  • Ski resort Etna Nord is one of two resorts on Etna volcano and one of three in Sicily.
Etna Nord offers incredible opportunity to ski with the views of a smoking volcano, with pleasant, nicely profiled, wide slopes.
The conditions may vary though, as there is always risk that the eruption will cover the snow with volcanic ash and the resort must be closed.
The best time to ski on Etna is February, with plenty of natural snow.
The weather may vary from +10C and sun to -10C and a freezing wind. Therefore snow chains are required to reach the resort by car from mid November to mid April.

Cool mountain. Next winter we are planning to go snowboarding there. How much does it cost there? How much kilometres of pistes does it have there?

In Etna Nord (featured in this video) in 2019 the price of 1-day skipass was 20 euros. The total length of ski slopes is around 12-14km.
There may be a bit more slopes in Etna Sud, on the other side of volcano, but that resort was usually closed in last 2 seasons due to volcanic ash or lack of snow.

Did you need snow chains on the car?

Yes, on snowy days they are mandatory.
