    oooh yes so much of my portuguese comes from songs (actually that's kind of how I ended up studying portuguese, thanks to liking artists from Portugal) and listening to the songs is such a great way to immerse myself in the sound of the language! my favourite artists/ones I'd recommend are: The Gift, Diabo Na Cruz, Rita Guerra (these are pop/indie/rock), Paulo Braganca, Raquel Tavares, Carminho and obv Amalia Rodrigues (also the Amalia Hoje project, if we are at fado though fado isn't always the easiest to understand I guess), Moonspell, Mao Morta, Sinistro, Bizarra Locomotiva (these last 4 are the heavier/more weird music which I personally like but not for everyone obviously)

    This may sound random but I am currently trying to learn Portuguese because I want to come back to Portugal soon (I already lived in Lisbon for about 3.5 months) and I eventually stumbled upon your channel. Turns out I've already seen you at a language exchange event! We didn't chat that much but when you said you're English on the Brazilian portuguese video my brain clicked!
    I just subscribed, thank you for your videos and learning tips, keep up the good work! Grande abraço desde França

    This is what I did to learn Spanish with Luis Miguel! Now, I have to find my Portuguese Luis Miguel. I am finding a hard time, finding a male artist, that my ears and brain resonate with. Thank your for this video! Super helpful! ❤

    Welcome back Professora Liz! We've missed you a lot
    The legendary Amália Rodrigues is an evergreen, ever loved classic for me. Lately I've been listening to Diogo Piçarra, Carolina Deslandes, Raquel Tavares, Tiago Bettencourt lately
    They have some good stuff which is somewhat easy to follow

    Um outro grande vídeo Liz! Gosto da dica sobre comprehension and not trying to translate every single word! That is what gets me frustrated when trying to comprehend portuguese. Também...gosto da canção que escolhe! I have been listening to Mariza and António Zambujo. I have a small playlist that I listen to when driving and cooking...claro há algumas canções da Disney!

      The word for lyrics in Portuguese is "letras" so you can just take any song title and Google it along with 'letras' and it should come up!

      tbone71 Eu já o encontrei. A música dele é fixe 😎, mas ele canta em português do Brasil. I could drop a link here, but CZcams doesn’t like it. Type on Google his name and letras de … his name. Also on CZcams “ his name” legendas - subtitles, just in case you don’t understand a word. Sapo dot pt is a Portuguese website. You might find there useful information about singers in Portugal 🇵🇹, like Amalia Rodrigues ( fado).

    • @eduardoserrao7372
      @eduardoserrao7372 Před 3 lety

      @ML8593wy muitas das músicas que ele canta são na verdade originais brasileiros (por ex. Garagem da vizinha).
      Suponho que quem fez aquele comentário procurava pelo nome da música, e não por Quim Barreiros, e assim obtinha resultados da original brasileira.

      @@the_anthonymarino there is a lot of innuendo (I think this the right word), a lot of "word (dirty) puns" (not sure about this also..., we call it 'trocadilhos'), but I suppose it's ok to get a good start, even if you don't understand the full meaning of the lyrics.

    Bom dia! I have been listening to Portuguese music and singing along where possible (when no one will hear me) for a few months now. It is very helpful for pronunciation. I would love to find good Portuguese songs to help learn specific vocab. It's okay if they are childish... Songs for months, days, numbers, and things like that. These are hard to find. Any recommendations?

    Liz, I went to linguee.com and found the English/Portuguese part, but it has the Brazilian flag next to "Portuguese." Do you know if I will run into any problems learning EU Portuguse because of this if I use linguee? Perhaps they just use the Brazilian flag since that country has so many more speakers of the language? Thoughts?

    • @TalktheStreets
      @TalktheStreets  Před 4 lety +2

      Yes I have heard this happens if you are based in the US - if you have a VPN turn that to Portugal or the UK and see if it changes?

    • @forestdweller8164
      @forestdweller8164 Před 4 lety +2

      @@TalktheStreets So I used a VPN and first I had it 'put me' in Portugal to test out your suggestion and then I switched the VPN to the UK. In both cases the flag of Portugal was displayed (instead of Brazil) when selecting English-to-Portuguese. So thank you very much for that solution!!! Issue solved!
