cars. There’s a very late registered one by mine on an 04 plate as well. I think they sold them alongside the C2 and C3 for a bit. I do a lot of miles in mine on the motorway, there are cars better suited to it like

But great job as always Matty, thanks for the laugh :)
Hahaha glad you ship the jokes😂 Any tips are always welcome. The audio in this video though is entirely my fault. It was recorded over 2 separate days so one day I'm using a mic the other day I'd forgotten it. Which is why the audio differs through out 🤦♂️
@@MattysCars ahah that's happened to me as well mate! Audio is so hard to get right but to fix that you can always adjust the volumes and compression in post so you get it consistent!
It's a great beginner car, very low gas milage, BUT always inspect for rust French cars a notorious for rust, my mom abuse one for 20 years and sold it when it was falling apart, still drove tho.
Very edgy, and though I agree with much of your views on new cars and even better on old ones, I am concerned about your smoking! Like rust on cars can be terminal, so can smoking on your body. End of lecture! Lol! By your spatial awareness via regular check on traffic by your mirrors and your hands being generally at ten to two you seem to be a competent and safe driver. As with your many young competitors on the car video scene, I think you need to work on what is your USP (unique selling point) that will draw back views to future videos, though that may be your minor contentiousness. But as a real old car petrolhead who wasted most of this life cash on them, and loved them, I look forward to a new link to my passion of older cars! Rob
Old cars are so much better! I will have to knock the smoking on the head soon. If I had to say what my USP was it's probably my sense of humour (not to sound big headed!) But my humour is something you either get/ like or don't. This car video scene though is not a competition so I'm not too conscious. Thanks for your comment though Rob I hope you enjoy some future videos Ps, You're right I am and excellent driver!
I have a nice little 'W' plate saxo on my drive. Digital milometer has packed in so cannot mot.....to good to scrap. Nobody seems to know what the problem is?
I definitely think they're worth it! And yeah a different choice to the rest. It's only the type of things that go wrong on them that you'd expect with an old car
I had a Renault Clio Billabong Edition 2003 as my second car and I loved it. It was in that special edition Billabong gold/green colour. The clutch was awful though and the sunroof had a leak. Before buying the Clio, I went to look at a Saxo VTR which had always been a favourite of mine, but the pedals being so close together put me off. I still the Saxo's look amazing.
aha got to say laughed quite a bit and have to say own a Y reg 106 and whats better then having 1 old car.... yep you guessed right having another old car (aka trying to fined a not so rusted saxo)
Short answer: yes. 15 years old is a decent age for a car. But wheahter it's classed as old depends on what it is. If it has all the qualities of an old car then yeah but some 55 plate cars still feel quite modern
There's no getting around the fact that old cars are just a more genuine experience, right?
And as always, great content! Keep it up Matt!
